Chapter 49: Chapter 49: Never Seen Such a Shameless Person
Gandan Xue looked up at Shen Yanhe with a face full of fear, the milk on her face embarrassingly dripping down. Her heart felt as if it were soaking in an ice cellar, overwhelmed by chilling fear as her body trembled slightly.
She could feel it.
Shen Yanhe was serious!
She would really kill her!
Shen Yanhe glanced at her with a gloomy expression and turned to leave.
She was afraid that if she stayed any longer, she might not be able to restrain herself from acting.
After she left, Gandan Xue finally let out a heavy sigh of relief, her body collapsing, and allergic symptoms followed one after another. She gasped and struggled to speak to the cook who had stepped aside, "Quick! Call an ambulance!"
As soon as her words fell, her eyes rolled back, and she fainted.
Shen Yingying, enduring the pain in her abdomen, crawled frantically toward her, crying out miserably, "Mom! Mom! Are you okay? Mom!"
The ambulance arrived quickly, and Gandan Xue was rushed to the hospital.
Upon arrival at the hospital, her face had swollen so much she looked like a pig, and her exposed skin was covered with frightening red rashes.
The doctor rushed her into the emergency room while sternly reprimanding, "Knowing full well that the patient is allergic to milk, why did you give her so much? If she had been brought here a minute later, not even a saint could have saved her!"
Shen Yingying was beyond desolate and could only beg the doctor to do his best to save Gandan Xue.
Only after Gandan Xue was out of danger did she slump down against the wall, her body trembling slightly, her heart filled with both hatred and fear towards Shen Yanhe.
She had never imagined that the usually meek and easily manipulated Shen Yanhe could become so insane when angered!
She showed up at their door, unhesitatingly resorting to violence against an elder!
She had to tell Fu Yanhe about this, to show him clearly what kind of terrible person Shen Yanhe really was!
However, before she could take action, her phone started ringing urgently.
As soon as Shen Yingying picked up, Shen Guowei’s furious roar blasted from the other end, "Shen Yingying! What the hell have you and your mother stirred up now?"
Shen Guowei had originally gone on a business trip to negotiate a new project, and they were already discussing signing the contract when, at the last minute, the other party backed out! They no longer wanted to cooperate!
It wasn’t just the new project that fell through; back at the company, there was a flood of contract cancellations and refusals to cooperate, and their stocks continuously dropped, pushing him into a frantic and humiliating scramble to salvage any partnerships.
No matter how much concession he offered, the other party remained unmoved.
It took a hint from one of his well-connected partners, asking him if his family had antagonized someone they shouldn’t have, like the Fu Family, for instance.
Shen Guowei’s heart skipped a beat. He recalled that last night Gandan Xue had asked him if it would be more beneficial for the Shen Family if Shen Yingying married Fu Yanhe.
Feeling uneasy, he immediately made a call to inquire.
He berated her so harshly that Shen Yingying was left dazed for a moment. Her foggy mind instantly cleared up, remembering what Fu Yanhe had said earlier today about settling scores with the Shen Family, and she felt an icy chill wash over her, shaking uncontrollably.
It was Fu Yanhe.
Fu Yanhe had started targeting the Shen Family!
"Dad, save me!" Shen Yingying cried into the phone in fear.
If the Shen Family fell, her life was over!
-
Shen Yanhe was unaware that just after she had taught Gandan Xue a lesson, Fu Yanhe had taken revenge for her.
She had now arrived at Shen Huai’s hospital room, donned in a protective isolation suit, sitting in a chair behind the glass, her gaze falling on the still weakly breathing Shen Huai lying in the bed, her pupils unfocused.
It was unknown how much time had passed, so much that the noisy sounds outside had disappeared, and the corridor had become quiet again, when Shen Huai on the hospital bed finally moved.
Shen Yanhe’s eyes brightened slightly as she suddenly got up and leaned against the glass, gently calling out to him, voice after voice, "Huai, Huai..."
Shen Huai on the hospital bed slowly opened his heavy eyelids and turned his eyes with difficulty toward the direction of the voice.
When he saw Shen Yanhe leaning on the glass, his pale face squeezed out a weak smile, eyes curving, "Sister, I am alright, not feeling discomfort at all, don’t worry."
Shen Yanhe’s eyes welled up with tears, and she smiled back at him, "Huai is the bravest—it’ll take a moment, I will call the doctor, and you just wait here patiently for me."
After Shen Huai hoarsely responded, Shen Yanhe quickly went out to call the doctor.
The doctor on standby entered the hospital room in a specially made isolation suit and quickly examined Shen Huai.
Only after confirming that he had regained consciousness and that his kidney and bodily functions had not weakened did he breathe a sigh of relief, adjusted his medication, and then left the room one by one.
"Shen Huai is temporarily out of danger," the doctor said while rubbing his hands with hand sanitizer before speaking to Shen Yanhe, "But each episode he has takes a huge toll on his vitality, and the recovery this time probably won’t leave him as vigorous as before."
"To prolong Shen Huai’s life, a bone marrow transplant needs to be performed as soon as possible."
"Otherwise, if he has another episode, then..." the doctor paused, looking at Shen Yanhe with a hint of pity on his face, "Miss Shen must be prepared psychologically."
Shen Yanhe felt as if a wooden spike was lodged in her throat. She took a deep breath and bowed to the doctor, "I understand, thank you, doctor. I will find a suitable bone marrow donor as soon as I can."
The doctor waved his hand, gave her a few more instructions, then left straight away to check on another patient.
When Shen Yanhe returned to the hospital room, Shen Huai was still connected to several tubes.
The young boy lay quietly on the hospital bed, his delicate face thin and pale, like a bird whose wings were forcibly broken, confined to a cage to recuperate.
Oh no.
It’s even sadder than a bird.
At least a bird once had the time to fly freely, whereas Shen Huai had not.
She watched him for a long time before finally asking, "Huai, why did you accept the flowers Gendan Xue gave you?"
Shen Huai was very obedient.
He had diligently followed all the doctor’s orders.
This time, he accepted Gendan Xue’s flowers—she must have said something to him.
Shen Huai’s eyelashes fluttered slightly, his lips moved, and after half a minute, he quietly said, "She said, you stole Sister Yingying’s fiancé, and if I didn’t accept them, she would go and cause a scene with you, making your life uneasy."
He didn’t want his sister to be bothered by his aunt.
He could bear being uncomfortable—it was nothing; he didn’t want his sister to be hurt or maligned by others.
Upon hearing this, Shen Yanhe bit her cheek and burst out laughing amidst her aggravation.
She had never seen Gendan Xue be so shameless and manipulative.
The person forcing her into a marriage substitution was her.
Now, twisting facts in front of a child, falsely accusing her of stealing Shen Yingying’s fiancé, was also her!
Those slaps were too mild.
It was her fault too; she hadn’t clarified things with Shen Huai in advance, which allowed Gendan Xue to exploit the situation.
"I did not steal Shen Yingying’s fiancé." Shen Yanhe took a deep breath, looked at Shen Huai, and recounted the entire ordeal of being coerced into the marriage substitution by Gendan Xue, though she downplayed the severity.
After speaking, she paused, pursed her lips, and added, "Your brother-in-law has known from the start, and he has been quite good to me, so you don’t need to worry."
