Chapter 254: Chapter 226: Prisoner and Key! _2
"Also, take my sword with you, and if there is danger, it will bring you back," Wu Xiaode said.
The Chi Xiao Sword quietly appeared and landed in front of Gjestastav.
The cold beauty was stunned, looking at the long sword and then at Wu Xiaode, completely clueless about what he was thinking.
The middle-aged man was somewhat moved.
But he didn’t speak, just silently sizing up Wu Xiaode.
"Go," Wu Xiaode said.
"Alright, I’ll leave now."
Gjestastav grasped the long sword, gave a slight bow, and turned to leave.
In the hall, only Wu Xiaode and the middle-aged man remained.
"I’ve seen your counterpart in a parallel universe," Wu Xiaode said.
"Oh? What is my other self like?" asked the middle-aged man.
"Definitely not much like the you in this world," Wu Xiaode answered.
"That’s to be expected, a thousand worlds house a thousand versions of you, each different; thus, fate varies. That’s the nature of parallel universes."
"What if every version of you was the same?" Wu Xiaode asked.
"Then fate wouldn’t diverge, and parallel universes wouldn’t exist," the middle-aged man replied.
Understood.
In each parallel universe, you’re not really you, but another version of you that doesn’t resemble you.
It’s a bit confusing.
But that’s good.
Wu Xiaode stood up, stretched lazily, and said, "If there’s nothing else, I’ll head upstairs to rest."
"Wait a moment," the middle-aged man said.
"What?"
"Come and meet that Black Dragon with me."
"Is it the one that wants to trade intelligence for entry into world 1666?"
"Exactly."
The middle-aged man glanced at him, then added, "Your strike just now wasn’t bad, and since you’re in partnership with me and have protected my subordinate, you deserve to see what kind of intelligence that Black Dragon will bring."
"Okay."
Wu Xiaode sat down again.
"According to your prophecy, a Black Dragon will die in our world today, right?" the middle-aged man said.
"Yes," Wu Xiaode replied.
"So that’s why you sent our Gjestastav out, to temporarily keep her out of our world to keep her from dying?"
"Correct."
"I really don’t understand you prophets, now let’s see that Black Dragon."
The middle-aged man began to chant a spell.
Initially, Wu Xiaode just sat calmly on the couch, but as the other man chanted, a sense of unease suddenly emerged in his mind.
What’s wrong?
The Book of the Dead quietly flipped open, revealing the page of the "Wall of Sighs."
A deep black wall erupted with a towering ominous mist.
... Danger was approaching.
What could it be?
Could it be that Black Dragon?
Wu Xiaode narrowed his eyes and flipped his hand, gripping the Desert Sword.
"Lend me your Divine Skills," he mentally intoned.
As Desert Sword touched Wu Xiaode’s thoughts, it immediately released an invisible power, enveloping his entire body in an instant.
— Eternal Terracotta Body activated!
"Eternal Terracotta Body: Transforms the Sword Holder into an existence from the innumerable eons past, unbounded by any current laws."
Wu Xiaode’s form rapidly changed, gradually transforming into a figure resembling a porcelain vessel, still sitting motionless on the couch.
He placed the Desert Sword gently on his knees, focusing his mind intensely.
Then the middle-aged man opened his eyes and whispered, "Come in!"
The Void flickered.
A woman emerged, her body engulfed in dark flames.
Gjestastav!
Another Gjestastav!
Only her eyes were full of malice, her body emanating a faint murderous intent, standing there like a ghost full of resentment.
"The second level of the underground palace is yours," the middle-aged man said.
"It should have been so sooner; status should indeed belong to those with value and strength," Gjestastav sneered.
"You can now reveal the promised intelligence," the middle-aged man uttered.
Gjestastav glanced at Wu Xiaode.
"It’s alright, go ahead," the middle-aged man said.
"In our world, all humans are cultivated to develop Soul Power, giving them some formidable power—only then do their souls become valuable to eat, providing us with more energy," Gjestastav explained.
"This is completely pointless, as we can’t escape from sin’s prison," the middle-aged man stated calmly.
"But the Demon Gods in our world are overall stronger than yours," Gjestastav argued.
"Only you are alive standing before me; of course, if you also wish to die, I can oblige you right now," the middle-aged man stated.
Gjestastav swallowed her anger and growled, "Never mind, what I wanted to say is—ah!!!"
She suddenly burst into a scream.
An endless darkness erupted behind her, taking shape midair into a pale, sightless face, looming down over the middle-aged man and Wu Xiaode.
The middle-aged man sneered and motioned with his hand,
"So you’ve been possessed already—what kind of monstrosity is this."
A cold ice spike appeared in his hand.
But in the next instant—
He froze on the spot, unable to move an inch.
The pale, sightless face trembled slightly, and the Void around it suddenly sprouted rapidly expanding black muscles, bones, and bodies, supporting the face.
Monster...
This was a monster Wu Xiaode had never seen before!
Thud. Thud. Thud.
Three muffled sounds.
The monster’s three feet hit the ground, walking out from behind the Black Dragon, lowering its head to look at the middle-aged man, grinning from ear to ear.
Its face was somewhat human-like, with a nose sharp as a horn and a mouth that stretched all the way to its ears, displaying an indescribable eeriness.
"Strange, it should be nearby, yet I can’t find the target."
