Chapter 475: Chapter 226: Reviving the Yin Commander_2
The Bee Girl supported Chen Shi, walking toward another room where several other Bee Girls had already brought in hot water to pour into a large wooden tub.
When Chen Shi approached, the water in the tub was nearly full.
Then the Bee Girl began to help him undress, and Chen Shi hurriedly covered his waistband and pleaded, "Sister, I’ll do it myself!"
The Bee Girl laughed, "What’s there to be shy about, young master? Wasn’t it I who changed your clothes earlier? What haven’t I seen?"
Chen Shi blushed and said, "Please, good sister, let me take them off myself."
The Bee Girl giggled, "Alright, alright! You can take them off yourself."
"And you, step back--don’t peek."
The Bee Girl did as told and went behind the screen, saying with a laugh, "I’m not looking at you."
Soon after, she couldn’t help herself and said, "Young master, I have already seen everything just before."
Chen Shi, his face blushing, took off his clothes and entered the bath tub.
Hearing the splash, the Bee Girl came out from behind the screen, and Chen Shi hastily said, "What are you doing here? Get out, quickly!"
"Of course, to help the young master bathe."
The Bee Girl said with a cheeky grin, "If I don’t help you wash, how will you have the time to detoxify the poison inside your Nascent Soul?"
Chen Shi turned red from embarrassment, sitting uncomfortably in the tub as the Bee Girl took a silk towel to wipe his body, laughing, "Young master is also a cultivator, why are you so restless? I’ve heard from the master that cultivators should remain as unmoved as Tai Mountain even if it collapses before them, wander among flowers without attachment, and encounter beauty without desire. Why then does the young master’s heart pound so wildly?"
At her words, Chen Shi sobered up and said, "I take your point."
After saying this, he let her help wipe his body while he focused on circulating his Qi-Blood to remove the remaining toxins from his Nascent Soul.
This bee poison seemed to be a unique toxin refined by the bee swarm countless times, likely mixed with the underworld’s poisonous miasma. Once afflicted, one would become completely paralyzed, even their soul affected—an extremely fierce affliction indeed.
But Chen Shi had already consumed a large quantity of Detoxification Pills, replacing the toxic Qi-Blood in the Nascent Soul, and quickly resolved the toxins within.
Opening his eyes, he asked, "Sister, where are we?"
The Bee Girl smiled, "The young master must not call me sister. My name is Feng Ling’er; you can just call me Ling’er."
She paused, then continued, "This place is called Bee Mansion on Qianyang Mountain, it’s where the Bee Man among the Yin Commanders resides."
"The Bee Man among the Yin Commanders?"
Chen Shi, still not quite understanding, asked, "What are these Yin Commanders?"
"The officers and generals of the underworld include the Day and Night Patrol Deities, Black and White Impermanence, Bull-headed, Horse-faced, Ghost King, Leopard-tailed, Bird-beaked, Fish-gilled, and Bee Man. The Bee Mansion is where the Bee Man lives."
As Feng Ling’er helped him scrub his chest, she laughed, "Our master is one of the Yin Commanders, has military power in the underworld, and oversees the life, aging, sickness, and death of the insect classes."
Chen Shi, puzzled, asked, "Uncle Ma—has he already passed away? Otherwise, why would he be a Bee Man in the underworld?"
Feng Ling’er shook her head, "The master is in the prime of life; how could he have already passed?"
Still not understanding, Chen Shi heard Feng Ling’er laugh, "Although the master is a person of the mortal world, he can still exercise the divine powers of the underworld while alive."
Chen Shi felt moved inside. He remembered his grandfather mentioning that some people, before their death, would take up duties of the underworld while living in the mortal world—for example, there were people who became reapers, guides for the dead, helping capture evil ghosts who escaped to the mortal world to wreak havoc.
These individuals were called Living Reaper, Living Impermanent.
There were also those whose lifespan had reached its end, who evaded death using various skills, requiring Living Reapers or Living Impermanence to capture and bring them to the court of hell for trial.
Chen Shi had only heard of these things before; he never thought the beekeeper Uncle Ma would be such a living Yin Commander.
"By the way, Nannan’s previous life seemed to be an active Yama of the ancestral divine continent, who became King Yanluo while still alive," thought Chen Shi.
"Young master, raise your leg, let me scrub it for you," said Feng Ling’er.
Chen Shi hurriedly replied, "No need!"
Feng Ling’er suggested, "Then you stand up, and I’ll help you scrub."
With a flushed face, Chen Shi stammered, "Ling’er, I can wash by myself."
Feng Ling’er chuckled, "You, a cultivator, are so restless again? Alright, you wash by yourself."
She handed the silk towel to Chen Shi and retreated behind the screen.
Chen Shi quickly stood up and scrubbed himself. He had sweated, and a lot of muddy sweat mixed with toxins and filth seeped out, emanating an unpleasant smell; indeed, he needed a good scrub.
After scrubbing himself clean and wiping off the water from his body, Chen Shi got out of the tub and reached for his clothes.
Hearing the noise, Feng Ling’er came out from behind the screen and smiled, "Young master, let me help you get dressed."
