Chapter 228: Chapter 204: Nina’s Feeding!_2
——If a real fight breaks out, they may even summon a bone dragon.
That would be a complete disaster.
It’s better not to...
The middle-aged man looked at the treasures on the ground.
"Consider these treasures as a down payment," Wu Xiaode sent a message through his voice.
"If the Black Dragon is truly dead in two days, our deal will be made," the middle-aged man said.
"Agreed."
The two finished their voice transmission.
The middle-aged man showed a smile on his face and gave a bow to Wu Xiaode and Nina.
"It’s said that once one enters the Death Demon Cave, they cannot return."
"We won’t speak of matters regarding the Death Demon Cave. We’ll keep it hidden until that person is captured," Wu Xiaode said solemnly.
This is even better!
The middle-aged man nodded, "That’s right, this time was an accident, and it was our fault, so..."
He uttered a spell.
The Void shimmered with densely packed dark runes, swirling around Wu Xiaode and Nina.
"Please return—return to the great and respectable Auffa Country, both of you," the middle-aged man said.
Swish——
All the runes flashed once.
Wu Xiaode and Nina disappeared from the Death Demon Cave.
...
Outside the Death Demon Cave.
Among the multiverse’s countless worlds.
Within the famous realm of Auffa Country.
A certain wilderness forest.
Two figures descended.
Wu Xiaode immediately collapsed on the ground, coughing up blood.
"How are you feeling?"
Nina rushed over to help him.
"I have a life-saving magic on me, and now it’s starting to fade," Wu Xiaode gasped.
After speaking, he immediately fainted.
Even with that life-prolonging magic, he had stayed on death’s brink for far too long.
Nina wiped her golden bracelet on her hand, panicked, "It’s over, all my healing potions are used up."
Previously in the Death Demon Cave, her entire team had used up all the healing items, only to be easily crippled by the One-eyed Giant.
She looked at Wu Xiaode, then glanced around.
This is the spot where they had been ambushed.
——It’s not safe at all!
What to do?
Nina gritted her teeth, reaching out to pull Wu Xiaode.
Unfortunately, Wu Xiaode’s body was as heavy as if made of porcelain, far too heavy for her to lift.
The Desert Sword vibrated lightly, retracting its power.
Only then did Wu Xiaode revert to human form.
Although Nina’s body had been healed by the Heroic Spirit, she had exhausted all her strength in the previous battle.
Now she had to find a rope, tie Wu Xiaode up, carry him on her back, and start walking away from the site of the ambush, towards safety.
Two hours later.
A cave in the mountains.
Wu Xiaode was put down by her.
Nina took a few breaths, not bothering to wipe away the sweat from her forehead, immediately went to the cave entrance to gather some grass and twigs to make a simple camouflage.
After finishing all this, she returned to the cave, closed her eyes, and slowly adjusted her breathing.
Finally.
She had recovered a tiny bit of Soul Power.
Nina immediately chanted, "Holy Light shine upon all thy children."
A faint white glow flew out of her hand, landing on Wu Xiaode’s body.
Wu Xiaode’s eyebrows moved.
Right after, he opened his eyes.
Nina was overjoyed and quickly said, "There is still hope for you! Wait for me to rest a bit more, to gather more Soul Power, and I will cast the Healing Skill straight away."
"Is this Auffa Country?" Wu Xiaode asked.
"Yes, I was about to travel to meet with the Elves when I was ambushed at the border—don’t talk, rest well for a while," Nina said.
Wu Xiaode found that he was completely unable to move.
Too exhausted.
Fortunately, Nina’s magic was very pure, and that had revived his consciousness.
The ring...
Inside the Holy Treasure Ring were top-tier rare treasures.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t move at all now.
Should he ask Nina for help?
Just as Wu Xiaode was about to speak, a sudden pain pierced his heart, followed by a sensation of being unable to breathe.
On the brink of death!
Damn it, had he been running on adrenaline before? Why only now did he feel the premonition of death?
Suddenly.
Voices came from outside.
It seemed someone was calling out Nina’s name.
Rescue!
Nina’s heart leapt with joy, and she was about to respond.
"Don’t rush, we don’t know who it is yet,"
Wu Xiaode gasped.
