By the mountain stream, Chen Shi and Li Tianqing watched the porcelain fish sunk at the bottom of the water, the two young men’s faces somber.
They did not have the considerable mana that Xiao Wangsun possessed, nor did they understand why a demon transformation had occurred, turning swimming fish into porcelain fish, making them realize that this was most likely caused by the Evil Bodhisattva at the kiln factory.
"Why would the Evil Bodhisattva suddenly act up?" Li Tianqing was greatly puzzled.
Chen Shi was about to speak when suddenly a scream came from nearby. The two hurriedly looked in the direction of the sound, only to see a merchant who had just been arguing with someone appearing to be pulled by something and whistling into the sky!
Chen Shi looked up and saw an Alien Bug in the air with a human-like body, but many times longer than that of a normal person’s, as if three or four people’s bodies were stitched together, with long limbs like seven or eight arms, segmented like bamboo.
It had long limbs like human palms, except the fingers were particularly thin and long.
Its eight long limbs spread out in the air, squatting in the sky as if peering down at everyone.
Its head resembled that of a human’s, though it was disheveled and dirty. With its mouth wide open, it rapidly drew the merchant, who had just been captured, closer and stuffed him into its mouth.
Screams filled the air as the merchant was eaten by the bug, which must have been hundred of feet up in the air—a distance they were helpless to affect.
The Alien Bug’s mouth opened, and its mouthparts spread out in four directions, with sharp teeth visible under the four lips, looking extremely bizarre.
As it devoured the merchant, the sharp teeth around its mouth wriggled as if they were clasping the merchant’s body, continuously pushing it towards the bug’s stomach without chewing, just swallowing whole.
Judging by the size of its mouthparts, its head was probably as large as a ox cart.
Li Tianqing said, "That is the evil, the Traction Worm!"
Chen Shi was stunned, "How can evil appear during the day?"
The sky was not yet dark, and the sun was still there, albeit veiled in a red gauze.
Grandpa had said that evil could never appear during the day because evil absorbed the strange forces from the moonlight before awakening and roaming the human world.
The moon had not risen, so how had the evil appeared?
Li Tianqing was somewhat agitated and quickly said, "So this is the true form of the Traction Worm! The books depicted it vaguely; nobody had seen its full appearance at night. It floats in the air, and people often get pulled into the sky and eaten without seeing anything! Ten, we are the first to see the Traction Worm’s true body!"
At night, visibility was poor, and it was naturally difficult to spot the Traction Worm lurking in the high sky.
Some Cultivators had pushed their eyesight to the limits, barely discerning its insect-like shape by moonlight, hence the name Traction Worm.
But the details were not visible.
Now that it was still daylight, the true form of the Traction Worm had caught their attention.
Li Tianqing was extremely excited, taking a closer look at the Traction Worm, muttering to himself, "The book got it wrong, they even drew wings on the Traction Worm, but it has no wings! It is evil, suspended in the air, why would it need wings?"
The evil creature spit out some threads from its mouth, so fine that they were almost invisible to the naked eye, dangling downwards. The threads were nearly indistinguishable, only occasionally reflecting light when hit by the sun’s rays, but still hard to detect.
Chen Shi and Li Tianqing saw these threads hanging near the merchants who had been arguing just moments before.
"Don’t move!"
Chen Shi quickly waved his hands at those people and shouted loudly, "You must not move!"
But some had already been scared out of their wits, abandoning their goods and immediately running for their lives. However, as one person moved, he collided with one of the Traction Worm’s dangling threads.
The thread was extremely sticky; once it touched him, it adhered to his body. The thread, having been disturbed, alerted the Traction Worm, and in the next moment, the man was lifted into the air, soaring towards the sky!
Li Tianqing also yelled, "Don’t run, stand still!"
But who would listen to them when they were so terrified?
The people who had just been arguing scattered in all directions, each bumping into the invisible threads.
In the sky, the Traction Worm swiftly reeled in its threads, with those stuck to them struggling desperately to tear free. The stickiness of the threads was astonishing; touching a hand, it stuck; touching the body, it stuck; they could not be torn off.
Around twenty people from both sides of the merchant convoy, along with ox cart drivers, their oxen, and several horses, became stuck together and were pulled into the air.
However, because there were too many people and animals stuck, the Traction Worm started to struggle noticeably, and its reeling speed was greatly reduced.
Chen Shi’s eyes lit up, and he suddenly ran at full speed to the shore, shouting loudly, "Tianqing, prepare the Six Yin Jade Wheel!"
Li Tianqing didn’t understand his intent at first, but the Divine Shrine’s Divine Embryo immediately manifested behind him, activating the Six Yin Jade Wheel.
Chen Shi had reached the mountain path, lifted a rock weighing over a thousand pounds, spun around, and with a whoosh flung the rock into the air.
Li Tianqing instantly grasped his intention and praised, "Clever!"
The rock hit the Traction Worm’s unseen threads and got stuck there.
"Whew! Whew! Whew!"
Chen Shi threw one rock after another, aiming for the threads in the air, quickly clearing the vicinity of rocks.
Some rocks missed the threads, but most got caught.
The Traction Worm, already having trouble pulling more than twenty people and several cattle and horses, was now compounded by the weight of these rocks and abruptly succumbed, getting pulled downward instead.
Chen Shi sprinted, searching for more boulders to throw, each successively caught on the threads.
The Traction Worm was slowly being pulled closer to the ground by him!
This evil insect screeched wildly in the air; as people fell to the ground and looked up, they could now clearly see the peculiar patterns on the body of the Traction Worm—intermingling yellow and white, resembling the structure of a talisman.
Floating in the air, the patterns on the bug alone made it look like a massive talisman.
But the content of the talisman was a mystery.