Chen Shi hastily covered his lower body, turned his back, and yelled, "Go back, hurry back!"
Feng Ling’er giggled, "Why are you hiding? I’ve already seen everything there was to see earlier!"
She saw Chen Shi about to jump back into the bath barrel and hurriedly said, "No helping, no helping. The set of clothes you wore to sleep are soaked with sweat, they can’t be worn again. I’ve prepared new clothes for the young master, you should change into this set."
She brought over a new set of clothes, placing them on the stool beside Chen Shi.
Chen Shi promptly turned his back to her.
Feng Ling’er saw his bare bottom, her mischievous heart leapt, and she slapped it, giggling and running away.
Chen Shi turned to look and, seeing her gone far away, he finally felt at ease and dressed himself piece by piece. However, after he had put on his inner garments, Feng Ling’er came back in with a giggle, helping him with his outer robe and straightening the lapels.
Then she led him to a dressing table to do his hair, winding it up and placing a small golden crown on his head, secured with a short golden hairpin.
Chen Shi stood up and she fetched a red silk belt, helping Chen Shi to tie it around his waist and hung a peace-ensuring Jade Pendant at his side.
Chen Shi, after being dressed up by her, looked into the mirror and saw a handsome and spirited young man with a dashing appearance. He couldn’t help but smile at his reflection in the mirror.
"Come with me, young master,"
Feng Ling’er led Chen Shi out of the room, through the long corridor, past several grand halls, to a study, and stopped outside, bowing, "Your Highness, the young master has arrived."
"Come in," a deep voice came from the study.
Feng Ling’er pushed open the door, gesturing at Chen Shi.
Chen Shi’s heart skipped a beat, unease welling up within him.
Before his grandfather died, he had said that his friend Ah Zhuo, around the Great Southern Lake area, was the epitome of loyalty, but Granny Sha had said that the beekeeper Ah Zhuo was corrupted by an Evil Spirit ten years ago and had become a great Evil Spirit.
Now, he was about to meet his grandfather’s friend, and he couldn’t help but feel apprehensive.
Chen Shi steadied himself and walked into the study.
Inside the study were rows upon rows of bookshelves, and on the shelves squatted little indigo Evil Ghosts, hanging upside down, holding writing brushes, busy writing and drawing on the books.
The little ghosts on the bookshelves glanced at him and then resumed their work, licking their brushes and continuing to write.
A broad-shouldered young man stood between the shelves, furrowing his brows in concentration as he read a scroll, seemingly wrestled with a difficult problem.
Seeing him enter, the young man’s brows relaxed, he sized up Chen Shi from head to toe, put down the scroll, stepped forward, and patted Chen Shi’s shoulders heavily, holding his shoulders and examining him again before laughing, "Little Ten, you finally decided to visit your uncle!"
Chen Shi bowed, "Nephew pays respect to Uncle Ah Zhuo!"
Ah Zhuo helped him to stand, laughing, "We, as uncle and nephew, need not adhere to these worldly formalities. The last time I saw you, you were still in your coffin, lifelike. It’s just that in recent years, I’ve been swamped with official duties and had no time to visit you on Qianyang Mountain."
His bushy eyebrows and big eyes had a simple quality, exuding a hearty spirit and a straightforward manner, he bluntly asked, "How is your grandfather doing?"
With a somber tone, Chen Shi replied, "Grandfather has passed away, he’s gone to the underworld."
Ah Zhuo paused, then laughed and slapped his own palm, "He died well."
Chen Shi looked up at him in astonishment.
"His physical body had long been refined to be indestructible; even after death, he would descend to the underworld in his physical form, which would be perfect to seek me out."
Ah Zhuo looked at him with anticipation, smiling, "When did your grandfather pass away?"
"It’s been over half a year," said Chen Shi.
"Over half a year?"
The hope in Ah Zhuo’s eyes faded, tinged with disappointment, he said, "He hasn’t come to visit me in all this time... Did he mention me before he passed?"
Chen Shi quickly said, "He did. Grandfather mentioned that Uncle Ah Zhuo is most loyal, his close friend. He also talked about many past stories with you. He said, if I encountered any difficulties, I should seek you out and that you would surely help."
Ah Zhuo’s smile reappeared, murmuring, "I knew he hadn’t forgotten about me. His failure to seek me out in the underworld must have been due to other entanglements!"
His spirit lifted, and he declared jovially, "Forget this ghostly book. We uncle and nephew have finally reunited, and we must drink to our heart’s content!"
Chen Shi said, "I don’t know how to drink..."
"No matter, no matter. The wine of the underworld is just some insipid water."
Ah Zhuo began to walk out, laughing, "How old are you this year?"
"Twelve years old, turning thirteen after the new year."
"You’ve forgotten; you were also dead for eight years! You’re twenty this year, about to be twenty-one!"
Ah Zhuo laughed, "I met your grandfather when I was ten, and he got me drunk as a lord! You’re of age now, you can drink!"
"Ten years old?"
Chen Shi muttered, "My grandfather was truly a beast..."
"Don’t you praise him. He’s worse than a beast," Ah Zhuo laughed heartily.
