Chapter 315: Reunions at Last

"Well... I don’t actually know..." I said reservedly, as I didn’t know much about these spaces or about the covenant either.

"Oh... Maybe... Maybe we should start by getting out of here." I could feel Asty’s grips on me tighten, likely unsettled by our lack of surroundings and wanting to see Ash again.

And I shared the feeling of wanting to get out of here also. More so because I wanted to get some proper sleep more than anything, but also to finally end this Chapter of my life.

"Right. But could we delay transferring the God over to you? I don’t think I’m in any condition to do anything for the next couple of days after what I’ve been through."

Asty giggled lightly and said, "That’s okay, you take all the time you need. I’ll probably just be with Ash the whole time to make up for the time we were apart, and as her apology to me also. So, I can wait"

"That’s good. Now... I’ll be honest, I have no idea on how to get out of here. Every time I did, it was kind of just like falling asleep."

"Oh, maybe we should try that then." Asty suggested, and it was a great suggestion for the most part.

Except, "Maybe, but sometimes I don’t remember it ever working like that before. I always just kind of left, as if some inconceivable time limit had been reached."

"Oh..." Her enthusiastic mood deflated somewhat upon hearing that she was wrong, but I didn’t want her to be sad after everything.

So in an effort to cheer her up, I suggested we try her suggestion. "It can’t hurt to try. I only said what I said because it’s what I know to be true. Which isn’t to say your method won’t work, just that I’ve never tried it before."

That managed to cheer her up as she stifled a sniffle and nodded, "Okay... thanks for always looking out for me."

She buried her face into my chest once again and began trying to go to sleep. I smiled and coddled her head, letting her rest her weary head wherever she wanted as I did the same.

And soon, I drifted away into unconsciousness.

When I next woke up I was back in my own body somehow, and as I opened my eyes, I saw Asty huddled up to me, with Ash also curling up around the both of us.

I noticed that Ash was asleep, the barrier I set up was still there, meaning that my body did indeed function just as I wanted it which was relieving. And the last thing I noticed was that Asty’s complexion had improved considerably and that her breathing had evened out.

Smiling widely and tiredly, I cancelled out all of the magic I was casting, causing the bed to fall to the floor with a considerable thud.

*Bang!*

I felt the bed frame creaking quite a bit the moment it landed on the floor, especially towards the left, which is the burned side. No matter, it was going to get replaced either way, what’s a little more damage gonna do?

I saw that the door was still off for some reason. Not sure why it hadn’t been replaced yet, or why they hadn’t even bothered taking the old one out yet as I could still see that on the floor also.

The moment I tried to sit up though, a wave of nausea crashed over me and I fell straight back down.

’Fuck... I think that took too much out of me...’ As I thought that, I noticed that Ash was waking up.

With a tired smile, I curled my lips triumphantly, signalling that I had done it. At least I think I have anyways. Hard to tell since Asty isn’t awake yet, but I have faith that she’ll wake up soon.

In the meantime, I just want to go back to my own bed and go to sleep for like a week.

I tried to convey this to Ash, but it came out poorly, and what I actually said was, "Sleeby... Wan... Beb..."

To which I passed out the moment I finished saying those words.

(Astryza POV)

I had a weird dream about me being in some sort of dark abyss when big sis Tora came to save me, saying and promising some wild things. Good thing it was just a dream.

’That was a weird dream. I hope she came back with Ash as she promised before she left. That would really make me happy.’

The dream ended and I started to wake up, feeling warm and fuzzy inside. Someone was hugging me into their chest. A rather familiar chest actually.

Opening my eyes I actually found myself inside of big sis Tora’s chest, her hands cradling my head and my back, our tails coiled together.

Lifting my head up I could see Ash lying next to us awake. I could see tears beginning to pour out of her eyes as she watched my rub my own eyes.

"Oh thank the Goddess you’re alive!" She lunged at me, separating me from Tora’s upper half and tackling me onto the back of my bed, which felt stale now that I was paying attention to it.

But I couldn’t be bothered to focus on that as I started to cry alongside Ash as we embraced each other. I also untangled my tail from Tora so that I could wrap it around Ash’s instead, afraid to let her go.

The both of us just laid there for a while until someone came in and spoke up, making us snap out of our crying trance.

"Oh thank the Gods the three of you are okay." It was David who let out a huge sigh of relief upon seeing the two of us mingling together.

Shortly after David came in, several others arrived, namely the caretakers and a couple of Mystics who would investigate what happened here with their mystic powers.

Then there was the Duchess. Ash was on edge with her here and kept a hold of me tightly even after we left my room, which was a complete mess by the way.

It was covered in dark patches and scorch marks everywhere, and there were parts of it missing also, like the side of my bed had been partially erased along with other parts of the room.

Big sis Tora was then carried out of the room under the watchful eye of some old human lady I think? And taken back to her room to rest.

After that the Duchess took me away in private and had me interrogated to explain what happened.

When I said I didn’t really know what had happened, she threw me out in a huff and then did the same thing to Ash.

Fortunately nothing bad happened to either of us and we were able to go back to the orphanage.

We got back and I was just assigned a new room entirely, as it was easier than having me move back in after it was repaired. As for all of my stuff, anything that had been destroyed had been replaced whilst anything else was then dumped unceremoniously into my new room.

I didn’t stay in there though, and instead decided to stay in Ash’s room for the foreseeable future for obvious reasons.

The moment we got back though, Ash started to explain everything.

From her origins and unnatural appearance, to why she left and what happened after, and how Tora had saved her and freed her from that abominable curse.

After everything was said, we got some dinner and went to bed in Ash’s room.

I couldn’t fall asleep though, not after everything that had happened today. It all just kind of washed over me from the moment that I woke up.

I wasn’t sure how to make heads or tails of any of it. As I was being interrogated by the Duchess, I came to realise that that dream that I had about Tora making big promises wasn’t merely a dream, but something that actually happened.

The thought of having a God within me was both exhilarating and terrifying at the same time.

Not to mention the fact that I got possessed by some evil entity, froze my room and nearly died.

As I laid there, Ash snuggling up next to me, her breathing slow and rhythmic, all of the things I learned just started to truly sink into me.

It was honestly unsettling to have all of that in my mind, and it likely wouldn’t be leaving my head in the coming days either.

’I don’t think I can sleep with all of this running around in my head. I also don’t really want to go back to school either, not in my current mental state. I hope they can forgive my tardiness just a little longer.’

For the rest of the night, I just kind stared at the ceiling, all the way until morning when Ash started stirring awake.
