Chapter 345: Missing
Chapter 345: Chapter 345: Missing
Yu Jiao had never expected that even her quiet muttering could be overheard by Song Shiwei.
She pursed her lips, shifted a bit farther away from Song Shiwei, and hung her head, no longer daring to speak.
Song Shiwei, with eyes red, gave her a fierce glare, but said nothing more, anxiously watching the sea’s surface.
Shen Yanhe first rescued Luo Yao, who was flailing in the water, onto the lifeboat; Luo Yao coughed desperately for life.
Shen Yanhe had no time to attend to her, immediately turning to continue helping rescue others.
Thanks to the efforts of her, Qi Zeyi, and Su Qi, a good number of people were saved onto the lifeboat.
After pushing the last crew member onto the lifeboat, Shen Yanhe also climbed aboard to catch her breath and asked, "Check to see if everyone’s been rescued?"
The crew member, pale-faced, looked around and said, "The director is still missing; a wave swept him far away just now."
"Where? I’ll go take a look."
The crew member pointed out a direction to Shen Yanhe, who then turned and dove back into the sea in search of the director.
The wind over the sea was picking up, and one of the sailors on the lifeboat looked urgently at the sky, exclaiming, "A storm is coming; we have to get back to shore now!"
The lifeboat was just a small craft; once the storm hit, it would never hold up.
By then, everyone on board would be doomed!
Yu Jiao’s face turned deathly pale, and she hurriedly urged the sailor, "Hurry! Start the boat! Get back to shore quickly!"
She had seen too many news stories of sea disasters online.
She knew that if they encountered a storm after a shipwreck, it was a life and death situation.
She didn’t want to die!
"No way! We can’t leave!" Song Shiwei resisted desperately, "Yanhe hasn’t come back; we can’t abandon her!"
"She’s choosing her own death! I don’t want to die! I want to live! If she wants to die, she shouldn’t drag me down with her!" Yu Jiao’s voice was shrill, on the brink of collapse as she loudly said to the sailor, "Drive the boat!"
"We can’t leave!" Song Shiwei’s desperation was clear, tears nearly bursting forth as she clung to the sailor’s sleeve and pleaded, "Just wait two more minutes, please, just two more minutes, we can’t leave her behind."
Yu Jiao’s complexion shifted again, until suddenly, she stretched out her hand and forcefully pulled Song Shiwei’s hand away from the sailor, "Let go! If you want to die, go with her!"
Song Shiwei struggled intensely, trying to withdraw her hand.
During their argument, Yu Jiao suddenly pushed Song Shiwei into the sea.
Song Shiwei could not swim, and she managed only a brief cry before her body began to sink.
The sailor, trying hard to stabilize the lifeboat, looked horrified, rebuked loudly, and was about to dive in after Song Shiwei, "What are you doing!"
But he was grabbed tightly by Yu Jiao, who held onto his clothes, "Don’t save her! Do you want to die here too!"
"The storm is coming! If we don’t leave now, we’re all going to die!"
Yu Jiao’s eyes hardened, and she clenched her teeth, pale-faced, "If she dies, it’s her own fault for slipping and falling into the water! It has nothing to do with us!"
Just then, the dark sky finally began to pour rain, which seemed to grow heavier, and the wind grew stronger as well.
Fearing death himself, the sailor clenched his teeth, did not go to save Song Shiwei, and quickly steered the lifeboat towards the shore.
Song Shiwei, bobbing in and out of the water, struggled to stay afloat, and seeing the lifeboat leave, her eyes filled with despair, "Little He Miao..."
As her consciousness began to fade, she heard a splashing sound near her ear, and a pair of strong arms reached through her armpits, pushing her up to the surface.
Soon after, a solid object was thrust into her hands.
Shen Yanhe’s hoarse voice sounded in her ear, "Hold on tight."
Song Shiwei instinctively clutched the plank, struggling to open her eyes wide.
Her vision transitioned from blurry to clear, and she saw Shen Yanhe holding onto the same plank as her, with the director close by, desperately clinging to some floating debris.
All the lifeboats nearby had already left.