Nina immediately shut her mouth, looking at him, "You’re right—but you can’t wait with your injuries."
"It’s fine, take my ring. It contains many treasures, find something that can heal," said Wu Xiaode.
Nina glanced at the gemstone ring on his finger.
The Holy Treasure Ring.
"Okay, I will look for it."
She slid the ring off Wu Xiaode’s hand, about to figure out a solution, when she suddenly froze.
"What’s wrong?" Wu Xiaode asked.
"I just barely gathered enough Soul Power to heal you, and now I can’t communicate with this ring," Nina said.
Wu Xiaode was speechless.
He had already escaped the prison, and if he were to perish unclearly in this desolate wilderness, the Rotten Bones in the Undead World would certainly mock him.
"Rest for a while, recover your Soul Power," he said calmly.
"Okay."
Nina knew that his Life Force was ebbing away and quickly closed her eyes to rest urgently.
Suddenly, the cover at the cave entrance was pulled away.
Two men dressed in lavish war robes appeared.
Seeing Nina, they exclaimed with joy, "Your Highness, you’re here!"
They started to approach, but she halted them.
"Stop!" Nina shouted.
"We’ve come to protect you, Your Highness!" one of them quickly said.
Nina’s face was cold as she warned them, "If you are Royal search troops, stand guard outside the cave now and let no one enter—"
"This is an order!"
The two men exchanged glances, visibly hesitant.
Suddenly, one of them shouted, "Kill her!"
"Go!"
The two were about to act when two bronze arms emerged from the Void, covering their eyes.
The next instant.
"Woof!"
Amidst a high-pitched bark, two figures turned into ice sculptures.
A bone dog appeared amongst the ground fog, looking disdainfully at the two men for a moment before disappearing back into it.
"They were bad people indeed," Nina said, pale-faced.
She gritted her teeth, closed her eyes, and continued to recover her Soul Power.
Time slowly passed.
Finally, she opened her eyes again, held Wu Xiaode’s hands, and whispered, "Let me see what can heal the wounds on his body."
This time, a faint ripple of Power flowed from her hands into the ring.
The Holy Treasure Ring trembled.
A white fruit emitting a chill fell into her hand.
"The Frost Snow Fruit."
"A rare collectible of the Black Dragon."
"Consuming this fruit can heal all injuries within ten minutes and restore a certain amount of physical and spiritual power."
"Note: The flesh of the fruit must be consumed entirely."
Wu Xiaode said, "Nina, I need to eat this fruit. Not a single bit of the flesh can be left behind."
Seeing he was on the verge of death, Nina didn’t even waste words, she quickly began to peel the fruit.
"Come!"
She held the fruit up to Wu Xiaode’s face.
At this moment, more voices could be heard from outside, along with fluctuations of Magic and the sounds of weapons clashing.
Nina’s face turned pale, but she didn’t look outside, focusing only on feeding Wu Xiaode the fruit piece by piece.
Suddenly.
A man wearing a crown crawled into the cave.
"Nina!" he yelled with joy.
"Father!" Nina also called out with delight.
The man extended his arms, about to embrace her.
"Stop! Stay there! Don’t come any closer!" Nina hastily said, waving her hand.
The man stopped in his tracks.
Nina regained her composure and stated, "There are many ways to mimic my father’s appearance. If you are truly my father, then stay there and don’t move."
"Alright, I won’t move. What then?" the man asked with a smile.
So vigilant?
His daughter had grown up—he was truly comforted!
"Wait for him to finish eating," Nina said.
The man was taken aback and looked towards Nina’s side.
He saw a young man lying beside Nina, his mouth open, eating.
Eating...
The man looked back at Nina again.
Nina continued to break apart the fruit, feeding pieces into Wu Xiaode’s mouth.
"Eat slowly, don’t choke," she warned while feeding him carefully.
"Mhm," Wu Xiaode murmured unclearly in response.
The man was stunned.
His daughter... Had she grown up?
"Nina—"
The man composed himself, about to speak.
"Stop! If you are my father, wait until I have finished feeding him before you speak," Nina said vigilantly.
The man opened his mouth but found he couldn’t say a word.
He simply stood still, quietly watching Wu Xiaode.
This young man... who was he?
