Chapter 274: Chapter 182 A Good Instructional Video is Worth Watching Over and Over Again_3
"Master Qin, your rest is the most important. We’re just used to getting up early."
"Yeah, yeah, the mall is having a sale today, so we’re just sitting here waiting for it to open."
"Oh, is the mall having a sale?"
"Shut up!"
Qin Huai could only apologize with a smile as he went to the changing room to get dressed, heading into the kitchen.
At this moment, the kitchen was not just filled with Chen An, Qin Congwen and the helpers led by An Youyou; Pei Xing and Li Hua were also on duty, prepping the fillings.
Judging by the progress of their snack making, they must have come in early. Normally, they start work at 8 AM, and by this time, they should still be dealing with the yeast.
The little tail, Qin Luo, also followed into the kitchen, eagerly asking, "Brother, what are we having for breakfast today?"
"Three Meat Buns," Qin Huai replied without hesitation.
Originally, Qin Huai hadn’t planned on making Three Meat Buns. The buns on his menu were Five Fillings Bun.
But hasn’t the situation changed? Three Meat Buns had an epic upgrade. He was so engrossed in watching a tutorial on Three Meat Buns last night that he stayed up late. If he didn’t make them this morning, it would have been a waste of his rare late-night effort.
Qin Luo didn’t know that Qin Huai had already listed out the snacks he wanted to make for her before coming back. She only knew that Three Meat Buns were meat buns with a delicious filling!
Tastier than the meat buns made by Qin Congwen.
Loved it!
Qin Luo happily went to a corner to eat a flaky pastry.
But Qin Huai didn’t let her off the hook.
"Did you do your homework?" Qin Huai asked Qin Luo, and Zhao Rong immediately shot Qin Luo a sharp look.
"I..." Qin Luo opened her mouth, trying to say that doing homework on an empty stomach wasn’t good for her.
"Didn’t you hear your brother? Do your homework first. He just got here, the yeast still needs time. The buns won’t be ready for over an hour. You didn’t do your homework properly yesterday, so go do your homework first and then come back for the buns when they’re ready," Zhao Rong sternly said.
Qin Luo: QAQ
Qin Luo sadly went upstairs to do her homework.
Qin Huai began kneading dough, with last night’s tutorial video replaying in his mind.
Jiang Weijin’s dough-kneading moves were simply beautiful, skillful, experienced, with every point on target, using just the right amount of force.
Maybe because Jiang Weijin had a leg injury and couldn’t exert force as normal people do, combined with the fact that he’s over fifty and his bodily functions are declining. He kneads dough with such finesse that he manages to use the least effort to knead the perfect dough.
The technical expertise is maxed out.
Not to mention the dough he was kneading was for the Three Meat Buns.
Qin Huai wasn’t new to online classes. As someone skilled at them, after watching online classes all night, his first instinct was to mimic Jiang Weijin’s kneading action this morning.
Saying "mimic his action" isn’t quite correct; it’s better to say he was searching for his technique in exerting force.
As a result, Qin Huai’s dough-kneading moves were slightly exaggerated today.
Chen An didn’t notice. He was just an ordinary breakfast chef, slightly better than the average breakfast shop chef, not professionally trained. Standing by Qin Huai every morning to learn kneading tricks, he might not learn much. Having not seen Qin Huai for over a month, noticing something different about Qin Huai’s kneading would be miraculous.
Chen An may not have noticed, but Pei Xing and Li Hua did.
These two were professionals.
Pei Xing’s eyes were about to stick to Qin Huai’s hands, unable to move away.
Li Hua gave Pei Xing a look, and Pei Xing tried to restrain himself but couldn’t help whispering.
"Don’t you think Qin Huai seems a bit different today compared to yesterday?"
"I’m not blind," Li Hua said, "But yesterday he was kneading dough for Crab Dumplings; maybe it didn’t require full effort."
Pei Xing suddenly understood and thought that made sense, then said, "With these skills, why would he open a community restaurant at the neighborhood gate?"
"If I had his skills, I wouldn’t leave Zhiwei Restaurant; I’d be strutting around Zhiwei Restaurant!"
When ordinary people say this, it might be an exaggeration, but when Pei Xing says this, Li Hua believes he genuinely means it.
"Who knows." Li Hua said indifferently, "It’s said that Zheng Siyuan’s skills are also impressive, yet he too opened a pastry shop at the neighborhood gate."
"Maybe rich people like them prefer these neighborhood spots. If I could afford a house in Yunzhong District, I wouldn’t be a pastry chef either."
Pei Xing was a little baffled, "It can’t be."
Li Hua: Forget that punk, he lives nearby too, you damned rich people!
Li Hua didn’t want to talk anymore and quietly prepped the filling.
Qin Huai didn’t notice the interaction between his colleagues; he was fully focused on kneading dough. After kneading, he diced the ingredients and realized his Knife Skills were genuinely lacking.
Qin Huai had to rely on Pei Xing and Li Hua, whose Knife Skills were passable, to handle the chopping, while he continued kneading the dough.
He needed to make Three Meat Buns, and also the other snacks. Today is Sunday, and Qin Luo would have no time to indulge in snacks tomorrow when school starts. Qin Huai had to make everything on the list today.
Qin Huai glanced at the time and saw it was already 8:40 AM.
By the time the Three Meat Buns were done, it’d likely be after 9:30.
For the average working person, having breakfast at 9:30 on a rest day seems acceptable. But the canteen is filled with many elderly folks who’ve finished their morning run by 6 AM. Isn’t this breakfast time a bit...
Not so great for their appetites?
Qin Huai peeked at Xu Tuqiang, who sat central to the scene.
"Mr. Xu, these buns might take another 50 minutes. Do you and the others want to have something else first?" Qin Huai looked at the kitchen, "The buns, dumplings, wontons, and fried dough sticks from my dad and Master Chen are all available."
Crucially, with so many people sitting here and no proper breakfast on the table—just soy milk and green bean soup—it looked weird.
If someone new came in, casually bought breakfast to go, or sat down to eat, there’d still be seats available.
Zhiwei Restaurant isn’t far from the mall and metro; each morning, there are regular customers and many passersby. This bizarre scene could make passersby think the breakfast shop owner is peculiar.
Opening a community restaurant and hiring so many extras to sit around—it’s too much for hunger marketing.
"No need." Xu Tuqiang said robustly, "We’re not hungry!"
"We filled up on our morning run, so we’re just sitting here to digest. 50 minutes for breakfast is perfect!"
Qin Huai: ...
Mr. Xu, are you serious?
Look at you, sitting next to Uncle Wang, who’s never falsified accounts, always upright and honest.
Uncle Wang almost looks like he wants to dig a hole and hide himself.
