A Serpent's Tale
Chapter 273: Am I Overpowered?

Chapter 273: Am I Overpowered?

"Do I just push it in there?" I asked, unsure of how exactly I was supposed to be doing this.

"Yeah, just shove it into your storage and it’ll automatically combine together." He answered nonchalantly with a shrug.

"Okay." With that, I began pushing the orb of compressed space into my [Spatial Storage].

"Wait!" Eric yelled, stopping me just as I started to push it inside. "Almost forgot. You cannot have any [Space] attributed items inside or else they will be absorbed into making the space bigger."

"Ah, good to know." Upon hearing that, I pulled the spatial orb away and took out both the rock egg thing and the scale, putting them in my satchel.

Once I took them out, I had a feeling like I was forgetting something. And then my eyes widened.

It dawned upon me that I had so much stuff in my storage that I completely forgot about.

Yes, I had several clothes, but all the non-enchanted ones were in my wardrobe back at the orphanage.

And somehow, I completely forgot about all the rest of the stuff I took from my inheritance. How I managed to do that? I have no idea. But am I glad I did, as it made me remember that I had one last item in here that was of the [Space] attribute.

I pulled the item out, and it was a perfectly clear, refined Mana Core. As smooth as the sand my body laid upon, and filled with an ever-changing swirling nebula.

Clouds of interchanging dark blues and purples, sparkling with starlight and streaking comets filled the perfectly round orb of magical power.

"What the hell is that?" Eric cried out in shock as he pointed at the Mana Crystal in my left hand.

"This? It’s a Mana Crystal of the [Space] attribute." I told him flatly. It should be clear what this is.

"Yeah I can see that." He responded, still in a state of shock.

"If you know what it is then why are you questioning it?"

"Why the fuck do you have such a thing? And of such quality? Do you know how rare it is to even get a marble sized one? And here you are with one the size of your fucking tits!" He shouted in hysteria.

"The Illuminati." Was all I said in response to his questions.

"OOOHH!!! FUCKING COURSE!!!" He started to shout out at the top of his lungs in intense fury, cursing the Illuminati for their... Pettiness?

’Whatever, time to upgrade my storage.’ I thought as I put the [Space] crystal down onto the ground next to the other two [Space] attributed items.

I resumed putting the orb of compressed space that I made into my [Spatial Storage].

It started out pretty easy, sliding in relatively easily, but the further in I pushed, the harder it got.

I’d barely gotten to a little less than a third of the sealed space, yet there was some sort of force that resisted my efforts.

It was still somewhat pushable, but the further it went in, the harder it was to shove in.

At times like this, I almost wish that I had legs, because if I did, I might be able to use my feet to stabilise my ground.

But because I have a tail, I can’t do that and I basically have to wiggle my tail into the sand to move forwards.

After a few minutes, I got it in half way and it was starting to feel a little easier now too because of that.

I think now that I’ve gotten past the middle, it’ll get easier, even if only a little.

It turned out I was wrong and it ended up taking another two whole hours to get it in.

By the time I finished, I was a sweating mess. Eric had finished screaming all of his complaints with the Illuminati into the air as well.

The moment my arms fell into my storage space freely was the moment I knew that I was done.

I instantly flopped to the floor and closed the entrance to my storage. And the moment I did so, I could feel the changes taking place.

"Good job kid. Really, I’m surprised you actually managed to do that." Eric praised as he extended his hand to pull me up.

I accepted and was hoisted up, but I was still tired, so I just ended up falling back down.

"I think I’m gonna just lie here for a bit..." I said whilst panting lightly. "That was one hell of a workout."

"Hehe. Sure was." Eric commented as he sat down next to me and fell backwards onto the ground also.

"Ahh, I’m so tired after that."

"I’m sure you are. Take a moment to rest whilst your storage space upgrades itself, and when it’s done, then I’ll take you back home. Sound good?" Eric suggested.

"I like that idea..." I replied as I laid there quietly, slowly catching my breath.

And a few minutes later, I got a notification.

[Ding!]

[You have Evolved the [Spatial Storage: LvL. 1] into [Multi-Dimensional Storage: LvL. 1].]

[You have Levelled up the [Multi-Dimensional Storage: LvL. 1] by 9.]

"It’s done." I announced to Eric.

"Good. You ready to go back yet? It’s getting late after all."

"Nah, still a little tired. A few more minutes..."

"Okay, as you wish. While we wait, you mind telling me the properties of your new pocket storage?" Eric requested with some intrigue.

"Sure."

I accepted because I too was a bit curious as to how much space I now had as well.

’Status.’

[Ding!]

I skipped through most of it and got to my new skill and opened its description.

[Multi-Dimensional Storage: LvL. 10 (EVOLVED) (UP)]

[A Multi-Layered storage space containing 11 layers of storage. Each layer has a space of 75,000 cubic metres. This storage is capable of holding any non-living being so long as it fits inside the space. Any item placed within this space is preserved as is until it’s taken out again.]

Huh... I was expecting the increase in size, the multiple layers are also nice and not entirely unexpected. The no living entity part is understandable, but I don’t remember that last part.

Then again, I never read the description of this skill before hand so it could’ve been capable of all that beforehand anyways.

"What’s it say?"

"Huh? Oh right." I proceeded to quote the description word for word to my teacher to see what he would say.

"Really? All that? I mean the first half about the space it now has isn’t all that shocking to me, makes sense even. And the no living being’s thing is normal. But the preservation? Never seen that before."

"Have you not? You’ve never seen any type of [Spatial Storage] that preserves stuff?" I questioned in disbelief.

"Well, I have, it’s just that they were never purely made from the element of [Space]. Hell, even my own can’t preserve items very well. Probably the only thing in regards to my power that I haven’t mastered."

"That means that you have managed to somewhat replicate this, no?"

"Kind of, but it’s more or less combining it with other magics."

"I see... Well, I think I’m ready to go back now."

"Very well."

We both got up and Eric teleported us back to the city. I thanked him for teaching me and

And before I left, he said this to me, "You’re really overpowered you know? You may not know it, but you are. Keep that in mind."

"Oookay?"

Where did that come from? I mean, I’m not that overpowered.

Right?

...

Right?

I didn’t get any sleep that night as that statement kept me awake the whole time.

I just kept on thinking about it, and the more I though about it, the more I realised he was right.

From having the Bloodlines of two deities, to having such powerful affinities with several elements.

Having a Soul Scroll, which is just extremely rare to have because of what it requires to unlock it.

Then there’s the sheer amount of Skills and abilities that I have.

I have nine Physical skill, fourteen Magic skills, nine Bloodline skills, Two sets of separate racial skill which total up to eighteen.

And then there’s my class skill, of which I only have a subclass. I haven’t even chosen a main one yet. How strong will I be when I do obtain a class? I’m already pretty strong now, I don’t need to be any stronger, do I?

...

’I can’t sleep like this.’

I got out of bed and left my room and then the orphanage, just to wander around the city at night for some refreshing air and the serenity that it provides.

It was a nice break from the existential crisis I was having in my bed.

The night sky was beautiful, with starts twinkling and illuminating the city. The moon also glowed with an ethereal light that filled one with a sense of ease and comfort whenever you looked at it.

Eventually, I ended up in the central plaza of the city and decided to just sit down on one of the benches and just admire the night sky and the surrounding tranquillity.

No noise, no thoughts, no distractions.

Just me and a lovely sight to gaze at to free my mind.
