Chapter 455: Chapter 455: Sudden Accident
His expression froze for a few seconds, "What did you say?"
Shen Yanhe sneered, slightly lifting her chin: "Go ahead and kill him."
She said coldly, "Don’t forget that you took him away when I was a child. I haven’t been in contact with him for many years. The father-daughter bond between us has long since waned to almost nothing."
Shen Yanhe paused, then added indifferently, "Whether he is in this world or not, it’s all the same to me."
"Maybe he would prefer to go and meet my mother and my brother sooner? Killing him would be doing him a favor."
She tilted her chin up. "So what are you waiting for? Get on with it."
Fu Weizhi had never expected Shen Yanhe to react this way when her own father was threatened.
But he did not readily believe her, squinting deeply at Shen Yanhe, his finger tightening slowly on the trigger: "You said it yourself, so I—"
He hadn’t finished speaking when the sound of something cutting through the air reached them.
Fu Weizhi’s gun-wielding hand suddenly pained, and he let go of the gun instinctively.
He had just looked up to see who had ambushed him when Fu Yanhe, expressionless, leaped down from a tree nearby and landed a fierce punch on his face.
Fu Weizhi staggered, then fell to the ground.
Shen Yanhe’s eyes hardened, and she commanded in a deep voice, "Attack!"
The ambushers hidden around them moved instantly, firing a volley of bullets before Brian and his group could react.
Brian reacted swiftly, grabbing a companion in a white coat to shield himself from the bullets aimed at him.
He rushed forward to engage Fu Yanhe in combat, rescuing Fu Weizhi from his grasp.
Fu Weizhi was already weak, and after taking a punch from Fu Yanhe, his vision blurred and his head spun, leaving him lying on the ground unable to regain his senses for a long while.
"Quick, get the BOSS back to the cave!" Brian roared at his men while fending off Fu Yanhe’s ferocious attacks.
The men hurried forward, trying to help Fu Weizhi up and take him to the cave for cover.
They were on the outside of the cave, with no cover or place to hide, making them easy targets against the gunfire. Only by retreating into the cave would they stand a chance to fight back.
But before the men could grab Fu Weizhi, their arms were pierced by bullets shooting at them.
Shen Yanhe, composed, set up her sniper rifle and aimed at the men trying to pull Fu Weizhi away, pulling the trigger cleanly and decisively.
A portion of the men, frightened for their lives, had already started retreating towards the cave.
However, before they could get inside, a loud blast suddenly came from within the cave.
The cave shook violently, the ground trembling, and countless small rocks began falling from the cliff’s face above.
The loud crashes continued one after another, and the cave entrance completely collapsed, sealing their only escape route.
In less than half an hour, the chaotic battle was over.
The woods were filled with the thick scent of blood.
The only survivors were Fu Weizhi and Shen Zhong, who was still unconscious.
Fu Yanhe and Mingying were wounded by stray bullets here and there.
Fu Yanhe stood in front of Fu Weizhi, his eyes downcast and deep, looking at him in silence, without saying a word.
Mingying ran back to Shen Yanhe, wiping the blood on her hands with a look of disgust, and asked with a pout, "Paper."
Shen Yanhe pulled out a napkin from her pocket and handed it to her. Her gaze, however, fell on Fu Yanhe as she tentatively called out to him, "Yanhe?"
Fu Yanhe turned his head to look at Shen Yanhe. His originally murky black eyes had regained some brightness as his thin lips moved slightly: "Yanyan."
This call from him finally relaxed the tense Shen Yanhe.
She asked, "Have you recovered?"
However, after calling her that one time, Fu Yanhe turned his head again and looked coldly at the wretched Fu Weizhi on the ground, who was just about to pick himself up.
His reaction left Shen Yanhe somewhat disappointed.
But she quickly mustered her spirit again.
Fu Yanhe called for her, which was already a very good start, and she believed that after treatment, he would return to his former self.
She ordered the elites of Unit 094 to help Shen Zhong up, then turned to Fu Yanhe and said, "Dealing with Fu Weizhi is up to you, it’s time to settle the grievances between you two."
