Chapter 26: Brothers Persuasion Wars (I)
Evelisse sat straighter, voice soft and careful. "I have been learning embroidery and etiquette, father. And... trying to take care of Snugglewuff. He is very fluffy."
A warm laugh echoed from the head of the table. "Fluffy, is he?"

’He has no idea how fluffy,’ Evelisse thought.
Seraphina’s eyes sparkled, but she said nothing. She seemed different now. Softer. Calmer. Evelisse watched her mother quietly through the flicker of candlelight.
’Her expressions really change like flipping pages,’ Evelisse mused.
Fluffy chimed, ’Motherhood is acting. Royalty is theater.’
As the main course ended, Queen Seraphina dabbed her lips with a napkin. "Darling, I have a suggestion."
Aldric turned toward her. "Yes, my lady?"
She smiled gently. "It’s been some time since the children had a proper escape from these castle walls. I suggest a family trip."
Gasps, whoops, and clinking forks echoed from the table.
"A trip?" Evelisse gasped.
"Like... actual outside?" Lance added.
Seraphina laughed softly. "Yes. Sunshine. Nature. Refreshing air."
Aldric looked at his children. "If you all agree... we can do it. But there’s one condition."
The table leaned in.
"You will vote. All of you. Unanimously. I want you to decide together. The location must be within our borders. For safety."
Leo clapped. "Ooooh. So like a challenge?"
Jared grinned. "A sibling quest!"
Lucien sighed. "This is going to be chaos."
Lance elbowed him. "You love chaos."
"Only if you let it, Lucien." Aldric said.
Evelisse’s heart skipped. A family trip. Somewhere magical. Something they *all* chose?
Aldric added, "You have three days to choose. Think wisely."
The energy buzzed with excitement.
Felix turned to Evelisse. "We’re going to find the coolest spot ever."
She smiled, eyes sparkling. ’This sounds fun.’
Queen Seraphina tapped her glass cup lightly to gain their attention. "Alright everyone, let’s finish dinner, and tomorrow, begin our planning. We expect submissions in three days."
Jared raised his hand. "Can mine be a song?"
"No," Seraphina replied.

Later that night, Evelisse curled on her favorite reading cushion, Fluffy spinning above her like a lazy feather.
"Well?" he said. "What are we thinking?"
"I need to research properly," she said. "We must consider safety, accessibility, and fun. As a royal. As a sibling. And as someone with a dog."
"You sound like an actual queen-in-training," Fluffy said proudly.
Evelisse reached for one of the old journals on her shelf. The spine cracked as she opened it.
Inside: a folded parchment map. Slightly yellowed, but inked in vivid colors. The Kingdom of Florabelle, its borders glowing under moonlight.
Her finger traced possibilities—Moonvine Ridge, the Sunroot Windmill Town, the Skyblossom Orchard floating just above the clouds.
Each place held charm. Each place held a whisper of magic.
"I want something everyone would enjoy," Evelisse whispered. "But also something that feels like... home."
Fluffy twirled in the air above her head, his pink tail shimmering faintly in the candlelight. "That’s going to be hard with seven dramatic brothers."
The royal study room she had claimed as her personal thinking den was filled with soft golden glow from a nearby enchanted lantern. Scrolls and maps were scattered across the rug like puzzle pieces waiting to be assembled.
Evelisse sighed as she sipped strawberry tea from a porcelain cup shaped like a bunny. Her pink nightgown pooled around her, and her silky slippers dangled from her toes. "It needs to be magical. But not too cold. Not too crowded. Not too remote."
Fluffy hovered beside a particularly glittery corner of the map. "What about here? The Skyblossom Orchard?"
"It’s literally floating in the sky," Evelisse muttered. "I don’t think Jared would survive the altitude. He gets dizzy on balconies."
"What about Moonvine Ridge?"
"Too gloomy. Felix might cry."
"The Windmill Town?"
"Too noisy. Callum will ask to bring every mechanical part back with him."
Fluffy rolled dramatically mid-air. "You’re impossible."
Evelisse giggled. "No. I’m just being considerate."
A soft knock interrupted their planning.
Her head whipped in the direction of the door, her heart beating harder.
’Who could it be at this time of the night?!’ She wondered, simply staring and unable to move out of fear.
Her life had barely been a ball of normal, so she had every right to be weary even if the guards were placed in strategic places in the hallway.
That cursed doll she had adjusted several times until it finally stayed in the same position she had kept it, had done wonders to her sense of safety.
If it wasn’t because of Fluffy, she would be a walking paranoia.
"My readings says its your brother. It’s safe, princess." Fluffy commented.
’Oh!’ Evelisse let out a breath she didn’t know she had held for a while. ’Okay, thank you.’
"Anytime, princess." Fluffy responded with a grin.
"Come in?" she called, adjusting her tea saucer.
The door creaked open, revealing Leo with his tousled golden hair and charming grin.
"Hey squirt," he greeted, winking. "Room for a traveler with a proposition?"
Evelisse blinked, quickly slipping into her innocent pretentious character. "Brother Leo?"
He stepped in and closed the door behind him. "I heard you’re the deciding vote. Thought I’d make my case early."
Fluffy darted behind a bookshelf, thrilled to play pretend hide and seek even though only Evelisse could see her system’s chibi form.
’They’re coming in strong already?!’ She shook her head at Fluffy’s pathetic attempt at hiding.
Evelisse straightened like a tiny noblewoman. "What is thy proposal, Sir Leo?"
Leo dropped dramatically to one knee, hand over his chest. "A journey to the Snowmelt Mountains! Picture it: glowing icicles, endless snowball fights, frozen lakes you can skate across, and don’t forget—"
He reached into his coat and pulled out a folded parchment.
"—the Ice Cream Tower. It’s real. A seven-story dessert house built from frost-magic cream and enchanted toppings. Felix cried when he read about it."
Evelisse gasped. "That does sound wonderful..."
"Exactly. We’ll build snow creatures. Host snow duels. I’ll teach you how to ski down dragon slopes."
"I’m seven," Evelisse pointed out.
"I’ll ride behind you. Like a heroic sled brother."
She pressed her lips together in a serious line. "I shall consider it."
Leo smiled and kissed her forehead. "You’re the best."

As he left, Fluffy reappeared. "That was... dramatic."
A second knock followed.
"Again?" Evelisse whispered.
