Chapter 668: Chapter 301: Second Hell

The mists of the Immortal Bridge Blessed Land grew heavier, as Daoist Jin Lu stood beside the collapsed immortal bridge, his heartbeat gradually quickening.

The mists approached ferociously, and by the time he noticed them, it was already a bit late to leave.

Suddenly, a chilling scream pierced through the mist, making Daoist Jin Lu’s heart skip a beat. He knew someone had fallen victim.

Another scream followed, then another, the cries of despair echoing endlessly from all directions in the Immortal Bridge Blessed Land.

"Chen Shi was right, this place is indeed extremely dangerous. I should leave immediately!"

Daoist Jin Lu hesitated no longer and quickly moved in the direction Chen Shi had gone.

Concentrating fully, his divine shrine floated behind him, with the Divine Embryo anchoring it. He condensed a stream of Sword Qi, illuminating the surroundings, wary of the dangers lurking in the mist.

He was cultivating the Flying Immortal Sword Scripture, which, according to legend, could achieve the level of Corpse Resolving Immortal. The final step was to use the sword one cultivated to replace oneself in death, deceiving the Yin Messanger, while the True Body would escape the records of death and wander freely.

This Sword Scripture was the supreme skill of the Taishang Haoyuan Palace. Unlike the Xuanwei Sword Scripture, it wasn’t as intricate and mysterious, but refining a strand of Sword Qi with it was incredibly powerful, capable of destroying anything in its path.

Crying screams emerged in succession all around, as more scholars fell to misfortune at every moment.

Daoist Jin Lu quickened his pace, racing forward like a fleeting light and shadow.

He swiftly traveled over a hundred miles, estimating he should be nearing the end of the Immortal Bridge Blessed Land, yet even after advancing several dozen more miles, the mist still lingered!

Ahead, over a dozen scholars were frantically running. Daoist Jin Lu’s heart lightened in joy, as he prepared to go over and join them. Suddenly, a clawed limb jutted out from the mist, grabbing one of the scholars and dragging him back into it.

One by one, bizarre claws emerged from the mist, reaching for the scholars. Even with their extraordinary skills, they couldn’t evade, being seized by those strange claws and vanishing without a trace.

Seeing that things were amiss, Daoist Jin Lu immediately activated his Sword Qi, merging his form with it, transforming into a streak of sword light that soared into the sky!

"There’s still one more!"

Just as he lifted off, a gnarled hand reached out from the mist, grasping the sword light.

Daoist Jin Lu was horrified, struggling fiercely, yet the power of that gnarled hand was unimaginably great.

A giant mouth in the mist opened wide, parting the surrounding haze, its nimble tongue flinging out, winding around Daoist Jin Lu and, with a whoosh, drawing him into its mouth!

When Daoist Jin Lu fell into that monster’s mouth, he looked up to see its teeth like white giant hammers descending from the sky, smashing against his body.

With just one strike, his Physical Body was crushed to pieces!

His Primordial Spirit tried to escape, but as soon as it flew from his body, a gust of sinister wind swept it into the monster’s stomach.

"Regret not heeding Chen Shi’s advice..." In his final moments, a futile thought suddenly surfaced in his mind.

The monstrosities in the mist devoured everyone in the Immortal Bridge Blessed Land, then meticulously searched, failing to find any survivors. Many of these demons began to fight amongst themselves, trying to devour one another.

At that moment, a whistle sounded in the mist, followed by lashes of long whips whipping across the demons, leaving their flesh torn and bloody.

These exceedingly ferocious demons became much more subdued, like cattle, being driven by the sound of the whistle toward the direction where a group of scholars had fled.

The mist undulated, faintly behind the demons came the sound of rolling wheels. A Ghost God with a lower body like a massive wheel, exuding multiple arms, withdrew its long whip, swiftly moving through the mist.

It seemed to be herding, with the monsters in the mist as the cattle, and the scholars and other cultivators as the grasses feeding the livestock.

Now, this patch of pasture had been consumed, and it was time to seek out the next grazing ground.

Chen Shi and the others walked at the foot of the mountains of these giant Buddhas, everyone looking up in awe; the blood-red eyes of the Buddhas were extremely conspicuous in the underworld, a realm where only ghostly light existed.

Unable to resist, one scholar activated a flame spell, the fire sprouting wings in the air, transforming into a Fire Phoenix, soaring high.

Wherever the Fire Phoenix passed, it illuminated the areas around those blood-red eyes.

They were eyes growing on the great Buddhas, with thick, long tentacles behind them.

The eyes seemed curious about the Fire Phoenix, chasing after it, but their tentacles were not long enough, often being pulled back after a short flight.

"What exactly are these eyes?"

The scholar muttered to himself, "Are they creatures of the underworld, or Buddha’s eyes? And these giant Buddhas, are they stone statues? Sculpted from entire mountains? Why carve so many?"

The thought filled him with apprehension.

If these Buddhas were sculptures carved from mountains, how much labor and how long would it take?

Moreover, how could stone statues grow such eyes with flesh and blood?

If the great Buddhas weren’t stone statues, could they be living beings made of flesh and blood?

"Gugui."

A strange sound came from beneath the feet of the giant Buddha beside them, as the eye at its ankle opened, revealing a massive blood-red eye, turning to stare at them.

Everyone’s scalp tingled; most of them were at the Nascent Soul Realm or Divinity Transformation Realm, not considered weak by any means, yet in face of the eyes on these Buddhas, they were somewhat daunted.

The blood-red eyes floated up, hovering above them, gazing ominously.

This eye was about an acre in size, staying at a distance, the red light from its gaze painted the path before them a ghastly crimson.

As they moved forward, a gugui gugui sound came again, as massive red eyes sprouted from the Buddhas, floating above them, illuminating their path.
