Chapter 591: Chapter 272 Zhong Kui
Outside Western Capital City, as the evening glow rose, a white elephant came into view.
The giant elephant’s body was snow-white, as if carved from white jade, only its size was enormous, even taller than the city walls of Western Capital. On the elephant’s head grew upward tufts of hair, forming a fountain shape, and upon these tufts, wooden planks had been constructed, covered with golden blankets.
Several towering strongmen, about ten feet tall, stood bare-chested at the corners, vigilantly scanning their surroundings.
And on the elephant’s back was a wooden tower, with three floors, verandas on all sides, and each floor had people standing on it, dressed in dazzling golden armor, with Primordial Spirits standing several yards tall behind them.
Inside the third floor of the wooden tower, a few individuals looking like scholars stood by the window, looking out, talking, and laughing.
"Which one is the young master?" the crowd stretched their necks in anticipation, someone called out loudly.
At that moment, another gigantic elephant came into view, heading towards Western Capital City.
On the head of that elephant were also strongmen on guard, the Yellow Turban Warriors glimmered with golden light, immensely strong, suddenly letting out a roar like a fierce tiger’s Dragon Roar, a sound that overwhelmed the thunder.
And on the back of that elephant was a lotus platform, around twenty to thirty feet in circumference, and what drew the most attention was a Ten-foot Golden Body monk, his head surrounded by a halo of Buddhist light, presenting an otherworldly Pure Land spectacle.
This Pure Land, called Western Heaven.
The monk stood atop the lotus platform, overlooking the people on the streets of Western Capital City and on the buildings, like a Buddha watching over all living beings.
"Is the young master the monk?"
Someone shook their head, "That’s not the young master! That monk is the Saint Heir Wu Xiang from Great Baoguo Temple."
On the lotus platform, there was also a woman, with a dignified appearance, holding a pure bottle, showing great compassion. She was the Bodhi Dojo’s Saintess Xuan, whose worldly name was Ji Xuanxuan.
Another was also a young man, appearing refined and flirtatious, but Chen Shi overheard someone beside him saying that this person was Fan Kongliu, a disciple from another great Buddhist Holy Land, the Water Moon Sacred Realm. He was ordained with hair but had a flirtatious nature and had affairs with many women.
Chen Shi’s gaze landed on them, thinking, "These are all experts! However, with Saintess Xuan among them, could she be but a mere figurehead?"
He scanned over the crowd, feeling that although these people were also quite outstanding, they should not be the young master.
The two white elephants entered the city one after another. They were too large to fit through the city gates, but an array of talismans lit up on all four legs of the elephants, with hundreds of talismans on each thick leg, allowing the giant beasts to tread on green clouds, slowly rising and walking over the city gate, entering the city.
The crowd looked up to see, feeling as if two floating white islands were moving.
Suddenly, a massive spotted deer approached, its head adorned with branching antlers, and there were people standing on each branch of the antlers, legs crossed, holding bows and arrows, and vigilantly watching their surroundings.
The cultivation of these Divine Archers was not weak, with Primordial Spirits floating behind them, several times larger than their bodies.
Their Primordial Spirits had three heads and six arms, each one drawing bows and readying arrows, presumably having practiced some mysterious skill that allowed these extraordinary spectacles to manifest in their Primordial Spirits.
On the back of the spotted deer was a cloud of celebration, with rays of rosy light and auspicious vapors, on which stood a few young Taoists, all refined in appearance.
"The young Taoist holding a whisk, with a Jade Ruyi faintly visible behind him, is known as Yu Lingzi, the Daoist heir of the Taoist Sacred Land, Taihua Qing Palace," someone beside Chen Shi said excitedly.
Chen Shi looked towards Yu Lingzi and saw his energy reaching Hua Gai, his Qi-Blood extremely vigorous, with the almost invisible Jade Ruyi behind him hiding a remarkable Taoist Skill. The aura he emitted was so strong that, despite the crowd between them, it was still overpowering, even making Chen Shi feel pressured.
"Truly extraordinary!" Chen Shi exclaimed.
"Backsword Taoist Jin Lu, comes from the Taoist Sacred Land, Taishang Haoyuan Palace!"
Chen Shi’s eyes then falls on Jin Lu, but he could not sense Jin Lu’s Qi, which made him sober: "This man has true skill."
The third Daoist sat amidst the celebration cloud, with a white jade hairpin atop his head. Chen Shi looked at the person beside him, but they remained silent, apparently not recognizing this Daoist.
"I thought he knew everyone," Chen Shi said to himself.
After the spotted deer passed, three more deer came, and the person beside Chen Shi continued to be excited, introducing the remarkable heirs from various Great Families on the backs of the deer.
After the white elephants and the spotted deer had passed, the noise increased, and the atmosphere reached a fever pitch, as if the earlier arrivals were merely a prelude to the arrival of the young master, with the main event yet to begin.
Chen Shi too found himself caught up in the atmosphere, craning his neck in anticipation.
But then he saw celestial lights surpassing the glow of dusk outside the city, with rainbows rising, turning into various sized arenas heading toward Western Capital.
"Those are the experts from Fuzheng Pavilion!" cheers erupted from the crowd.
There were quite a few Primordial Spirit Arenas, each harboring the mysteries of different Taoist Skills. From within the arenas came either chants or prayers of gods, grandiose and mystical.
One by one, mutant beasts with different shapes trotted over the rainbow light, with the backs of these exotic beasts either standing or sitting, formidable experts from Fuzheng Pavilion, dignified and solemn in appearance.
And behind these arenas came a dazzling Void Great Realm, boundless and vast, with the sun and moon floating in the sky; though it was dusk and the moon had appeared, the celestial bodies that shone in the sky illuminated the land as bright as day.
At that moment, a Fire Qilin stepped on flames, walking out from the Void Great Realm.
"The young master!" someone shouted.
"Young master! Young master! Young master!"
Inside and outside of Western Capital City, the atmosphere was at its peak, and people were throwing their arms up and shouting fervently.
Suddenly, a voice filled with masculine magnetism overpowered the crowd’s cheering, clearly reaching everyone’s ears: "Du Wanshu, Chief of Punishment from Zhenzhou, you governed Zhenzhou, yet raised Evil Spirits, feeding them with the common people to create Elixir of Immortality in pursuit of everlasting life. I have long been investigating your crimes, capturing both evidence and contraband, yet you managed to escape. Now that you have arrived in Western Capital, where can you flee to?"
