Chapter 333: But Not for Me
Chapter 333: But Not for Me
The moment that voice stopped speaking, there was a deep low hum that I think came from the ritual circle.
And then it fell silent again.
"Uhh..." One of the voices quivered, the unease beginning to settle in all of them as nothing happened when something clearly should have happened.
As the silence dragged on, I could hear the murmurs of those that where here becoming more and more dreadful.
And then, it happened.
*Twang*
The glowing red ropes from the ritual formation began to snap.
*Twang* *Twang*
More of them snapped apart and soon nearly all of them had broken apart.
*Twang!*
The last one broke with a loud resounding reverberation throughout whatever room we were in.
This ultimately led to my body being free to move, but because of this thick and heavy grey fog, I was still tired and by proxy, still unable to move.
I was completely awake though, but that was more so because I knew that bad things are going to happen at literally any moment now, and I was mentally stimulated beyond the tiredness that was being induced into me.
"Th-This... Wh-What is this? What’s happening?" One of the voices stammered, their voice quivering audibly even with their distorted voices.
"I-I don’t know! This has never happened before!" Another one panicked.
They all started to shout and scuffle all over the place from what I could hear.
And then, something even worse happened. For them at least.
*Crack*
A loud cracking sound similar to that of glass rang out, causing an even more dreadful silence to fall over the room.
The silence was unnerving, even for me, as I had no idea how the Goddess would handle this situation.
It was obviously her hand interfering here, but how things would play out, I had no clue. Sure she might have had a rather bubbly and somewhat childish attitude when she made that inheritance, but it’s been such a long time since then, only those up above in the heavens know what she’s like now.
*Crack* *Crack*
More cracking sounds echoed throughout the room, and the more they appeared, I could see that they were actually coming from the ritual circle itself, meaning it was shattering.
*BANG!!!*
Out of nowhere, the entire thing fractured into pieces and broke the floor along with it, and I could also feel my strength returning to me, even if only very slowly.
The people who had gathered here to essentially take away everything I had in life started panicking and shouting all over the place.
"Wh-What’s happening?"
"Why? What did we do to deserve this?"
"AAAAAAHHHHH!!!"
I could easily tell them what they’ve done wrong, but considering how they treated me and spoke of me, I think it’s best to just let them get what’s coming to them.
As for what that will end up being? I quite honestly don’t really care all too much, just so long as they’re given what they deserve.
"W-Wait! She’s getting up!" On of them screeched, noticing me gradually getting up off the now fragmented floor.
It was still rather difficult to do, as although whatever was originally supressing me has weakened, its effects still haven’t completely resided, so I still feel lethargic to some degree.
Chaos erupted as everyone started screaming and scurrying all over the place, either trying to fix this or something else. Not that there was much else that they could even do.
"W-Wait! W-W-We m-mustn’t lose our resolve! I-If we just pray for our Goddess to-"
"Shut... Up."
I cut them off before they could speak any further and disgrace Astra’s name. The way they were treating her was disgusting.
They were using her basically as a scapegoat for all the heinous acts they commit. Not to mention the fact that they supposedly stripping others of their powers in the name of giving them to her. I bet they just keep it all to themselves.
"You people... No... You heathens... Dare to disgrace her name..." It was still hard to breath, so I was struggling to speak properly.
But that didn’t hinder my growing urge to beat these people up for what they tried to do to me. But the fog still seemed to press me down both physically and metaphorically.
They all started to talk over one another, Trying to decide what to do next. Some suggested just killing me outright here and now. Others wanted to basically torture me to find out why this happened. And I think I heard one of them suggest turning me into their slave.
All of them were revolting suggestions, especially considering what they are supposedly trying to represent. The way they worship the Goddess and try to give offerings like this is downright evil.
And not the kind that would land you in Hell, but one that would make sure Hell rejects you. Actually, with my father’s influence they may actually face such a fate.
Never mind that though. Right now, I both needed and wanted to get my own revenge, but once again, this damned fog disallowed the use of any of my powers.
If only there was a way that I could somehow activate my powers other than the way I normally do.
’Wait a minute...’ My eyes widened at the sudden realisation of what I just thought of.
It was a bit of a long shot, but it could potentially work if it works the way I think it does.
And it was a good thing that I had managed to conceive of it as the bastards that seemed to surround me had managed to come to the consensus to just flat out murder me here and now.
"If we slay her now, we can just say we did it, they won’t find out."
"Agreed, let’s get this over with quickly then."
I heard the sounds of them slithering across the floor towards me, and they were close, so I only had moments before they executed me.
’Status!’
I hastily open my Soul Scroll, the semi-transparent, sparkling golden scroll appearing before me. And with great desperation, I managed to get to my Bloodline Skills, and activated both [Bloodline Suppression] and [Bloodline Aura] in tandem.
In an instant, everyone that was closing in on me as well as anyone else who was here fell to the floor with a cumbersome grunt.
And not only had I now successfully made everyone else immobile, it seems that whatever was making that fog had disappeared completely now, allowing me to see everything around me.
The first thing that I noticed was just how big the room actually was. It was around twenty-five metre’s big and circular in nature with a domed roof with seven pillars spread out evenly across the room.
Except for one spot, where there seemed to be a doorway connecting to the wall in place of where a pillar would go, with it connecting to the dome ceiling above with a sharp edge.
As for the decoration, it was rather bare bones, with hardly anything even here really. There were a couple of pedestals here and there with some kind of thick tomes on them but not much else.
Then there were the people who were currently being forced into the ground by the sheer power of my Aura I was emitting.
Now that they were stuck in place and unable to do anything to me, it was time to get some answers.
