Chapter 100: Chapter 77: The Secret of the Sin Prison (Extra for Alliance Hierarch qlvlp!)
Fog permeated the air.
Flashes of firelight flickered intermittently.
"What technique is that?" the gunman murmured.
"The power of the knuckle dusters," the team leader said.
Xiao Baihong couldn’t help but twirl his umbrella and said,
"This kid, why does he have to create so much fog when fighting? Should we go in?"
"Don’t," the team leader replied succinctly.
"The fog is meant to obscure the opponent’s vision; going in might lead us to accidentally injure each other," Ying assessed.
"Now it seems, Little Wu is not a simple martial artist," the gunman thought aloud.
The next second,
A shadow rolled out from the fog.
Everyone was on high alert, but upon closer inspection, it was that Lizard Man.
Lying on the ground with a swollen bruised face, its body was badly burned, looking deranged, it muttered resentfully,
"Dirty... too dirty..."
"This isn’t battle!"
"I don’t ever want to meet such a person again; I’d rather die!"
Everyone exchanged glances.
Little Wu’s previous battles seemed normal.
What was going on with this Lizard Man?
The team leader took out a talisman; with a slap, she stuck it on the Lizard Man’s face.
"Speak, who exactly are you, and why are you targeting us?" she demanded.
"I came to wrap things up... the mission is about to enter its most critical moment, you humans are not allowed—"
The Lizard Man’s voice abruptly stopped.
It died.
The team leader frowned and said, "Little Wu didn’t strike it hard enough to kill it; why did it die then?"
The fog dispersed, and Wu Xiaode came out of the tunnel, saying, "I suspect they have a mechanism in their bodies that causes immediate death if their mission fails."
Ying stepped forward to inspect the corpse and nodded, saying, "It died suddenly; what Little Wu said makes sense."
The monster was already dead.
Dwelling on it was pointless.
"Check the surroundings, see what’s in this T5 passage," the team leader ordered.
"Yes!"
Everyone responded and began to move deeper along the passage.
After just seven or eight minutes,
a row of storehouses appeared in front.
The gunman kicked open the door of the first storehouse, stood at the doorway and looked inside, and immediately whistled.
Inside were boxes of canned food, all neatly stacked.
"This food will last us easily for half a year," he stated.
"See what else is there," the team leader said.
Xiao Baihong gently twirled his umbrella, and the lock on the second door automatically opened.
This door revealed bottled drinking water, three times more than the canned food.
"Could this be a doomsday base?" Ying couldn’t help asking.
"It looks like it," Wu Xiaode said.
The remaining storehouses were filled with ammunition, plant seeds, medicines, and some junk.
Yes.
One storehouse was dedicated to junk.
Everyone took a look and found the junk almost encompassed various kinds of household trash.
Could there be people living in this tunnel?
——It was baffling.
Wu Xiaode was standing near the gunman when he suddenly heard a thought coming from him:
"Blow up all these munitions... Zhao Zhibing must die; need to set up a timed bomb, then find an excuse to leave here."
Mind Reading Technique.
It has to be said, this skill seems quite useful now.
But it also drained quite a bit of soul power.
Just five minutes took 0.5 of soul power, and at Wu Xiaode’s current soul power limit, it really wasn’t sustainable.
Thinking carefully—
Back in the Death Demon Cave, the One-eyed Giant must have dismissed this magic.
It was so proud, mighty and supreme.
Would it continually listen to the whispers of these ants?
That was the only possibility.
Otherwise, he couldn’t possibly have slapped it.
So...
Before he entered the Death Demon Cave, who exactly had made it use the Mind Reading Technique?
Suddenly, a piece of Scale Armor on the Demon Armor emitted a soft sound.
A Heroic Spirit was responding!
Wu Xiaode intuitively knew that the answer lay within the mirror world of one of the Heroic Spirits, waiting for him to explore.
But now was not the time.
He glanced at his soul power.
Eating and resting had recovered 2 points of soul power, which he had used up during the battle.
Now maintaining the Mind Reading Technique cost another 0.5 of soul power.
If it really came down to it—
He might ask Ya for soul power later; although it would increase the limit, it was better than running out of soul power.
"Come and take a look!"
The voice of Xiao Baihong called from afar.
Wu Xiaode snapped back to reality and hurriedly caught up with the group, walking to the end of the tunnel.
A large excavator was parked there.
Ahead, two deep caves appeared, seemingly bottomless.
Above each cave hung a sign:
"Preparation Room."
"Control Room."
Wu Xiaode silently nodded.
——The Preparation Room was the place mentioned by the Undead Officer, where a Mimic Invisibility Mecha was housed.
He needed to find a way to get in there.
It was best not to let anyone else follow.
Looking at the two caves, everyone started to speculate:
"Could they be planning to continue digging out another pathway here?"
"Possibly... but something feels off," said one.
"Yeah, are they really going to use just an excavator?" another questioned.
"It doesn’t seem logical."
Suddenly, the gunman spoke up, "Team leader, this place seems relatively safe, yet clearly something is amiss. I suggest we split into two groups to check inside; you take charge here and wait for us to return."
Here it came!
The gunman was plotting to kill Zhao Zhibing!
Wu Xiaode maintained his composure, quietly listening to his proposal.
"All right, but let’s have two-pair teams so there’s support for each other," the team leader decided.
