Chapter 59 - 59: Betrothed

"What's the matter that couldn't be discussed over the phone? Did Ella go back and tell on me?"

Christopher Weaver's voice suddenly calmed down: "It's a serious matter, inconvenient to discuss over the phone. Your sister did this for your own good. Don't keep calling her by name; calling her 'sister' won't cost you anything."

"I don't have time to go back today, let's talk about it later!" Isabella said as she prepared to hang up the phone.

Knowing her temperament, Christopher Weaver immediately dropped a bombshell: "I've arranged a marriage for you. Get back quickly, don't force me to have someone tie you up and bring you back!"

"What?!"

Isabella was both shocked and furious, about to ask more, but Christopher Weaver had already hung up!

A marriage?

Isabella instantly felt like she was plunged into an icy abyss.

What exactly did Ella say to make Christopher Weaver not even wait for her to graduate, but want to marry her off?

Her original plan was to graduate and then leave far away, never returning to that house!

But now she couldn't leave; if Christopher Weaver said he'd have her tied up and brought back, he really would. He had done it before; if she disobeyed, she would be knocked out and taken back.

She had actually run away several times, but never succeeded.

The power of Christopher Weaver was something she, as a student, couldn't contend with.

Isabella slung her bag over her shoulder, her expression cold, and left the restaurant. Without caring about saving money by taking the bus, she hailed a taxi to go back to the Weaver Family.

The Weaver Family villa was brightly lit, the beautiful crystal lamps reflecting dazzling yet icy light, just like the cold and fragile family bonds of the Weavers, weighing down Isabella's steps.

In the living room, Christopher Weaver sat on a pale golden sofa, beside him was his elegant and noble wife, Rose Parker.

But Ella was not sitting on the sofa; she stood by the railing on the second floor, looking down condescendingly at Isabella.

Every time Isabella returned, she had to stand in that spot, as if by doing so, she could step on Isabella, asserting her unparalleled status as the eldest daughter.

"Isabella's back, come and sit down! Have you had dinner? I heard you say you were hungry over the phone, I've had the kitchen prepare a lot of your favorite dishes."

Rose Parker was the first to speak; unlike her elegant appearance, her voice was extremely gentle and loving, carrying an irresistible energy, much like a benevolent Bodhisattva.

Isabella had lived under her care for nineteen years, tormented by this "gentleness" countless times, refusing to believe it anymore.

To kill without seeing blood is the highest realm of a gentle butcher's knife, and Rose Parker had perfected it.

Comparatively, the capricious and spoiled Ella was much easier to deal with.

Isabella sat on the sofa opposite them, without even glancing at the dishes on the nearby table; there was definitely not a dish she liked, and they would be especially spiced, eating them could take half her life.

Christopher Weaver's face darkened: "You come back without even calling 'Mom' or 'Dad'? Your mom prepared so much food for you, and you don't even say 'thanks'?"

Isabella's eyes were cold: "My mom is dead, who to thank?"

Christopher Weaver suddenly flew into a rage, grabbed a cup, and hurled it at Isabella's head.

Too close to dodge, with a "bang," the cup hit her forehead, shattering glass everywhere.

Blood flowed down her forehead, along her chin, dripping onto the snow-white carpet, a horrifying sight.

Isabella didn't make a sound, not even a frown, as if she were a wooden person without a sense of pain, only using cold, indifferent eyes to stare at her father.
