Chapter 1861: Grand Elder Laird
Chapter 1861: Grand Elder Laird
“Your Faction Leader?” Grey did not expect to hear such an answer, but after giving it more thought, he felt it was most likely correct. The only one who could make not just the Twilight Faction, but most of the other Forces in this world is only the Faction Leader of the Twilight Faction who is regarded as the strongest expert in this world.
‘Why would their Faction Leader be interested in me?’ Grey was confused. There was no reason for the Faction Leader of the Twilight Faction to be this adamant on capturing him unless there was an unforgivable enmity. Grey did not recall offending the Leader of the Twilight Faction, even if the Magical Beasts were odd, the chances of him actively sending the entire Faction after Grey is still very slim.
The two Ninth stage Sovereigns nodded, assuring Grey that this was the case.
“Why would your Faction Leader be after me?” Grey asked after some silence, he could accept that the Faction Leader wanted to capture him, but what he did not understand is why.
“No one knows, all we know is that the moment he heard about you, he told everyone to do whatever it took to capture you alive.” The Ninth stage Sovereign answered truthfully.
Grey fell silent, thinking of potential reasons as to why the Faction Leader of the Twilight Faction was going after him in such a manner.
“I don’t like being harassed. I know you have ways to contact them and you must have done that already.”
While Grey spoke, the bodies of both Ninth stage Sovereigns froze and they almost started sweating out of fright.
“I don’t like mindless killings, so I’ll leave you and your Faction Leader with this, after today I will kill anyone affiliated to the Twilight Faction if I see that you are still hunting me.” Grey’s voice was icy, sending chills down the spines of the two Ninth stage Sovereigns. Although he was not one who enjoyed killing mindlessly, he would not shy away from a massacre if needs be. He has killed hundreds if not even thousands of people over his life and he has never felt a shred of pity or hesitation when doing so. If these people from the Twilight Faction pushed him to the edge, he did not mind retaliating.
Young Master Idris and the two Ninth stage Sovereigns nodded their heads with dark faces. Never in their lives have they been threatened by anyone outside the upper echelons of the Twilight Faction, Young Master Idris particularly has never had his life threatened by anyone before this, but for the first time in his life, he felt the humiliation of being unable to even talk back to the person threatening his life. What was worse is that this person looked to be around his age or even younger.
“Now scram.” Grey waved at them before turning his attention to the scorching building. He originally did not want this treasure, but since he was already here and the other Forces refused to take it, he did not mind keeping it.
Acting like those from the Twilight Faction did not exist, he walked straight into the scorching building. Unlike when those below the Sovereign Plane from the Forces gathered entered, Grey faced little to no resistance, easily walking to the place the treasure was floating.
While Grey was inspecting the treasure, the group from the Twilight Faction stood outside in silence. Grey told them to leave, but they have not taken a step since he said this.
“It’s best not to agitate him any further.” The middle aged man among the two Ninth stage Sovereigns said to Young Master Idris. He was the one who secretly sent out the distress signal. He felt that even though Grey was powerful, his Spiritual Sense will not be as strong as a Ninth stage Sovereign’s. It was only after Grey called it out did he realize that he was mistaken. They have never really known Grey’s true ability, and from the looks of things, they were still underestimating him even when the entire world felt like they were overestimating a mere boy in the Seventh stage. They were also one of the people who thought the Faction was overreacting with how they treated him.
Young Master Idris wanted to object, but he knew that they were not Grey’s opponent.
“Let’s go.” He snorted coldly and turned to leave, his expression fiery. It was clear to see that he was enraged, so no one tried to say anything.
They quickly left the Manor, and after going about a kilometer away from the Manor, they stopped.
Young Master Idris, who was still enraged, asked angrily when he almost bumped into someone, “Why are we stopping?”
The middle aged man who was in the Ninth stage looked at Young Master Idris and said, “I just received news that Grand Elder Laird is rushing here.”
The second Young Master Idris heard this, his eyes lit up, “You mean Grandfather is coming here?”
“Yes, he just responded to my call.” The middle-aged man nodded.
“Hehe, with Grandfather coming then that arrogant guy is as good as dead.” Young Master Idris laughed, all his anger disappearing in an instant. It was like he could already see Grey’s dead body.
The two Ninth stage Sovereigns did not look at him in disdain, rather, they also had eyes that were filled with awe. Yes, they were both Ninth stage Sovereigns who were hundreds of years old, but Grand Elder Laird is regarded as the first person below the Faction Leader, and not just in their Faction, but the whole world. If there is anyone who has the potential to rival the Twilight Faction Leader, then it is Grand Elder Laird of the Twilight Faction.
He was a Peak Sovereign that has reached the very limit of the Sovereign Plane just like the Twilight Faction Leader.
“Should we go back to make sure he does not escape?” Young Master Idris asked excitedly. He did not want to miss this opportunity to capture Grey.
“It’s safer to observe from a distance. At this distance, we can still barely sense him. He thinks we are gone, so there is no need to worry about him knowing we are here. But if we get close, he will notice us.” The older looking Ninth stage Sovereign shook his head, he was not as hot tempered as Young Master Idris and knew that surprise was their best bet in this situation.
Young Master Idris quickly came back to his senses after he recalled how Grey was able to mess with them in the Manor without any of them sensing his presence. If Grey were to sense them, then he might kill them before his Grandfather arrived.
….
Back at the Manor.
Grey did not think too much about those from the Twilight Faction, of course he knew his threat would not stop them, but he did not mind trying.
He did not watch the Twilight Faction members leave the Manor as all his attention was placed on the floating orb. Standing before it, he could sense just how powerful this thing was. Unfortunately it is useless to the current him.
Even if it was useless, it did not mean that he could not take it. Stretching his hand forward, he tried to grab it. The moment his finger came in contact with the red orb, he felt a tingling sensation on his spine and before he could even react, the red orb drilled into his body and disappeared.
Grey’s pupils dilated as he was filled with dread. He had never liked things entering his body without his permission. He hurriedly searched for it, and when he found it, to his surprise, it was laying dormant in his body.
‘What’s happening?’ He was a little apprehensive about the situation. When Young Master Idris spoke about how to obtain the red orb, he listened intently even though he did not initially plan to take it. He did not even get the chance to try the method Young Master Idris spoke about before the red orb drilled into his body
He tried to remove it from his body, but he noticed that he was unable to do so. Apparently this orb was living peacefully in his body. After trying again and failing, he gave up and decided to remove the core from this place first. Knowing there was nothing he could do about this thing right now, he decided to wait. Besides, he recalled those people from the Twilight Faction calling for help, and he did not want to be around when the help finally came. Walking to the Affinity Stone, he followed the same procedure as usual and extracted the beast core hidden under the Stone. There were only two cores left, and if he was fast enough, there was a chance he might be able to take all of them before his time here was up.
