Chapter 34: She must wear _1
That was quite a statement.
Chen Yao’s fingers flicked open the cigarette case. He took one out and handed it to Lu Siyuan with both hands, his eyes crinkling in a smile.
"Do you need me to personally light a cigarette for you, and then sit here properly to listen to what you have to say?"
At first hearing, Chen Yao’s words seemed quite ordinary, but upon closer thought, there was a layer of deep meaning that somewhat carried the sarcasm of, ’Are you questioning me?’
Lu Siyuan’s heart skipped a beat, and her hand froze.
Don’t go against Zhou Luchen and Chen Yao. That was taboo.
Whatever they believed to be true, regardless of whether it was right or wrong, to argue was undoubtedly to stand in opposition and contradict them.
"That’s not what I mean. We’ve known each other for so long, and we’ve hung out together for so long. Of course, I know Brother Yao isn’t someone who can’t tell right from wrong."
Chen Yao nodded, "Hmm."
"Zhao Zhiqiang is my uncle by marriage. He’s been especially doting on my aunt these past few years."
The implication in Lu Siyuan’s words was clear: if they were such a loving couple, how could he possibly harass other women?
Chen Yao grabbed his coat. "Got it. I’m not interested in your family affairs. Take your time eating; I have other matters to attend to, so I can’t accompany you."
He neither disliked Lu Siyuan nor particularly liked her.She was quite pretty, though.Any woman who could stay by Zhou Luchen’s side had to be outstanding in all aspects. The goddesses many netizens adored were just so-so, after all. Nothing special.Zhou Luchen probably felt the same way.
It was getting dark when Shen Jing heard the meal delivery bell and immediately got up to open the door.
The head chef pushed the dining cart into the presidential suite and patiently introduced the dinner.
There was not only braised sea bass but also desserts and red wine.
"Please enjoy your meal."
She lifted the pure silver cloche.
Her Luchen had become a fine dish before her eyes.
She vented her ’five minutes’ worth of frustration on the sea bass.
No more. She wasn’t keeping it.
Even if, when it was caught and brought ashore, however willful she had been then, deep down, she had been just as gleeful—how much He Qi liked it.
Shen Jing slowly walked toward the bathroom door. As she approached, the RUSHING sound of the shower inside grew louder, intensely stimulating her senses.
She raised her hand and knocked on the door.
"I’m going to start dinner now!"
The door opened at that moment, steam billowing out with it.
Moist fingers landed on her wrist and pulled her in without warning.
Shen Jing’s upper body wobbled and fell against Zhou Luchen’s bare chest.
Taking advantage of the momentum, Zhou Luchen pulled her lightweight form to straddle his waist, then lowered his head to kiss her collarbone and the line of her neck.
Pale, delicate.
The water cascading down was too cold; Shen Jing shivered. "Enough... enough, we can’t keep playing like this."
With his youthful vigor and strong desires, it was inevitable that he always seemed insatiable.
After a while, Zhou Luchen finally let go, his gaze slowly slanting towards her, his expression inscrutable. "Satisfied?"
Shen Jing’s face turned red. When it came to playing dumb and innocent, she was exceptionally skilled. "I haven’t had dinner yet," she said. "How could I be satisfied?"
But to Zhou Luchen, her acting seemed a bit naive. He twitched a corner of his mouth as he looked at her; he really didn’t have time to continue playing with her in the bathroom.
A thick bathrobe was placed in her hands—he wanted her to help him put it on.
Shen Jing stuck out her tongue, her hands reaching around his back to slowly slip it on him.
The warm light from the spotlights cast a suggestive tinge amidst the luxury.
Zhou Luchen’s arms supported her hips, holding her steady around his waist while she fitted the bathrobe over him.
His long legs strode out of the bathroom.
His muscles were firm, his embrace warm and broad, making Shen Jing seem exceptionally petite in his arms.
Even a cold shower couldn’t dissipate the heat radiating from his body.
His physical stamina was truly impressive, Shen Jing thought, for him to insist on holding her like this while she helped him put on the bathrobe.
Zhou Luchen slowly lowered his gaze, his forehead resting against hers. "You’ll be staying by yourself tonight."
Shen Jing looked up and couldn’t help but ask, "You’re not coming back? Where are you going?"
He was expressionless. "Zhao Zhiqiang’s matter."
