Chapter 455: Chapter 218 The Strongest Hitman in the Underworld
The geography of the underworld is different from that of the mortal world, but Chen Shi had once understood that changes in the mortal world’s locations would also prompt changes in the underworld.
For instance, if one enters the underworld from Huangpo Village, dense fog prevails, within which terrifying ghosts and goblins lurk to devour the souls of the dead. However, entering the underworld from Dejiang would lead to the River of Oblivion, with its waters hiding children beneath seashells.
And entering the underworld from Phoenix Ridge results in a field of lotus, where ghostly deities hide in the skies to guard the lotuses.
The Lord of Wuwang Manor determined from the underworld’s geography that the crescent moon had most likely made its way to Yudou.
"If one wishes to evade the inquiry of the underworld’s deities, the best option is not to hide in Yudou or to be reincarnated as an about-to-be-born child, but rather to be reincarnated as a child that should not be born," said the Lord of Wuwang Manor, with profound implications. "The filthiest and most chaotic place, a mother who has just died, a child that should not be born—hiding the crescent moon there would perfectly avoid the search of the underworld."
The company was shaken in spirit. Could it be that Nannan was that Yue Ya’er who had escaped from Yama Yuanchen Palace?
"The way to know if she is the Yue Ya’er who fled the underworld is simple—just look at her Yuan Chen Palace," said Great Snake Xuan Shan. "The Yuan Chen Palace is where the Divine Soul resides. If she is indeed Yue Ya’er reincarnated, she will surely have her previous Yuan Chen Palace with her."
Chen Shi hesitated, recalling the defrauded Stone Rock Lady and kindly advised, "Everyone, if you threaten her, you may attract the devilish deities from the underworld, known as Black and White Impermanence, who are quite formidable."
Granny Sha chuckled, "When it comes to spells for souls, no one surpasses me."
She was quite self-assured.
Over the years, she had delved deeply into spells related to souls, achieving a level of mastery rare in the world. Otherwise, Chen Yindou wouldn’t have repeatedly sought her help to rescue Chen Shi.
The Lord of Wuwang Manor smiled slightly and said, "Old Lady’s skills with souls are indeed exquisite, but I’m not inferior."
Great Snake Xuan Shan assured, "Little Ten, rest easy. We are only inspecting Nannan’s soul to trace her origins, without causing her the slightest harm. Moreover, not knowing whether she is good or evil, we must first clarify her background. Otherwise, having her reside on Qianyang Mountain is not safe."
Chen Shi hesitated, while Green Sheep smirked, "No need for concern. Present here are Qianyang Mountain’s top beings, and it is bound to be foolproof."
After considering for a moment, and knowing that Qianyang Mountain Lord and Huang Hu were also present, Chen Shi thought it unlikely for anything terrible to occur and said, "Be cautious. Nannan is currently in Huangpo Village, playing with Black Pot."
Great Snake Xuan Shan announced, "I have already seen her."
He transformed into the cloaked Xuan Shan, walked across the sky with ease, and headed straight for Huangpo Village.
With the sky beneath his feet as if it were flat ground, he moved quite leisurely, which made Chen Shi intensely envious and he thought, "After cultivating the Nascent Soul, one can learn the skill of flight. I wonder if outside the True King’s Tomb in the stele forest, such a spell exists."
Green Sheep shot out with a whoosh, Granny Sha carried her basket, and Qianyang Mountain Lord walked with the tiger, as the group made their way to Huangpo Village.
"Wait for me!"
Chen Shi couldn’t fly, so he quickly activated the Armored Horse Talisman and dashed down the mountain, as swift as the wind and as fast as lightning, hurrying towards Huangpo Village.
Having just reached the base of the mountain, the cloaked Xuan Shan and Lord Wuwang and the others had already arrived outside Huangpo Village.
The father-daughter boatmen were casting nets on Yudai River. Having built a house in Huangpo Village, they seemed intent on settling there. Black Pot and Nannan were fishing by the shore, each holding a fishing rod and donning golden straw hats, and both wore blue sunglasses to shield their eyes from the river’s glare.
"Out of the way, pup," said Granny Sha.
Black Pot turned around, gazing at them with puzzlement.
"Little Daoist, don’t be afraid."
Cloaked Xuan Shan stepped forward, extended a finger and gently pointed towards Nannan’s glabella, saying, "We mean no harm. We only wish to see your Yuan Chen Palace."
The boatman father and daughter were startled and about to intervene, but Cloaked Xuan Shan’s finger had already touched Nannan’s forehead. Suddenly, the sky dimmed, a chill wind howled, and billowing black mist swirled behind Nannan, braiding and intertwining like enormous, endless chains!
Then, suddenly, a mourning stick lashed out, striking Cloaked Xuan Shan’s finger. Two devilish deities, one in black and one in white, stepped out from the darkness, intercepting his spell, while their mourning sticks flew around in all directions, beating fiercely against Cloaked Xuan Shan.
Cloaked Xuan Shan grunted, his body convulsing.
Despite not injuring his flesh, the mourning stick lashed his divine aspect and soul, causing intense pain.
His body trembled, and he saw his divine aspect ejected from his body, flying out ten miles away!
"Be careful!" he groaned in pain, lying on the ground as enlightenment struck him. He shouted, "They are targeting your Primordial Spirit and divine aspect!"
Before he finished speaking, Granny Sha reached out and with a vague grasp, recaptured his divine aspect and soul, inserting them back into his body.
Green Sheep charged forward, but as the mourning stick swung his way, he blocked with his hand, only for his Primordial Spirit to be shocked and thrown from his body, flying more than ten miles away. His physical body fell to the ground, convulsing and foaming at the mouth as if he had contracted goat madness.
Huang Hu roared, leaped into the fray, was struck squarely by a stick, his divine aspect flung away as he cried out, "They specialize in targeting souls, Primordial Spirits, divine aspects—be careful!"
White Dragon and Granny Zhuang rushed in from the side. Before they could take action, they were struck by two sticks as well. Both their Primordial Spirits and divine aspects were flung out, with pain so intense it almost twisted their bodies into pretzels.
Granny Sha seemed to have grown dozens of arms, reaching out to seize their Primordial Spirits or divine aspects. However, as quick as her movements were, Black and White Impermanence were quicker.
Green Sheep’s Primordial Spirit returned to his body, and he attempted another charge at Black and White Impermanence. One of his horns was struck by a mourning stick, convulsing his body as his Primordial Spirit was struck out yet again. He yelled, "Although their strikes are painful, they can’t harm me! Press on with confidence!"
