Chapter 255: 131 She is too proactive_2
Whenever the phony Federation fell into hardship, his mood inexplicably brightened.
“The current main plan is to gather intelligence proving that the New Federation is breeding bugs and deliver the information to the Sherman Empire.”
Yang Ming glanced toward the bedroom and continued to survey the layout of the place.
A few minutes later.
Hera, having changed into different clothes, hurriedly returned, jumped onto the couch barefoot, and gazed at Yang Ming with her eyes that seemed to sport glowing contact lenses.
She was now somewhat excited, but not by a large amount.
Yang Ming looked at her outfit.
The choice of denim shorts was quite good, revealing more than half of her pale and slender thighs, the milky texture of her skin being a significant advantage of her appearance.
The top half of her outfit appeared to be a men’s plaid shirt, which wrapped around most of her alluring figure, exposing the straps of her black bra.
“Let’s start.”
Hera said in a low voice, “Prove your intelligence capabilities to validate your identity as a secret agent.”
“Mhm,” Yang Ming adjusted his glasses, “I just came from Ram Star, where I spent three days as a tourist.”
“Ram Star?” Hera feigned a small amount of confusion, “That is only an agricultural planet, providing a few produce supplies to the Administrative Star. What value could there be?”
Yang Ming replied, “Ram Star harbors some secrets.”
Hera’s eyes showed contemplation, mixed with a bit of bewilderment, “These things I cannot verify.”
She was an expert.
Yang Ming felt a bit uneasy inwardly.
Yang Ming smiled and said, “Then how about we make you the topic of discussion? Would you mind?”
“That’s fine,” Hera nodded, “but I hope you won’t use any foul language.”
“I am a gentleman.”
Yang Ming cleared his throat, and key words began to appear on his glasses, and what he needed to do was to string together these key phrases.
He was not fighting alone.
Yang Ming spoke softly, “You’ve always had a big question in your heart, haven’t you? You used to be different, I mean, now you can’t react too emotionally to external stimuli.”
Hera frowned slightly, “Rationality and calmness are not bad things.”
“But the old you had a beautiful smile.”
Yang Ming tapped the edge of his glasses, and dozens of images spread out in front of Hera.
They were photos of her from age five to eighteen or nineteen years old, candid shots, graduation photos, all inclusive, with her smiling broadly in most of them.
Her smile made sunshine seem even brighter.
Hera pursed her lips tightly.
Yang Ming smiled and said, “You actually know there are secrets on Ram Star, don’t you? You were just testing me a moment ago.”
Hera did not reply, only looked at those photos.
Yang Ming turned off the projection and continued,
“Your loss of smile occurred during the summer eight years ago. The memories you lost are from that summer, and you have always guarded that secret.
“At that time, you were probably invited to take part in some project breakthrough or maybe one of your ideas inspired your father, and so you were exceptionally included in a project team.
“That is the source of all your tragedies.”
“How would you know these things?” Hera frowned at Yang Ming.
Yang Ming said, “Because I am investigating your father.”
Hera fell silent once more.
Yang Ming continued softly, “You haven’t lost your emotions, but you can’t express them freely, so you seem to always be calm. Considering your experiences, there are only two possibilities.”
“What?”
“First, someone implanted a chip in your brain, but I’ve just scanned your brain–there’s nothing unusual.”
“How did you do that?” Hera asked, perplexed.
Yang Ming kept speaking his thoughts,
“Second, during the memory-erasing surgery, your brain was damaged.”
Hera analyzed carefully, “Most of this information sounds like conjecture. For these photos of me, you only needed to break into a few undeveloped social networking sites to get them easily.”
“Then let me show you some really classified stuff.”
Yang Ming turned to look at Hera,
“You can keep a secret, can’t you? Miss Hera.”
Hera immediately said, “I’ll go turn off the surveillance.”
“No need,” Yang Ming stated, “Your entire house’s surveillance and networks were already blocked by me earlier.”
Hera stared at Yang Ming for a few seconds then turned and ran off.
This time, she came back in half a minute, asking confusedly, “You never left the couch, how could you?”
Yang Ming smiled, “The high-precision equipment I have, compared to consumer products, sure is different.”
“You’re nearly convincing me,” Hera spoke softly, “show me some real classified information.”
Yang Ming said, “Your father is currently working with Professor Pat; their base is located underground on Ram Star, and the entrance is near a small hot spring town. Their main experiment is about the reproduction and breeding of a certain organism.”
Hera and Yang Ming looked at each other for a few seconds; finally, she shrugged slightly, “I believe you now, secret agent.”
“You do know something,” Yang Ming murmured, “I need your intelligence, Miss Hera.”
Hera sat on the couch with a somewhat distant look in her eyes.
This was her fully engaged in thought.
“I don’t know much,” Hera spoke softly, “The memories that were supposed to be cleanly erased have faint residues. What I can tell you is… it’s dangerous there.”
“Isn’t your father always in that kind of danger?”
“He’s already dead,” Hera’s expression became colder, “When he decided to dedicate everything to that place, my father had already left my life, what’s left is just a balding middle-aged man!”
“You resent him, don’t you?”
“Please don’t pry into my privacy.”
Yang Ming then asked, “Do you know why my superior wants to investigate there?”
