Chapter 428: Missing
Chapter 428: Chapter 428: Missing
Prince Wesley was astonished, "Work for my father?"
He could not fathom, "What does my father want with her?"
"Moreover," Prince Wesley furrowed his brow, eyeing the assistant with suspicion, "I have never seen you at my father’s side."
The man before him had a very typical Eastern appearance, and if he worked for his father, Prince Wesley was sure he would have remembered him.
The assistant gave a faint smile, his voice steady, "If Prince Wesley does not believe me, he may inquire with the King."
Prince Wesley’s expression shifted, unwilling to just let a beauty slip through his fingers, but he also dared not delay his father’s affairs.
"Fine." Prince Wesley took a deep breath, raised his hands, and made a gesture of concession, "I’ll stay out of this matter, and pretend I never saw her today."
The assistant leisurely withdrew his hand from Prince Wesley’s shoulder, bowed slightly toward him, "Thank you, Prince Wesley."
After bowing, the assistant hurried toward the direction where Shen Yanhe had fled.
Prince Wesley cursed under his breath, extremely displeased as he turned to look for a new beauty.

At this moment, at the end of the corridor.
Shen Yanhe had already engaged in a fight with the pursuing brute.
She clenched her fist and delivered a heavy punch to the brute’s abdomen as he charged at her.
This punch, without holding back and with considerable force, would have shattered the innards of an ordinary man, leaving him wailing on the floor.
Yet, the brute in front of her acted as if he felt no pain at all, his brow didn’t even furrow, he just staggered slightly backward.
In contrast, Shen Yanhe felt her fist smash into his abdomen like it was striking iron, the pain making her furrow her brow, startled.
This man, so hard.
Once the brute steadied himself, he immediately struck at Shen Yanhe.
Shen Yanhe reacted swiftly, stepping back to dodge the brute’s punch.
The other brutes caught up at this moment, several of them rushed forward, surrounding Shen Yanhe in the middle.
Shen Yanhe agilely dodged their attacks, swiftly weaving through the group of brutes, not holding back with any punch she landed on them.
Yet, they reacted like robots, not crying out in pain even when hit, continuing to attack Shen Yanhe expressionlessly.
Shen Yanhe’s brows were tightly knit, feeling increasingly that something was off.
In the end, she simply took off her high heels and held them in her hands as weapons, leaving bloody holes with every hit.
After exerting some effort, Shen Yanhe finally dealt with several brutes.
She too had sustained several injuries, having taken a punch to the chest, she could feel a faint pain with every breath, probably a cracked rib.
Her hands were also a bloody mess, with blood splattered on the wall, the scene resembling that of a gruesome murder.
While trying to steady her rapid breathing, Shen Yanhe frowned as she looked over the brutes lying on the floor, their eyes wide open.
These people, not right.
No, they didn’t quite seem human.
They were like painless, silent, speechless robots.
Once she had caught her breath, Shen Yanhe tossed away the ruined high heel in her hand and stepped forward to examine the strange features of the brutes.
But at that very moment she moved.
Clapping sounds of "Pa Pa Pa" resonated.
Accompanied by a clear, moist male voice, "Truly worthy of being the doctor’s daughter."
Shen Yanhe’s brows tensed, her gaze lifting cautiously.
The assistant slowly emerged from around the corner of the corridor, smiling at Shen Yanhe, his eyes filled with a hint of admiration, "You have greatly exceeded my expectations."
"You’ve got the wrong person," Shen Yanhe said calmly, her voice cold and devoid of warmth. "I don’t know any doctor, and I am not the doctor’s daughter."
Sighing, the assistant shook his head. "There’s no point in playing dumb at this time, Miss Shen."
"Ever since the doctor joined the BOSS, every action of the Shen Family has been under the BOSS’s surveillance."
The assistant cracked a slight smile and leisurely took off his suit jacket, tossing it aside. "I admit you are strong to have followed us here, but this is where it ends."
"Don’t worry, the BOSS will reunite you with the doctor."
Shen Yanhe’s expression shifted, and she clicked her tongue, straightening her hair which had come loose during the fight. She no longer feigned ignorance.
She asked bluntly, "So, over these years, your BOSS has been monitoring the Shen Family?"
"Yes," the smile remained on the assistant’s face, but the look in his eyes deepened as they rested on her. "Including the fact that Miss Shen gets dismissed from every job as soon as she finds one, that was the BOSS’s doing as well."
Shen Yanhe’s gaze turned cold instantly, her expression stoic. "Why?"
"Simple."
"To make you mediocre," the assistant explained.
"Only by making you one of many could you be prevented from causing trouble for the BOSS in the future."
The assistant recalled the years spent monitoring Shen Yanhe, her learning abilities alarmingly strong.
For all skills, she needed only two or three attempts before she could discern the patterns and master them.
BOSS, in order to nip future troubles in the bud, had sent him to keep an eye on Shen Yanhe, constantly suppressing her so that life would grind away her spirit.
They even wanted her to marry and have children, just to tire her out with life, so she would become a common woman incapable of posing any threat to the BOSS.
To the assistant’s surprise, despite such intense oppression, Shen Yanhe still managed to excel.
Not only could she compose music, but she had also learned to fight.
And she had even managed to follow them here...
Shen Yanhe laughed, her smile chilly with a hint of frost. She flexed her wrists and lamented, "You people are truly despicable."
The BOSS he spoke of was nothing if not malicious.
If she hadn’t been lucky enough to meet her master and come to know her fellow disciples,
she might indeed have lost her confidence under the relentless beatings of life and ended up just another face in the crowd.
The assistant smiled. "Thanks for the compliment."
As the words fell, the assistant suddenly made a move against Shen Yanhe.
His speed was much faster than that of the thugs from earlier, his attacks sharp and aimed directly at Shen Yanhe’s vital points.
Shen Yanhe’s eyes were stern as she reacted even more quickly, dodging his strikes one by one.
Seizing her chance, she grabbed his wrist and, with a sudden tensing of her waist, flipped him over her shoulder, sending the assistant flying.
The assistant’s body slammed against the wall, causing him to grunt in pain. He remained hunched over, unable to get up.
Shen Yanhe’s gaze was fierce as she stepped forward, ready to strike.
Strike when the enemy is sick, take his life!
But at that moment, an unexpected turn occurred.
The assistant, who had been half-lying on the ground, suddenly sprang up, charging at Shen Yanhe with a small syringe that appeared in his hand out of nowhere.
Shen Yanhe was startled and it was already too late to retreat.
The needle was plunged into her neck, a cool sensation spreading from the syringe into her body.
Shen Yanhe’s legs weakened, her strength drained away in an instant and darkness began to swim before her eyes.
The drug acted too quickly; she managed only a last glance at the assistant before collapsing into unconsciousness on the ground.
"Tsk," the assistant, rubbing his arm sore from the fall, looked down at the unconscious Shen Yanhe and exclaimed, "Lucky I had the new drug the doctor developed on me, or I really could have been capsized in the gutter."