On the vast sea, there were only Shen Yanhe, Song Shiwei, and the director.
The rain grew heavier, the sea wind howled in their ears, and the fierce waves battered against them.
All three had no chance to talk, as the surging waves pushed them adrift on the sea.
Perhaps Shen Yanhe and the others were lucky, for the waves carried them towards the shores of a deserted island.
Shen Yanhe exhaustedly dragged the director and Song Shiwei up, completely drained, and collapsed onto the wet sand, gasping for breath as the raindrops hammered down like peas from the sky.
The director and Song Shiwei spit out a mouthful of water and staggered over to her, asking loudly, "How are you?"
Shen Yanhe waved her hand and struggled to stand up, looking around before leading Song Shiwei and the director to sit under a rock.
This rock was at the shoreline, extending outwards with a flat shape. Below, there was a space that didn’t block the wind but provided shelter from the rain.
As the three of them panted heavily, Shen Yanhe took a moment to recover before turning to Song Shiwei and asked, "Didn’t I put you on the lifeboat? Why did you come down?"
Lin Hao nodded, "Yeah, I saw you were on the lifeboat."
Song Shiwei pursed her lips and briefly went through what happened on the lifeboat.
A look of disgust appeared on Lin Hao’s face, "This Yu Jiao, she really is vicious!"
Dare to harm others?
Shen Yanhe’s eyes darkened slightly, but she said nothing.
The wind blew, and Song Shiwei, shivering with cold, tried to move closer to Shen Yanhe and tremulously asked, "Yanhe, what do we do now?"
"Wait for the rescue team," Shen Yanhe replied with pursed lips, looking up at the still-rainy sky.
-
Yu Jiao made it back to shore safely.
Before she could even catch her breath, Qi Zeyi and Su Qi approached her with threatening intensity, dark faces demanding, "Why are you the only one who came back? Where are Song Shiwei and Shen Yanhe?"
All the guests and staff had arrived.
Only Shen Yanhe, Song Shiwei, and the director Lin Hao were missing.
Yu Jiao shrank a little, feeling somewhat panicked, and with pursed lips, she said, "I don’t know."
She clutched her palm tightly, trying to remain calm, "I originally waited with Song Shiwei for a while to see if Shen Yanhe would come back, but after five minutes without seeing her, Song Shiwei said she was going to look for Shen Yanhe and jumped into the sea herself."
"And then the storm hit, and the crew had to sail me back first."
Su Qi’s expression changed abruptly, staring intensely at Yu Jiao, "Are you sure Song Shiwei jumped in by herself?"
Yu Jiao nodded, "I’m sure."
Su Qi’s face turned terrifying, and with a violent move, he grabbed Yu Jiao by the collar, "You’re lying! Song Shiwei can’t swim at all! There’s no way she’d jump into the sea on her own!"
With a short scream, Yu Jiao’s pallid face cried out shrilly, "I don’t know! She really did jump by herself! The boat operator saw it, too!"
Qi Zeyi fixed his gaze tightly on the boat operator, "Is what she’s saying true?"
The operator scratched the life rope in his hands and nodded, "Yes, she jumped on her own."
He was now tied to Yu Jiao’s fate.
If people found out he had not waited and had failed to rescue someone, he would certainly be dismissed.
He still had a family to support and couldn’t afford to lose his job.
Su Qi threw Yu Jiao to the ground with force and turned to run toward the rescue team, "Rescue team! There are still people at sea! Hurry and save them!"
Yu Jiao fell to the ground, her hand roughed up against the coarse surface, losing a big chunk of flesh. She inhaled sharply, her lowered eyes filled with gloom.
Meanwhile, the internet also exploded with activity.
Besides focusing on the "Survival on a Deserted Island" show’s shipwreck, the relationship between Qi Zeyi and Shen Yanhe also shot up the trending list rapidly.

In the town.
Fu Yanhe had just signed a contract with a client, the two shook hands, about to arrange a dinner meeting.
The meeting room door was abruptly opened from outside by Wu Fang.
He was holding a mobile phone, his face grim, "Boss Fu, the lady’s in trouble!"
