Chapter 113: Chapter 68: One Man Destroys a Clan

In the governor’s camp, silence reigned. Then, all at once, it erupted into a cacophony of voices, and the governor Zhao Tianbao was surrounded by various sounds bursting forth. Following that, the officials from the Ministries of Revenue, Justice, and War burst out of the camp in a rage, chasing after Chen Shi.

Then, various influential figures from Xin Xiang Province, like grieving parents, cursed and wept while they rounded up the imperial guards, leaving the camp to capture the rebel.

The Lords of Tianlu, Earth Network, and Huangting Mansions were the fastest to act.

Among the four mansions of the Zhao family, Zhao Yanlong, the Master of Xuanying Mansion, had been caught off guard, his Primordial Spirit blasted into oblivion and his physical body slaughtered. Seeing one of their own so viciously attacked, they were filled with rage and naturally burst forth to seek vengeance for Zhao Yanlong.

Governor Zhao Tianbao’s expression was dark as he lifted his foot. With this step, he was already in the air, treading the clouds with ease.

His aura had completely burst forth, and everyone and everything within miles felt as if they were being oppressed by a Moving Mountain Talisman, as though they were carrying a Golden Mountain upon their shoulders.

Behind him, his Primordial Spirit materialized, towering over ten zhang, an imposing and spectacular sight.

The visage of his Primordial Spirit was filled with rage, like a wrathful deity, unspeakably fierce and terrifying, exuding an overwhelming presence.

Those imperial guards who had rushed out of the camp hoping to achieve meritorious deeds were instantly suppressed by his aura, unable to move.

And the knights and soldiers raised by the other mansions stopped in their tracks, their horses refusing to move forward. Only the officials from the various ministries could resist the oppressive aura exerted by governor Zhao Tianbao.

However, they too only made a show of resistance. Now, with Zhao Tianbao’s aura on full display, indicating his intention to personally execute the murderer, they naturally fell a step behind.

The masters from the Tianlu, Earth Network, and Huangting mansions did not stop their pursuit and rushed forward at incredible speeds, closing the distance with Chen Shi quickly.

Although Chen Shi had used an Armored Horse Talisman and greatly increased his speed, how could he possibly outrun the elite of the Zhao family?

From afar, several individuals unleashed their Golden Cores. More than twenty Golden Cores flew ahead along the provincial road. Wherever they passed, the trees and leaves on both sides seemed to be pierced by countless invisible needles, becoming riddled with holes as the trunks twisted and bent.

The riversides, too, were like boiling water, bubbling and steaming!

Many Nascent Souls also flew out, even causing the ground of the provincial road to crack!

This destruction was caused by the overflowing power of the Golden Cores and Nascent Souls.

A Golden Core or Nascent Soul, if levitated in balance, would appear harmless. But once activated, its force would become terrifyingly fearsome.

The people of the Zhao family were furious to the extreme.

In their presence, one of their mansion masters, a relative, had been killed. They would avenge Zhao Yanlong, regardless of whether the culprit was the Emperor himself – not to mention the perpetrator was not the Emperor, but a milk-nosed child!

Though they were fast, governor Zhao Tianbao was faster. On his second step, he had already reached above Chen Shi.

Just then, his heart suddenly found an unparalleled peace, the previous rage vanished without a trace.

Even his intense killing intent disappeared. Suddenly serene, he was like an enlightened, old monk.

So peaceful, with not a hint of emotional turbulence.

Below, the pursuing masters from the various mansions also found their minds returning to a state of tranquility, without stray thoughts or murderous intent. It was as if they had been devout Buddhists for a lifetime, now not even wishing to harm an ant, let alone take a life.

Next, they saw a young man in black clothes holding a paper umbrella standing by the roadside.

Governor Zhao Tianbao felt an icy chill, trying to trigger his own tension, but he simply could not. He wanted to feel fear, yet fear too had disappeared.

"Go!"

His rational mind told him, he had encountered an unfathomably skilled master. He immediately turned and to the pursuers from the Zhao family, he said, "Back to the provincial city."

The Zhao family’s masters also regained their composure like him, retracted their Golden Cores and Nascent Souls, and turned back towards the provincial city.

The other officials who had caught up also stopped, looking at the governor and others, bewildered.

By the roadside, the young man in black holding a paper umbrella smiled as he watched Chen Shi speeding away.

Suddenly, a weathered yet strong hand grasped the handle of the paper umbrella, snatching it away.

The black-clad Xuanying Mansion Master seemed helpless as he said, "Yindu, while this item cannot fully suppress your Demonic Nature, it will be alright during the day. However, when the moon rises at night, you’ll be in danger."

Chen Yindou, holding the umbrella handle as if it were nothing out of the ordinary, replied, "You are mistaken. It’s not I who will be in danger, but the rest of the world."

He continued on, holding the paper umbrella.

"Do not start a massacre."

Xuanying Mansion Master said, "Your current state is very unstable. Killing will only hasten your fall."

Chen Yindou waved his hand dismissively, "I hold a common umbrella, and my heart is common."

Governor Zhao Tianbao returned to the government office, the Zhao family’s masters returned to their homes, and the others did the same, bewildered by the strange occurrence.

Zhao Tianbao had a maid brew him tea. As the tea approached his lips, his Buddha-like composure suddenly vanished, replaced by anger and fear. His hand shook as he held the teacup, causing it to clink audibly against the saucer, splashing tea onto his garments.

Zhao Tianbao put down the teacup; his hand was still trembling and unresponsive.

He had no idea how someone had managed to influence his emotions. With his level of cultivation, how could anybody affect his state of mind?

Yet he was influenced, abandoning his vengeful anger and return home completely at peace, without a single murderous or resistive thought along the way!