The elites of the Net hesitated and asked, "Chief, do you need us to stay and help?"
Fu Yanhe’s expression was indifferent, with hardly any emotional fluctuation, "No need, everyone leave."
Fu Weizhi noticed the elites of the Net, and when he heard them call Fu Yanhe "Chief," his pupils shrank slightly.
He looked at Fu Yanhe with some disbelief, "You, you are the Chief of the Net?"
Fu Yanhe looked at him expressionlessly, "Yes."
Fu Weizhi was greatly shocked, a sweet, fishy taste surged in his throat, and blood spilled from the corner of his mouth, "Hahaha... Hahahaha!!"
He seemed to realize something, sat collapsed on the ground panting rapidly, and laughed maniacally, "No wonder, no wonder you found this place so quickly, no wonder you were able to bring down the Fu Corporation."
"It turns out the deepest hidden person in the Fu Family... is you... it’s you..."
Whether it was because Fu Weizhi was too weak or the shock was too great, he spat out another mouthful of blood and directly passed out.
Shen Yanhe had thought Fu Yanhe would kill him, but to her surprise, he didn’t even frown. He simply had the elites of the Net take the unconscious Fu Weizhi away.
Her eyebrows lifted slightly. She didn’t voice any suggestions, but arranged for people to clean up and burn the bodies on the site, planning to leave the place quickly.
After all, the smell of blood was strong here and could easily attract large carnivorous animals.
The attention of the three was all on Fu Weizhi, and no one noticed that Brian, who had been shot and lay on the ground, slowly opened his eyes.
He struggled to open his eyes, which were crusted with dried blood.
Upon seeing Fu Weizhi lying in front of Fu Yanhe, his pupils dilated suddenly, and with a hoarse voice he shouted, "BOSS!"
Out of anger, he picked up the shotgun that had fallen beside him and quickly took aim at Fu Yanhe’s back and fired a shot.
Shen Yanhe’s eyes widened slightly, without thinking, she rushed forward to push Fu Yanhe out of the way, "Look out!"
A "pu" sound echoed as the bullet tore through flesh and blood.
Shen Yanhe felt a numbness in her chest, and looking down, saw blood slowly flowing from her chest. Her legs gave out, and she slowly slumped to the ground.
Fu Yanhe, who had just staggered to his feet, went blank as he saw what happened.
"Yanyan!" Fu Yanhe’s eyes were bloodshot as he scrambled forward to hold her in his arms, pressing his hand to the wound on her chest, his eyes red, "Hang in there, I’ll take you to Liu Fang right now!"
Brian was about to fire a second shot when Mingying picked up the sniper shotgun that Shen Yanhe had dropped and blew his head off.
The scene immediately turned into chaos.
No one had expected such a turn of events when things were nearing an end.
"Don’t panic, I’m wearing a bulletproof vest, it’s not a fatal wound." Shen Yanhe clenched Fu Yanhe’s hand, her face pale as she said, "Grab the hemostatic from my medical kit."
"Stop the bleeding first, then we’ll go back to camp for the bullet."
Fu Yanhe tried to calm down, his hands shaking as he searched for the hemostatic in the small medical kit.
In a frenzy, he scattered the powder over Shen Yanhe’s chest and, following her direction, took out a life-saving pill and swallowed it before finally picking her up.
"You’ll be alright, you’re going to be alright," Fu Yanhe said, his eyes bloodshot and moist, "I won’t let anything happen to you."
Shen Yanhe wanted to comfort him, but the pain in her chest prevented her from speaking. She could only close her mouth and grip his arm tightly, offering him a bit of solace.
She smiled bitterly in her heart.
She had always thought that when a female protagonist on TV sees the male protagonist about to get hurt and impulsively rushes over to shield him, it was because of the script.
But now that it had happened, she understood.
It was an instinct.
An instinct to protect him, to keep him from getting hurt.
In this lifetime, it seemed she had really fallen completely for Fu Yanhe.
