Chapter 303: Chapter 303: Don’t Insult My Profession, Sky Blue Color
Qian Yaya, holding onto her things, thanked her aunt’s student who had accompanied her behind the scenes all day, and skipped into the room.
Qian Yiheng heard the door open, and though she was about to head to the study, she changed direction, holding a cup and walked towards the entryway.
"You’re back!"
Qian Yaya was in the middle of kicking off her shoes and changing them when she was startled by a sudden voice from behind, "Aunt, you walk so quietly!"
"Sorry about that." Qian Yiheng patted her niece on the back, then turned and saw something new on the entryway cabinet.
"What’s this?"
"A stick of ink I made by hand." While at the studio, Qian Yaya saw Jiang Lingxi buy some small boxes to hold ink sticks, so she learned from that.
Since it was a gift, it had to be packaged a bit formally.
"It’s for you, Aunt. Aren’t the ink sticks you use for practicing calligraphy almost finished? These will replenish them. It’s my first time making them, so they might not be very good."
Qian Yiheng looked at the small box handed to her and felt a warmth in her heart.
She put down the cup and ruffled her niece’s hair, "Oh, our Yaya has really grown up, knowing how to be filial to her aunt!"
She accepted the box, "It doesn’t matter if it’s not well-made," she opened it and saw the ink sticks, slightly pale under the light, and paused, "It’s the thought that counts."
She hadn’t planned on using them, intending to keep some in her collection, but now seeing the actual items, she decided to just keep them all.
"What’s this again?" Seeing another piece of rolled-up rice paper on the cabinet, she reached out to grab it, "Did you make this on the show? You can actually take it home!"
"Wait a minute!" Qian Yaya’s alarm bells went off, and she instinctively tried to grab the rice paper first, but she was a step too late.
Qian Yiheng glared playfully at her, while she opened the rice paper she quipped, "What work of yours haven’t I seen from when you were little? I didn’t even laugh when you painted swans to look like ducks, nothing to be embarrassed about."
Qian Yaya didn’t dare to snatch it back. Rice paper is thinner than regular paper, and she feared accidentally tearing it.
She could only watch with eyes wide open as the rice paper was unrolled.
"Hmm? Not a painting, it’s writing. This writing..." The paper was only halfway open, but as soon as the handwriting was revealed, Qian Yiheng recognized it wasn’t her niece’s, "It’s really not great!"
Qian Yaya: "..."
She knew it!
The usually easygoing aunt became sharply critical when it came to her profession.
There were indeed times when she’d made her students cry.
With the paper fully unrolled, "What’s written here? Gallant in fine attire, not wasting youth, to Qian Yaya, by Jing Huai? Is that the celebrity you like? Did he write this? Don’t tell me this is supposed to be Emperor Yuan Zhao’s style!"
Qian Yiheng’s face turned serious, for once calling her niece by her full name, "Qian Yaya, you’re insulting my profession!"
Qian Yaya wiped the cold sweat forming on her forehead, nervously explaining: "He actually admitted beforehand that his Emperor Yuan Zhao style wasn’t great. I just didn’t expect that when he said not very good he really meant not very good. I thought he was just being modest."
When she saw the writing, she nearly froze on the spot.
Most of her aunt’s students were familiar faces, with undeniable calligraphy skills. Though she mostly didn’t focus on the Emperor Yuan Zhao style, being told by her aunt she wasn’t advanced enough to practice it, years of exposure had given her some sense of appreciation.
With Jing Huai’s writing, she couldn’t in good conscience claim this was Emperor Yuan Zhao’s style!
But since it was something requested from an idol, she couldn’t dislike it in front of the camera.
She initially intended to secretly stash it away, but before she could act, her aunt had already spotted it.
Qian Yiheng rolled up the rice paper, not wanting to look at it even for one more second, "I was originally planning to find a day to visit the recording site with you seeing there’s a guest who knows the Emperor Yuan Zhao style this season. But if it’s someone like your idol, a mere fame-seeker, let’s forget it."
Qian Yaya opened her mouth, yet didn’t dare to retort.
She knew well her aunt’s passion for the Emperor Yuan Zhao style, calling her a super fan of Emperor Yuan Zhao wouldn’t be an overstatement.
This behavior of her idol clearly hit her aunt’s sore spot.
"Enough now," Qian Yiheng hesitated but didn’t directly throw the rice paper into the trash, "It’s getting late, you still have to continue recording tomorrow, hurry up and wash and get to bed."
"Right, right," Qian Yaya nodded quickly, "Aunt, don’t stay up too late, get some rest yourself."
"Oh, what’s the plan for tomorrow?"
"No idea yet, the director said there would be news early in the morning."
Returning to her room, Qian Yaya, after washing up and changing into her pajamas, didn’t immediately head for bed but walked to her desk instead.
Her desk was against the wall, and there was a large poster on the wall in front of it.
The idol in the poster wore ancient costume, genuinely looking like a graceful gentleman, which was what attracted her to the fandom back then.
But now, somehow, the person in the poster seemed to become blurred, and the once mesmerizing figure was fading more and more in her mind!

The guests were woken up by the sound of ringing phones early in the morning.
After reading the fresh-off-the-press news, Jiang Lingxi sat up and opened the door to see Lu Zhengzheng and Xu Ling’an already up, quietly packing things.
In no time, Tong Yue came in with breakfast, swiping in with her card and before putting the things down, she asked, "Did the show send a message?"
Jiang Lingxi helped her set up the breakfast on the table, then unlocked her phone and handed it over.
"We still need to gather before eight, will today’s shooting be outside again? Who’s the mastermind behind this calligraphy and painting Chapter? The process is getting more and more tricky!" After complaining, Tong Yue put down the phone, glanced at the gown hanging in the living room, and didn’t take a decision herself, "Which one are you planning to wear?"
The grey one from yesterday was already put away, Jiang Lingxi glanced at the remaining two.
Whether it was a feature of the Shanyue Zhiheng brand or just someone’s preference, all three gowns had light and elegant colors, even yesterday’s grey was as mild as overcast clouds.
"I’ll go with the sky blue one."
This morning when she opened the curtains, the sky wasn’t as bright as yesterday, with some heavy fog, and rain might even fall in the afternoon.
Rainy days always had a sticky feeling psychologically, so she preferred to dress cleaner. The sky-blue set with its loose and simple top and bottom made her feel more comfortable compared to the other heavily embroidered white dress.
Xu Ling’an stood in front of the gowns, hearing Jiang Lingxi’s choice, he casually took it down and handed it over with a smile, "Sky blue, waiting for the rain?"
