Chapter 1859: Returning A Favor
“How can this be?!”
Young Master Idris was not the only one shocked by what was happening. The other Sovereigns saw this and were beyond shocked. The reason for this was because they could see that those from the Twilight Faction were not able to move freely when they got within ten meters of the treasure, yet the closest Force to them just got to that mark and did not seem to face any obstructions.
While Young Master Idris was dumbfounded, Helena and those from her Faction were pleasantly surprised by the unfolding events. A few seconds ago she had already given up on this and was even thinking of telling the others to return so they leave. Before being attracted over by the treasure, they were on a mission. It was only due to finding the Twilight Faction already here did she decide to wait. Luckily, things changed quickly, not giving her the chance to tell them to return.
She turned to look at the faces of Young Master Idris, and seeing his sour expression she giggled. Young Master Idris, hearing her giggle, snorted in anger.
“Do not celebrate too early, they still have to be able to take it away from that place.” Young Master Idris said with a grunt, squinting his eyes as he watched the members of the Twilight Faction struggling to take a step forward. When they tried to catch up to the group from Helena’s group that went past them, their barrier showed signs of cracks and they knew they had to reinforce it.
Young Master Idris’ eyes glowed with a fierce light as he roared through gritted teeth, “Who the hell dares to play tricks with us?!”
The powerful aura of a Sixth stage Sovereign gushed out of his body, spreading in every corner, covering the entire Manor.
Young Master Idris’ roar surprised the other Forces present and they all went on alert. But looking around, they could not locate anyone hiding around the Manor nor the building where the treasure was located.
Helena looked at Young Master Idris with a frown, she wanted to ask why he felt someone was playing tricks with them, but seeing his expression, she knew that he was not trying to act presumptuously, but rather sensed something wrong. She focused on the members of the Twilight Faction and soon realized why Young Master Idris believed someone was playing tricks on them. Those from her Faction did not face the same obstruction as the Twilight Faction, even though they were within a meter of the treasure at the moment. Usually the pressure on them increases the closer they are to the treasure, hence the reason the Twilight Faction did not think someone was playing with them at first. Only after Helena’s Faction members overtook those from the Twilight Faction with ease did they feel something off.
“Young Master Idris, what do we do?” A Ninth stage Sovereign from the Twilight Faction asked with a sour expression, like Young Master Idris he could tell something was wrong, but he had not been able to locate where the issue came from.
“Everyone inside stop! Who dares to make any strange movements will be killed.” Young Master Idris ordered, sending his voice into the building.
Helena frowned when she heard this, “Young Master Idris, my companions are already on the verge of obtaining the treasure.”
“I don’t care, if any of them make a move I’ll kill them on the spot.” Young Master Idris said coldly before adding, “You all can tell that someone is messing with my companions’ barrier, this is the reason they were slowed down. If any other Force could have taken the treasure fairly, then I will naturally have no objections, but as you can all see, someone is secretly slowing them down.”
Helena gave an inquisitive look to the Ninth stage Sovereign by her side, but the latter shook his head, indicating this had nothing to do with him. Like Young Master Idris and the others, she had also tried to see if she could find who was lurking around. The result was the same as the others, even the Ninth stage Sovereigns could not locate whoever this person is, much less a Fourth stage Sovereign like herself.
In his hiding place, Void appeared beside Grey with an awkward expression on his face, he told Grey he would be able to do this discreetly, but it only took a few seconds before he was found out.
Grey did not seem to mind the fact that Void was noticed, after a moment of thinking, he soon figured out the reason they were able to quickly sense something was wrong. Although he would prefer to stay hidden until the left, since their presence was already most likely exposed, there was no point hiding in the shadows. Of course, he could also decide to stay hidden and take the core without any stress, he did not see the fun in waiting.
“Which one of you messed it up?” Young Master Idris questioned the other Forces present, his eyes glued to the Ninth stage Sovereign behind Helena. From his point of view, Helena’s Force were the only ones who stood to gain any benefit from this, hence the reason they did it. Besides, even the Ninth stage Sovereigns by his side could not sense how they did it, which meant only someone as powerful as a Ninth stage Sovereign could secretly act in front of another Ninth stage Sovereign. There were only three other Ninth stage Sovereigns here, and the Forces of the other two Ninth stage Sovereigns were a few meters behind Helena’s companions in the building.
The place was silent even after Young Master Idris’ question. This only further infuriated the latter as he did not think these people from weaker Forces would dare to not answer his question. His anger filled eyes moved to Helena, clearly asking her for an explanation.
Helena smiled and answered, “Young Master Idris, you of all people should know we dare not act in such a manner against your Faction.”
Young Master Idris snorted coldly, pointing at the Ninth stage Sovereign behind Helena, “How can we be certain this isn’t his handiwork?”
Not giving Helena a chance to speak, Young Master Idris continued, “The situation inside is proof enough that this is clearly done in order to slow my companions down.”
“Young Master Idris, I admit the situation does indeed look to be in our favor, but I can assure you I have no hand in this.” The Ninth stage Sovereign behind Helena stepped forward, answering Young Master Idris’ question.
Young Master Idris was about to continue when he suddenly heard a voice he found very familiar but he could not figure out where he had heard it before.
“I did not think you would be the one to notice it.”
Young Master Idris, along with the Late stage Sovereigns present all turned around to try to find where the voice came from, but oddly, the voice sounded like it was coming from all directions.
“Who?!” One of the Ninth stage Sovereign from the Twilight Faction stepped in front of Young Master Idris as he warily looked around. Even he could not pinpoint where the voice came from.
“No need to be agitated.” Grey’s figure stepped out of the void as he appeared before them. His figure was about three meters off the ground and stared down at Young Master Idris, “You guys have been making my life difficult lately, I’m just returning a favor.”
Young Master Idris’ eyes almost popped out of his head from how wide he opened them, the second he saw Grey’s face, he immediately remembered the face that has been haunting him in his nightmares over the past few months.
“Y… you, how can it be you?”
Grey slowly dropped from the sky, stepping on the ground he asked with a playful smile, “Why can’t it be me?”
“Capture him!” Young Master Idris ordered, there was no point talking to Grey. The Twilight Faction had been hunting him for a few months now, so now that he was before them, there was no way he would miss such an opportunity.
Helena, who was by the side, was taken by surprise with the sudden appearance of Grey. She was not the only one, every other person present was shocked, especially with the short conversation that ensued between Grey and Young Master Idris. Their greatest surprise however came from how Young Master Idris reacted the moment he realized who it was, ordering for his capture immediately.
The Sovereigns from the Twilight Faction present acted quickly, both Ninth stage Sovereigns took the lead, launching powerful attacks in Grey’s direction.
Grey acted like he did not see these attacks, and just when they were about to strike, his figure flickered and he appeared a hundred meters away.
“Are you all deaf?! Capture him!” Young Master Idris yelled at those from the other Forces.