In just a few moments, the Traction Worm had been pulled down from over a hundred feet in the air to just over ten feet above the ground, within Li Tianqing’s range for the Six Yin Jade Wheel attack!
Li Tianqing immediately mobilized the Yuhuan Step, his hands forming seals, launching wave after wave of invisible jade wheels, slashing towards the Traction Worm in the air!
At the same time, Chen Shi threw even more stones, hanging them on the silk threads, pulling the Traction Worm even lower.
The Six Yin Jade Wheel slashed across the Traction Worm, sparking flames. The Jade Wheel shattered, and the shards flew about fiercely, razor-sharp!
Li Tianqing changed techniques continuously, creating more and more Jade Wheels. Some wheels kept cutting at the same spot, eventually slicing open the exceptionally tough shell of the Traction Worm, green sap oozing from the cut!
Finally, the Traction Worm fell to the ground. Only then was its massive size apparent. Its long body stretched out over ten zhang, its seemingly delicate legs were in fact thicker than the trees by the road!
Its body thrashed about, causing the trees around it to topple and sway!
This Traction Worm was incredibly angry and forcefully tore at those silk threads.
Although the silk helped it to catch "food," it also restrained it.
Luckily for the creature, its brute strength was astonishing, and it snapped three or four threads in a moment. Just then, Chen Shi lifted a huge rock, leaped high into the air, and smashed it fiercely onto its head!
"Thump!"
The Traction Worm’s head cracked open, and it staggered dizzily, while the large rock also shattered into pieces.
"How come Little Ten is fighting so wildly and viciously?"
Li Tianqing got a fright and waved his hands continuously, changing hand seals, sending Jade Wheels striking the Traction Worm repeatedly, slicing open many parts of the Traction Worm’s body.
The Traction Worm screamed in pain, straining to snap another silk thread.
Chen Shi lifted a thousand-jin heavy boulder and, using it as a hammer, pounded furiously on one of its legs, quickly breaking it.
He was just about to smash another leg when suddenly, the Traction Worm kicked out powerfully, hitting Chen Shi in the chest and sending the boy flying, creating a shadow that ended with a loud bang against a cliff face more than ten zhang away.
"Little Ten!"
Li Tianqing yelled in alarm.
At that moment, a voice came through the dust: "I’m fine... kill it first!"
Li Tianqing focused all his attention, attacking the Traction Worm, but the creature was simply too big. Even the Six Yin Jade Wheels caused wounds; they were not fatal.
The Traction Worm, in a fury, spewed white breath from its mouth. Li Tianqing couldn’t dodge in time and was sprayed, the white breath coalescing into sticky silk.
"Damn it!"
He lost his footing, involuntarily lifted by the Traction Worm, falling towards its mouth!
Li Tianqing frantically activated the Jade Wheels; one after another, they whirled and rushed into the mouth of the Traction Worm!
Simultaneously, Chen Shi charged again, picked up a boulder from the edge of the mountain stream, leapt high into the sky, and descended from above, smashing it hard on the Traction Worm’s head.
Its head was as big as an ox cart, covered in tousled hair that, from a distance, looked like a messy head of hair, but up close, each strand was as thick as a finger and as hard as steel.
The stone Chen Shi smashed down was indeed large, but it only staggered the Traction Worm.
The boulder split in two, and Chen Shi dropped the rock, his fists raining down like a hammer, pounding crazily!
"Thump thump thump thump!"
A series of extremely dull sounds rang out as he punched right through the Traction Worm’s head, his arms sinking deep into its brain matter!
The Traction Worm violently thrashed its head, making Li Tianqing fly left and right, unable to steady himself. Nonetheless, he desperately energized the Six Yin Jade Wheels; the wheels spun rapidly, slicing through, entering its mouth!
Suddenly, a Jade Wheel burst from the back of the Traction Worm’s head, finally piercing through the creature’s head!
Chen Shi’s body was already buried in the Traction Worm’s head, yet he still hammered downward relentlessly.
At last, with a heavy thud, the creature collapsed to the ground, struggling a few times before moving no more.
Chen Shi then snapped out of his frenzy, panting heavily. Li Tianqing, entangled in silk, rolled on the ground for a few rounds, his eyes wide with lingering madness not yet fully faded.
Chen Shi crawled out from the head of the Traction Worm, rolled onto the ground, and lay there, not wanting to move at all.
He felt a strong sense of hunger, as if he had tasted something that whetted his appetite but not satiated, desiring to eat something more.
The Traction Worm decayed rapidly, its limbs emitting foul bubbles. Chen Shi quickly got up and moved away, only to see the large creature decompose completely in mere moments, leaving behind only a puddle of liquid—nothing else remained.
"What exactly are demons made of?"
Chen Shi was thoroughly puzzled. "Ghosts? Creatures? Spirits? Or something else?"
"Demons are demons, not among the categories you mentioned."
Li Tianqing, who had read extensively, said, "Demons are things that are unreasonable and incomprehensible. No one knows where they come from or where they go when they die. Perhaps from the moment we set foot on West Bull New Continent, demons have existed."
Chen Shi thought of the patterns on the Traction Worm’s body, feeling increasingly odd.
Those patterns resembled talismans.
"After this demon died, it decayed quickly, leaving no bones or shell, just some stinky liquid. Thinking back, the talisman creatures of Old Iron Pen, after being shattered by me, also turned into red cinnabar blood, spilling everywhere. This seems somewhat similar to the scene before me."
He sighed. "It’s a pity that this demon decayed too quickly; I couldn’t memorize the pattern of talismans on it..."
"I remember."
Li Tianqing said, puzzled, "Little Ten, what do you need the demon’s patterns for?"
"I want to conduct an experiment! Black Pot, Black Pot!"
