Chapter 270: Dungeon Diving

Chapter 270: Dungeon Diving

After cleaning ourselves up, we headed to the Adventurer’s Guild so that I could go and have a look at the quest board.

When we got there, I told Lily that she wasn’t allowed to have any quicky’s with anyone despite the fact that people were having sex at the tables or out of the way.

This was happening last time I came, but I didn’t pay it much mind. Hell, it’s not just here, but everywhere in the city you can see sex happening. People just tend to ignore it since it doesn’t concern them.

Anyways, after I made her promise not and just wait quietly after she threw a hissy fit, I went over to the quest board for the Silver ranks since I thought that that would be a good place to start, and it should be easy to convince the receptionist to let me take my unregistered friend with me.

Looking at the board for a couple of minutes, I soon found a job that required us to go and hunt some monsters in a local dungeon.

And when I say local, I mean in the city. It’s a great source of resources and why the city is where it is in the first place. And also a great source of commerce.

History lessons aside, I found a job for hunting some monster boars for an established restaurant and picked it out.

I went and got into the que to register this job as taken by me. And after a lengthy wait, it was my turn to be served.

"Hello, what can I do for you today?" The receptionist asked nicely, and unlike last time, it was a more genuine smile.

"Hi. I’d like to take on this quest please. With a friend." I explained as I handed the quest paper to her.

She took a moment to read the quest details before looking back at me, "Okay, can you show me your guild card?"

Fuck.

I do have it on me, but it’s in my [Spatial Storage], and I don’t have my bag with me, nor am I wearing anything that it could be in the pocket of or something.

How do I navigate this mess?

"Uhh... I only registered recently, so I’m not used to carrying it around all the time yet. Plus, I only chose to come here spontaneously on a whim to do this quest." I said whilst rubbing the back of my head.

Admittedly I was basically lying to her, but I wasn’t exactly lying either.

"Wait... You said you only registered recently? What rank did you sign up as?" She suddenly inquired in suspicion.

"Uhh, Platinum?" I answered meekly, a little unsure whether or not Ba’arhim made sure to scrub the fact that I was initially registered as a Silver rank or not.

The receptionist stared at me for a little while before speaking, "One moment please, I just need to confirm something."

She then promptly got up and went into the back for a while before she came out with a booklet.

When she came out she opened said booklet and I could see many different little packets with images in them, and one of them was mine.

She compared the image of me in the book and myself for a few seconds before closing the booklet.

She then apologised for her actions, "Forgive me, I just had to make sure."

"It’s fine, you’re just doing your job. I’ll be better prepared next time." I reassured her that she wasn’t at fault and making a promise to myself to do as I said and be better prepared.

"You are allowed to take this quest, but you said something about taking a friend if I recall?"

"Yes, I did. She’s not registered with the Guild, but I was hoping I could take her along. That’s why I’m doing a Silver quest, it’d be easier to convince you to let her take me." I decided to be honest about this matter.

"Well I appreciate your honesty, and seeing as you are a Platinum rank adventurer, you have my permission to take her into the dungeon with you." She thanked me and wrote out a little note on some card and handed it to me.

This little card would basically let Lily enter the dungeon despite not being an adventurer.

I thanked the receptionist for the help and went to go get Lily, whom I found flirting with a lone futa Lamia wearing some simple leather gear.

I apologised to the futa and forcefully dragged a whining Lily out of the building. I think she might still be on an aphrodisiac high from my expelled lust from yesterday.

Regardless of all that, we got a quick snack on our way to the dungeon’s entrance.

When we got to the dungeon’s entrance, it was surrounded by a walled off perimeter, which was swarming with guards.

We went up to the entrance and I had gotten my spare slash emergency bag out in a secluded area earlier and put all the stuff I needed in it, including my card.

The guards at the gate into this place checked our reasoning for coming and upon seeing my card and the note from the receptionist and seeing the quest paper, they let us past.

Once past the gates we found ourselves inside the area, where tons of adventurer’s where hanging out. Some preparing to go into the dungeon, some resting after coming out with their hunts.

There were merchants that sold some wares but they were outside this area where the entrance was. And we bought a couple of maps of the dungeon whilst there, just to get this done a bit faster.

Since Lily and I had no need to prepare, we headed down into the dungeon immediately.

The entrance was basically just a square hole in the ground with a ramp going from corner to corner all the way down.

We started to head down into the dungeon for a while until the entrance was only a spec of light above us.

Using the maps that we bought, we easily navigated our way through the first floor, which was designed like a lush cave system with glowing fruits growing all over the vegetation.

Because we wanted to get this over and done with quickly, we sped past any monsters and fellow adventurer’s as quickly as we could to get to the second floor, where our goal was.

We soon found one of the many exits which led into the second floor, which was designed like a vast and unending mountain range, with peaks so high they pierced the clouds that covered the sky.

Yes, this floor had a sky. It’s normal.

Sky aside, we were here to hunt some monster boars. Specifically of the mountain variety.

"So, where do we look first?" Lily asked, eager to hunt.

"Well, first we have to find out where exactly we are, since this exit isn’t always the same all the time." I said as I looked around for any indicators of where we might be and corelating it with the map.

"Aha! Found it. So, we’re here, so we need to go about three mountains that way." I pointed to our right.

"Let’s get going then! I can’t wait to do this!" Lily shouted as she pumped her fist in the air.

I smiled and started to head where we needed to go. Thankfully there were bridges between each mountain, all at varying levels.

The only problem would be scaling up and down them since there weren’t many paths that led anywhere except between the entrances to this level and the next one.

Whilst having trouble climbing one of the mountains, Lily asked a question.

"Hey, I just realised, there was no boss to lead to this floor, why’s that?" She was having an easy time climbing the mountain because she was still in her goat form.

As for me, I could barely answer since I had to focus on climbing with my bare hands. "Well... That’s because in this dungeon... Ugh... They appear at the end of every second floor."

"Oh, okay. Guess that makes sense." She looked over at me and offered to give me a hand. "Hey, you want some help?"

"Yes please." I would be stupid to decline.

In fact, I think if she wasn’t here, I wouldn’t even be able to scale this mountainside by the end of the day, let alone complete this quest.

In the end, after a few hours of struggling, we managed to get over to the mountain with the monster mountain boars on them.

They were hiding in a cave system within a piercing mountain, which was just a big tall mountain that was large enough to have several mountains stacked inside of it and was taller than the clouds.

We found our way to one of the cave entrances and went in, ready to hunt some boars.
