A Substitute Bride With Multiple Identities
Chapter 392: You’re Next

Chapter 392: Chapter 392: You’re Next

Shen Yanhe gave Melanie a languid glance and took the card from her hand. Her eyelashes slightly drooped as she cautiously examined it.

Black paper with gold lettering, it was indeed an invitation to the auction.

As Melanie observed her scrutinizing the invitation, it solidified her belief that Fu’s wife was of low birth.

If she were of high birth, she would have tossed the invitation aside long ago.

Why would she need to flip through the invitation with such "curiosity" repeatedly?

Mockery and disdain flashed in Melanie’s eyes as she crossed her arms and spoke slowly, "This invitation is made from paper produced by our Harman Royal Family and the gold lettering is written with melted gold, how about that? You’ve never seen such a thing in Daxia, have you?"

Shen Yanhe looked up at her and nodded, "Yes, I haven’t seen it."

Usually, when attending banquets, officials would send someone to offer transport, so she rarely needed an invitation.

Receiving an official invitation like this was actually her first time, oh no, the second time.

The first time was when she attended a medical conference domestically, but she didn’t even use that invitation as the organizers sent someone to pick her up at the airport.

Melanie’s expression grew more contemptuous, the disdain in her eyes almost spilling out.

She had never even seen an invitation card.

It’s a wonder how Fu could have fallen for her.

Shen Yanhe saw the contempt and disdain on her face, but she didn’t care, and said lightly, "I will give the invitation to Yanhe, as for whether or not to attend, the decision is his."

"Fu will definitely go," Melanie said confidently, though her gaze involuntarily drifted toward the door, hoping to see the figure she longed for.

Shen Yanhe smiled slightly, "The invitation has already been delivered. It’s quite late now, Miss Farrell should leave."

Melanie hadn’t seen Fu Yanhe yet and was reluctant to leave. She tightened her grip on her purse and huffed, "I want to see you hand over that invitation to Fu with my own eyes, otherwise, knowing the jealous hearts of you Eastern women, you might just throw it in the trash once I leave."

She paused, then added, "Besides, it would be too rude to leave without even meeting the host after I came to deliver the invitation."

A smile spread across Melanie’s face as she looked at Shen Yanhe, her tone somewhat provocative, "Madame wouldn’t mind me staying for a cup of coffee, would you? After Fu gets the invitation, I will leave."

Shen Yanhe understood Melanie’s purpose.

All she had said was just a ploy to stay and see Fu Yanhe.

Since someone was asking to humiliate herself, she was naturally willing to oblige.

Shen Yanhe smiled faintly, "Of course, I don’t mind."

She took out her phone leisurely, "However, it’s already late, and it’s inconvenient to stay overnight in the manor. Let me call Yanhe to come over."

Melanie lifted her chin slightly and nodded, "Thank you."

Upon connecting the call, Shen Yanhe briefly explained the situation with Melanie to Fu Yanhe.

Fu Yanhe’s voice was gentle but carried a hint of coolness, "Yanyan, hand her the phone."

Shen Yanhe’s eyebrows lifted slightly and she said okay, then handed the phone to Melanie, "Yanhe is busy, he can’t come back. He wants you to take the call."

Delight appeared on Melanie’s face as she eagerly snatched the phone from Shen Yanhe’s hand, bringing it close to her ear, her voice becoming incredibly sweet, "Fu, I’ve missed you so much today."

Fu Yanhe remained expressionless, his voice calm but cool, "Miss Farrell, I’m already aware of the invitation. You may now leave the manor."

"As I said yesterday, my manor does not welcome your presence."

This cold and merciless statement stopped Melanie’s smile in its tracks, her expression becoming somewhat stiff.

Grasping her phone a bit tighter, her voice sounded both reprimanding and resentful, "Fu, at least we are somewhat acquainted, aren’t you being a bit too ruthless towards me?"

Melanie felt hurt by his indifferent attitude, her hand over her heart, eyebrows and eyes lowered, she said sadly, "I just like you and want to pursue you, I haven’t done anything terribly wrong."

"I’m sorry, but I already have someone I want to spend my life with." Fu Yanhe’s expression was indifferent, his tone neither joyful nor angry, placidly adding, "Miss Farrell might consider liking someone else."

A trace of frustration flashed in Melanie’s eyes, yet she feigned helplessness and sighed, "Alright, I will consider your suggestion, Fu."

"But you must come to this auction, my father said he has prepared a VIP seat for you and wants to introduce you to a new friend."

Fu Yanhe responded indifferently, "I’ll consider it, please hand the phone back to my wife."

A fleeting shadow passed quickly in the depths of Melanie’s eyes, reluctantly she agreed, and as she returned the phone to Shen Yanhe, she quickly glanced at the screen, trying to remember Fu Yanhe’s number.

But what she saw was only Shen Yanhe’s remark about Fu Yanhe.

Melanie pouted in dissatisfaction, very unwillingly handing the phone over to Shen Yanhe, "Here, it’s yours."

Shen Yanhe’s eyebrows twitched slightly, her expression remained cool as she took the phone, exchanged a few brief words with Fu Yanhe, then hung up, and then turned to Melanie, "Miss Farrell, would you like to stay for coffee?"

"No need. We’re leaving," Melanie huffed, twisting her slender waist, striding with her bodyguards towards the estate’s exit.

Shen Yanhe didn’t bother with her, instructing the servant to securely lock the main gate of the estate before going upstairs to wash up and rest.

Just as she had finished bathing and came out, the phone Shen Yanhe had left on the table rang.

She picked up the phone, and from the other end came Feng Jiao’s breathless voice, "Yanyan, help! Xiang Ling’an found out Fu Yanhe is the head of Luo Net! He’s coming after me! He’s going to kill me!"

Shen Yanhe laughed softly, slowly seating herself and crossing her legs, suddenly asking, "Jiaojiao, you knew from the start that Luo Net took on the task in Sutanda City, didn’t you?"

Feng Jiao guiltily stuttered, "Um..."

Her guilt lasted only a second before she quickly shifted the blame to Xiang Ling’an, "Yanyan, it’s not that I didn’t want to tip you off, it’s Xiang Ling’an! It’s all because of him, that bastard threatened me, he wouldn’t let me tell you!"

Feng Jiao clung to a tree trunk and exclaimed, "I am innocent!"

Shen Yanhe quickly moved her phone slightly aside, waiting for her to finish her outcry before saying, "I don’t believe it! If you were truly innocent, why didn’t you tell me when I arrived in Sutanda City?"

Feng Jiao: "..."

She surely couldn’t say that she also had a mind to watch the drama unfold, could she?

Just as Feng Jiao was about to speak, a sinister voice suddenly came from behind her, "So you were hiding here, you made me search for you."

Feng Jiao: "!!!"

Feng Jiao turned her head to see Xiang Ling’an squatting behind her, scaring her so much that she fell to the ground.

Xiang Ling’an scoffed, snatching the phone from her hand, grinding his teeth, and speaking to Shen Yanhe on the other end, "Little junior sister, don’t think that by blocking me, I won’t be able to find you."

"You wait for me, after I deal with Jiaojiao, you’re next."

With that, Xiang Ling’an abruptly hung up the phone, his face stern as he looked at Feng Jiao.

Feng Jiao swallowed nervously.

Her heart wailed.

My life is over!
