Chapter 177: Chapter 100 The Mighty Lord of the Blue Sky
The road in front of the manor was not wide, less than thirty-six feet, paved with bluestone. On one side of the road lay the manor, and on the other, the clear river, where trees and fragrant flowers and plants were planted along the bank.
The rich merchant from southern mountains was a fastidious person, and the flowers and trees along the road were all cultivated by the servants of the manor. Whenever a flower withered, the servants would dig it up and bury it, then plant fresh, blooming flowers in its place.
Although this practice cost a good deal of money, the merchant’s family was wealthy.
Suddenly, a splash of fresh blood fell upon the flower beds, followed by bursting Sword Qi flying chaotically, destroying the fresh flowers beyond recognition.
Even the valuable trees planted by the river were felled, several of them chopped down.
Fu Leisheng, using a seven-foot bamboo as a spear, infused it with True Qi and charged forward. The narrow road restricted the use of his long spear, as any carelessness might cause him to strike the houses or trees on either side.
Moreover, he had been practicing the spear since he was a boy, but after a lifetime of practice, he rarely had to use it in a real fight, let alone in a life-or-death struggle.
Now, with the seven-foot bamboo in his hands, in this street, he could only execute the five most basic moves: stab, plunge, sweep, point, and shake.
The seven-foot bamboo vibrated, deflecting the invisible Sword Qi. Though the Sword Qi was swift, once hit by the bamboo spear, it would either fly upward, soaring high into the sky, or veer off to the side, slicing into the walls and leaving deep sword marks, or cut through countless flowers and plants, plunging into the clear river.
The bamboo could not resist a Cultivator’s Sword Qi, but infused with True Qi at the Golden Core Ninth Transition, it became incredibly tough. Even when confronting Sword Qi, it would only send off sparks, unable to be cut through.
"Tsch!"
With a thrust of his spear, Fu Leisheng pierced through the chest of a Golden Core Realm Cultivator rushing toward Chen Shi.
The Golden Core Realm Cultivator clenched his teeth, his face twisted in ferocity, about to trigger a Spell to fight to the death with Fu Leisheng. Suddenly, Fu Leisheng’s waist powered through, the spear shook, and the man’s entire skeletal structure disintegrated, his body flung into the river.
After making the thrust, Fu Leisheng retracted his spear, advanced, and lunged with a side-step. While still two zhang away from his enemy, the tip of his spear had already pierced the opponent’s abdomen.
He let go and retreated, turning and advancing with a sweeping motion of his spear. The spearhead struck the ground and shot upward violently, lifting into the groin of the man charging towards him, shattering everything below the waist.
Devoid of the strength to resist, the man knelt on the ground and collapsed.
As Fu Leisheng charged forward, he took a step of over ten feet, driving his spear toward another opponent’s throat. That Li Family servant, without a second thought, activated a Spell, diverting the spearhead with Sword Qi, only to see the tip of the spear flicker and leap off his throat, whizzing past his eyes.
The man’s eyes were punctured, and he screamed, heedless of his companions around him, releasing Spells in panic, as Sword Qi flew in all directions.
Fu Leisheng shook his spear, a strike to the shoulder, a second to the head, followed by the third and fourth strikes cutting across the joints in each of the man’s limbs. Then, with a smack of his spear on the man’s neck, he knocked the body over onto the ground.
His techniques were extremely simple, but effective, thrusting his spear and killing several men in succession.
By his ear, the sound of bamboo cutting through the air followed by a series of whistling sounds. In an instant, Chen Shi advanced twenty zhang from the other end of the street, his firewood knife slaying several men while those wearing brocade guards and holding Bird Guns had just shown their heads and were yet to fire before being pierced by the bamboo.
Fu Leisheng was killing in a frenzy, having slain more people in these brief moments than in his entire life.
His eyes were blood-red.
Yet the ground was littered with corpses, and more bodies continuously fell from the sky, landing at his feet. If he was not careful, they could trip him up.
These were the Li Family servants and brocade guards who had died at the hands of Chen Shi.
Those who could be called servants were experts who had reached the Golden Core Realm and had the qualifications to be servants.
The brocade guards, known as house servants in the Li Family, were often descended from Scholars, who, upon reaching the Divine Embryo Realm, had no chance of advancing further; those who failed to become Scholars could only be considered as house servants.
Even with Fu Leisheng’s fiery rage and resolve to die, eager to kill everyone immediately, he was somewhat shocked at the sight of these corpses.
There were too many who had died by Chen Shi’s hand.
"If this were a banquet, I could probably only sit at the same table as Black Pot," he thought ruefully.
These men often died under the bamboo.
Chen Shi was wielding the bamboo, employing the Meridian Evil Slayer Sword’s Stabbing Sword Style.
The Meridian Evil Slayer Sword, one of the most powerful Spells available to cultivators in the Divine Embryo Realm, was considered the simplest sword technique, which also meant its variations were pitifully few. This was a significant drawback making it easy for opponents to anticipate and avoid the Sword Qi.
Moreover, another drawback of the Meridian Evil Slayer Sword would become evident once one reached the Golden Core Realm: its power had a limit.
The maximum distance the Sword Qi of this Spell could travel was thirty-six zhang. Beyond this range, the Sword Qi would dissipate.
Chen Shi had reached the Golden Core Realm, achieving the Golden Core First Transition. Most cultivators at this level would abandon the Meridian Evil Slayer Sword and switch to other Spells.
However, in his hands, this simplest of Spells exploded with unimaginable power. His True Qi, enhanced bamboo combined with the Meridian Evil Slayer Sword’s Stabbing Sword Style, was astonishingly formidable.
Even if the opponent was a Golden Core Realm expert, they would be knocked off balance by the tremendous impact force, toppling backwards.
Which often meant they had already been pierced through the body by the bamboo, and were dying.
His bamboo was often used against Li Family servants in high places and those brocade guards with Bird Guns hiding behind walls.
Positioned above, releasing Divine Skills from a superior height was very disadvantageous for them, so they had to be eliminated first.
