Chapter 81: Chapter 62: Burning
Blade.
The blade cut through the Void, allowing the air to emit a mournful wail.
That blurred golden shadow surged out, submerging all demons, drowning them under the tide-like golden threads.
The fierce wind howled away, leaving no flesh or blood.
Only the central demon leader blocked all the golden threads.
Unfortunately—
This was just the beginning of the blade’s swift rise; the real move was hidden behind.
The blade’s cold, murderous intent emerged like a dragon bursting from the sea, casually thrusting forward from the surging Golden Light.
Swoosh.
The long blade pierced through the demon leader’s skull.
This stroke was simple and unadorned, relying solely on speed, yet it used up all the "gathered" Power.
It contained all the blade techniques Wu Xiaode knew!
—The moment the long blade pierced the demon’s skull, it vibrated thirty-six times, completely destroying all structures within the demon’s cranial cavity at once.
Only after the skull was pierced did the demon’s body react, its arms and legs flailing briefly, but since its owner was already dead, these movements soon stopped.
The long blade firmly caught the demon’s body, gently laid it on the mound, and then slowly withdrew.
Mist quietly spread, enveloping the corpse.
The corpse instantly disappeared.
All the demons’ corpses disappeared.
In front of the pit, only two men remained kneeling on the ground.
All these events might sound slow, but they actually occurred in a single breath.
Ya quietly appeared, excitedly flying out, fluttering back and forth over the corpses of the demons.
The Book of the Dead suddenly opened.
Lines of ice crystal characters swiftly emerged on the pages:
"You have killed 9 demons, one of them immensely powerful."
"Kill one more demon, and you can return."
"Ya has absorbed their Soul Power, temporarily storing it within itself, and will give it to you when you need."
Immediately after, Ya’s voice came:
"Brother, I won’t give you the Soul Power for now to prevent your limit from continually increasing, making it hard for you to return."
"Got it, thanks," Wu Xiaode said.
He stood amidst the endless mist, watching the two human males.
The two human males were initially closing their eyes, quietly experiencing the transformation of their bodies, but suddenly discovered that this transformation had ended.
"What’s going on..."
One opened his eyes and looked around.
There was nothing on the mound.
All around was silent.
There was no one else.
The demons had also all disappeared.
The man hurriedly pushed his companion.
The companion also opened his eyes, found nothing around, and even the demon leader had vanished.
A faint mist began to form in the forest.
"Strange, what’s going on!"
The two were somewhat dazed and confused.
Wu Xiaode pondered for a few moments, sheathed his blade, and step by step entered the pit before the woman’s corpse.
He knelt on one knee, softly said, "Hello, I’m a martial master from the S-level club."
"A direct blade strike was too crude; this time I prefer to use another method, if you’re still here..."
"Please give me some advice."
The corpse did not move.
All corpses remained still.
Wu Xiaode, too, did not move.
He just quietly waited.
A few moments later.
A gust of mountain wind came, gently caressing this patch of forest.
The wind picked up the fallen leaves, blew up the dust, and also entered the pit.
The woman’s corpse’s hair tips fluttered lightly.
She still could not move an inch.
She was already dead.
But the wind was so strong that it blew into her eyes, causing the lingering tears in her eye sockets to silently fall down her cheeks.
On her wrist, the power of the wind made the red tendon flicker back and forth.
It was already loosely tied, and after being caressed by the breeze, it gradually unraveled and fell beside Wu Xiaode’s hand.
"I understand."
Wu Xiaode spoke, picked up the red tendon, and wound it around his black Fist wraps.
As he wrapped his fist, he stood up and step by step walked back in front of the two men.
The two men were secretly panicking, wondering where the great demon that had just stood before them had gone.
One hesitantly said, "Shall we look for him?"
As he spoke, he prepared to stand up, but saw a black fist wrap getting larger in front of him.
Thump—
The man’s face was dented by the punch, and his whole body flew backward, hitting a tree opposite and then collapsing to the ground.
Fortunately, he had already transformed into a demon, so the punch didn’t kill him.
Boom!!!
Fiery Flame erupted on his body, producing a series of crackling sounds.
"Ahhhh! Help! Someone save me!"
The man writhed in the burning Fiery Flame, frantically rolling around.
Wu Xiaode watched quietly, recalling those words in his ears.
The man let out a piercing scream, desperately covering his face with both hands.
Wu Xiaode remained silent, continuously throwing punches—
Each punch was faster than the last, yet so light that the man wasn’t sent flying; he just stood there, continuously getting hit.
One second.
Two seconds.
Three seconds.
