A Twisted Love Affair
Chapter 25: Weirdo_1

Chapter 25: Weirdo_1

A nanny van was parked on the side.

As the electric door slid open, a faint scent of perfume instantly wafted over.

The superstar stepped out of the car in high heels.

Shen Jing hadn’t wanted any interaction with Lu Siyuan, but the latter called out to her.

Lu Siyuan was tall and slender, and in her high heels, she appeared half a head taller than Shen Jing.

"Why are you here too?" Her tone was loaded with meaning.

To Shen Jing, Lu Siyuan’s face only ever displayed a professional, insincere smile when greeting someone.

Shen Jing replied, "Of course, I live here."

Lu Siyuan sized Shen Jing up, pondering for a moment before taking her bag from her assistant without further conversation.

"Let’s go," Lu Siyuan said, clutching her handbag. "Mr. Zhou will need this soon."

Liang Yingning watched the graceful figure enter the elevator and mimicked Lu Siyuan’s affected tone.

"Mr. Zhou will need it—"

Shen Jing tapped her on the head.

***

Lu Siyuan knocked on the door of D9998.

Facing the wealthy second and third-generation scions in the presidential suite, Lu Siyuan tossed her long hair and greeted them with practiced ease. "Brother Lin, you’re back from abroad! I didn’t expect to see you here today."

Wei Sulin, busy with work, merely nodded in acknowledgment.

Lu Siyuan had gone to United Bank to find Zhou Luchen. She arrived just as his secretary was about to deliver a USB drive. With a few quick words, Lu Siyuan intercepted it, insisting on bringing it to him personally.

Zhou Luchen leaned back on the sofa, his fingers flipping through a file.

Lu Siyuan took Zhou Luchen’s hand and gently placed the USB drive in his palm. "I saw her."

Zhou Luchen’s gaze lowered.

"Shen Jing," Lu Siyuan hooked his finger and continued, "I almost thought you two were back together. You clearly said you’d stand by me."

Zhou Luchen’s gaze swept over her. "Have your eyes swollen from crying?"

"They really were," Lu Siyuan complained earnestly. "I had to get injections at the beauty salon this afternoon to look better. Otherwise, how could I see you?"

Zhou Luchen’s fingers touched a soft lock of hair by Lu Siyuan’s temple, tucking it behind her ear. "Don’t cause trouble."

The words "don’t cause trouble" were a warning: don’t cross the line and stir things up. He most disliked women who brought drama to him.

Lu Siyuan understood his meaning.

"I won’t," Lu Siyuan said softly, looking up at him. "In your eyes, Boss, am I that kind of person?"

His lips curved slightly. "Of course not."

Lu Siyuan knew she had frequently crossed the line; he was probably tired of it by now.

Rather than share a man with someone else, she was more afraid of her backing collapsing and losing everything she relied on Zhou Luchen for.

In the entertainment industry, a star’s career was precarious; one misstep, and it was all too easy to fall overnight.

She never dared to hope for his love, not even to think about it. What she aimed for was the title of top actress in the country, high-end luxury endorsements—any resource that could help her maintain her fame long-term.

The next morning at dawn, Shen Jing, rushing to get back to Su City for work, still encountered Zhou Luchen as he was leaving.

As they brushed past each other, she could smell the feminine perfume on him—a soft, creamy ice cream scent.

"TCH," Shen Jing sneezed deliberately. "How fragrant."

The man got into his car, seemingly without noticing her.

Shen Jing shot him a quick glance, then nonchalantly settled into Liang Yingning’s passenger seat and buckled her seatbelt, her eyes never leaving Zhou Luchen.

Only when the white McLaren had left the parking lot did Shen Jing’s eyelids finally droop.

Liang Yingning was curious. "Who made you so obviously angry?"

Shen Jing didn’t respond, so Liang Yingning didn’t press further.

「Twenty minutes later」

The sports car stopped smoothly at the gates of the Zhou Mansion, and the engine died.

Zhou Luchen lit a cigarette. He rested the hand holding it on the car window, his shirt sleeves casually rolled halfway up, his tousled bangs pushed back from his forehead.

After a while, he sniffed at the perfume on his clothes.

He remembered those upturned, fox-like eyes, looking so strangely sarcastic.