Shen Jing said, "Oh."
It was strange for him to be so direct. Usually, he wouldn’t tell her what he was going to do.It was always just those two words from him: "Busy." Which meant, ’Don’t ask too many questions.’
She was set down by Zhou Luchen before the dining table. Looking up, she asked him if he wasn’t going to have dinner.
He casually donned his bathrobe, went to the walk-in closet, and after a while, emerged changed, then closed the door and left.
Shen Jing picked up her chopsticks, sat at the bar watching a show, and had her dinner.
A glass of red wine, a single red rose.
Then she suddenly remembered Lu Siyuan was still waiting for him.
Was he deceiving her? Lying that he was going to see Zhao Zhiqiang?
Shen Jing put a few grains of rice into her mouth. "This fish really should have been braised."
Having always been coddled and put on a pedestal, Zhou Luchen always acted like a jerk, expecting her to tolerate his philandering and bad temper.
-
Lu Siyuan’s long wait ended when Zhou Luchen finally appeared.
He wore an exceptionally refined black shirt that exuded an air of nobility, tucked into black trousers.
Even from a distance, when he glanced down at his wristwatch, his shoulders lifted slightly, and the fabric of the shirt stretched taut over the contours of his chest muscles.
The potent aura of a mature man was intense and captivating. His hormonal presence was almost palpable, seeming ready to burst forth.
Lu Siyuan felt her heart flutter. She followed him in her high heels.
There was no hint of reproach for him not answering the phone or opening the door; she truly managed to completely hide that sour feeling the moment she saw the captivating Young Master Zhou.
Zhou Luchen truly possessed a kind of magic. Despite knowing of his libertine ways, he could make one’s spirit go off track, forgetting his heartlessness.
He had changed into new clothes and had a new female companion. His phone was often turned off, making him unreachable, and occasionally, calls would be hung up by those around him.No matter how you asked, he wouldn’t answer.
She didn’t know in what capacity she could even try to manage him. Never mind, she had favors to ask.
"Boss, why didn’t you answer your phone? You made me wait for so long."
Zhou Luchen glanced at her. "Is there a film for you to shoot here?"
"There’s one in Hong Kong. I was in the neighborhood, so I came by to see you. There are fewer paparazzi here; they won’t get any shots," Lu Siyuan responded with a smile.
Chatting, Lu Siyuan naturally got into Zhou Luchen’s black executive sedan.
The armrest, designed with a redwood tea tray, always had a glass of iced lemon water and a packet of White and the World prepared for him in advance.
It seemed this preference of his wasn’t going to change.
Lu Siyuan rested her chin in her hand, looking at him with a charmingly sweet expression. She took out a lighter, gently pressed the turbo, and obediently lit his cigarette.
The flame shot up. The man tilted his head slightly, his every move exuding an air of nobility.
Lu Siyuan watched, mesmerized. It was only after she heard his derisive chuckle a moment later that she realized how unbecomingly she’d been staring.
"Zhao Zhiqiang is my uncle by marriage. I know his conduct was wrong, and Shen Jing didn’t suffer any real loss. Please, could you not pursue it any further?"
Zhou Luchen hummed a "Hmm?", his gaze faintly disinterested.
Lu Siyuan bit her lip. "Could you please let this go for the sake of peace? I’m begging you, alright?"
She continued, "If this matter escalates too much, your father will get angry too." Lu Siyuan had gleaned much from what Zhao Zhiqiang had told her.
"Just let it slide for my sake, please. My uncle’s hands do deserve to be chopped off, but... you know, if a man sees a woman dressed so flamboyantly, especially after a few drinks, he’s bound to feel a little... tempted."
This was Lu Siyuan’s line of reasoning. Pure victim blaming.
Zhou Luchen wasn’t listening to Lu Siyuan. "You’re trying to dictate my affairs, hmm?"
How could Lu Siyuan dare to truly intervene? She was just relying on their acquaintance, hoping he might back off.
The more she thought about it, the more silent Lu Siyuan became.
After all, he was an international banker, the one closest to resources and power, manipulating the ever-changing tides of the capital market.
"How could the boss be the kind of man to fly into a rage for a woman? I shouldn’t get involved in your plans. You decide for yourself."
At this moment, Lu Siyuan was being sensible.