Wu Xiaode’s hands turned into a blur, striking numerous punches before he finally stepped back.
Boom—
Flames covered the man’s entire body, transforming him into a towering inferno.
His screams had never ceased.
Wu Xiaode threw another punch.
The man was instantly sent flying, landing beside his companion.
Flames.
Joined together.
"Your Excellency! Please calm your anger, we have always been at your service!"
This man struggled to shout.
His companion, rolling on the ground in agony, added loudly, "My lords, my lords! We are your most loyal servants. What did we do wrong? Just tell us, and we will correct it immediately!"
The two men, despite the searing pain of the flames, knelt on the ground and began to kowtow.
Suddenly.
A voice responded to them.
"Your attitude is very good, I am quite satisfied."
The two men were overjoyed.
However, the surroundings quietly filled with layers of mist.
The fog dispersed.
Wu Xiaode stood across from the pit of corpses, expressionless as he said:
"If I were a Demon, I would probably consider you acceptable. Unfortunately, I am human."
The two men were at a loss for words.
—If a human wanted to kill them, they truly had no grounds to justify themselves.
But they still possessed the instinct to survive.
"Spare us! Spare us!"
"I’ll do anything you ask, just please spare my life!"
The two men hysterically pleaded for mercy.
There was no response.
It was dead silent around them.
Wu Xiaode vanished back into the mist.
Whenever the flames on these two were about to die down, he harshly pummeled them again.
Their bodies were already half-transformed into Demons, so they could not die soon and had to keep enduring the burns.
The screams were incessant.
Yet Wu Xiaode never stopped.
Minutes later.
A rustling noise came from the distance.
The bushes parted.
A young girl appeared beside the pit of corpses.
As she appeared, Wu Xiaode too re-emerged.
"Team Leader." Wu Xiaode said.
The girl glanced at the pit of corpses, then her gaze fell on the two young men beginning to transform into Demons.
She immediately understood what had occurred here.
"Where is the Demon?" she asked.
"They abandoned them," Wu Xiaode said.
"Impossible, they clearly said, as long as we cooperate, they would take us with them!" a man cried out involuntarily.
"Did they really abandon them?"
The girl’s gaze roamed as if observing the surroundings, but her words aligned with Wu Xiaode’s.
Wu Xiaode nodded and said:
"The Demons were initially going to take them away, but I suggested to the Demons that since these two could betray their own race, why shouldn’t they betray these two?"
The two men listened intently.
"What did the Demons say?" the girl inevitably asked.
"They agreed with my view and decided to leave these two traitors to me," Wu Xiaode said.
The two men fell into utter despair.
The girl looked into the pit of corpses, sighing, "That sister and I had past connections. I even gave clothes when her child was born, alas, it’s such a pity."
Wu Xiaode didn’t say anything.
The girl looked at him and said, "Give me your gauntlet, I’ll sew this red tendon into it. This way, your gauntlet will increase your punching speed and also carry the power of flames."
"Okay," Wu Xiaode said.
He took off the gauntlet, handed it over with the red tendon to the girl.
The girl pulled out a dagger and a needle and thread pack, starting to work on the gauntlet.
As the two men screamed again, the girl had already begun sewing the red tendon into the black gauntlets.
"Little Wu, fetch me two human heads to pay tribute to these friends," she said, focused on her sewing, not lifting her head.
"Okay," Wu Xiaode said.
The Dream Blowing Blade flashed, the blade deflecting a long, beautiful golden arc.
The screaming abruptly stopped.
Two heads soared into the air, landing outside the pit on the muddy ground.
Wu Xiaode neatly arranged the heads before the pit, bowing with his fists, "We are members of the S-level Club, fulfilling the Team Leader’s request, to pay tribute to our friends, hoping they have a peaceful journey."
The girl stopped her movements, placed her hands together, softly mumbling something.
All was silent.
The Book of the Dead silently fell, opening in front of Wu Xiaode and revealing a line of ice-crystal small characters:
"They saw it."
Who?
Saw what?
Wu Xiaode did not comprehend instantly.
Suddenly, without any warning—
Heavy shadows appeared all around.
They had translucent forms, seeming to still be alive, their expressions a mix of sorrow and relief, surrounding Wu Xiaode.
Out of nowhere, an Illusionary lamp came into view in the Void.
The moment the lamp appeared, it erupted with a "clang" sound, then quickly transformed into a fierce starlight.
One, two, three, four.
Four stars circled above the pit, quickly dispersing into countless light points, sinking into the Book of the Dead.
The pages turned on their own, again displaying lines of characters emitting a cold icy aura.
