Chapter 195: Back on Track Home?

After being let off by the guards at the plateau, I headed down the mountain and was questioned by everyone that was next to the mountain when it trembled apparently. Must have been the dungeon disappearing that caused that.

I explained to them that the dungeon had disappeared, which must have caused the tremors just now and that everything was safe. When they inquired why only I was sent down here I just said that the guard named Eric sent me to tell them this.

They seemed to be satisfied with my answer and let me pass so that I could trek back down to the bas of the mountain, where I was once again met with the luscious, flowery field that swayed back and forth in the gentle winds.

I took a deep breath and looked into the sky to see where the sun was. It was around noon currently, and the sky was pretty cloudy, I’d say around half cloudy half clear.

Either way, the weather didn’t really matter to me all that much to me as I knew which direction I had to go based on the fact that I was facing away from where the forest was, meaning that I was facing West, the direction I needed to go.

I started to travel that way and quickly realised that there were several problems. One, I more than likely couldn’t enter the town I could see off in the distance due to something called "Public indecency" whatever that was.

I also didn’t have any money, not a good thing if I wanted to interact with civilization. Not that I wanted to anyways.

And the last thing I wanted was to get involved in something related to the kingdom as that would hinder my journey back to the desert. And I don’t know how long it will take, as I don’t even know where I am in comparison to Krara city.

*Sigh* ’Maybe I could ask someone about this later when I get closer to the desert.’ I though as I started to trek westward.

I followed a path that probably led to the town ahead, so I would probably veer off of it when I got closer.

After a couple of hours of travelling I could see people off in the distance, having just left the town and they were headed this way.

I decided that now was probably a good time to veer off the beaten path and stay away from people.

Unfortunately, it seemed that trouble would find me as the people that left the town were now walking towards me.

I sighed and prepared to greet them as straying further away would just arouse suspicion. As they got closer, I could tell that they were adventurers based on their getup.

"Hey there!" The guy who I assumed to be the leader and a swordsman of the group waved, greeting me. "You’re a sexy specimen, how about we- OW!" He screamed as one of his female companions slapped him on the back of the head. "Mary!"

"John you can’t fuck everything you see just because it looks hot. This is why we’re going to the dungeon, to let you go free in there." The woman I took to be Mary scolded their leader. She appeared to be the mage of the party with the staff she was carrying.

Then their healer spoke up, he seemed to be some sort of male priest, "Come on Mary, you know what John’s like when he’s pent up. Besides, if you’re so annoyed by it, why not just relieve him of his- OW!"

"Shut up Alex! Why don’t YOU do it instead since you love to get pegged so much?" Mary shouted ash she wacked Alex the priest on the head with her staff.

The three of them seemed to get into an argument as the other two members of their party just sighed and ushered me off to the side to talk.

"We’re sorry about our party members, they always get like this when sex is involved." The woman who looked to be something I think was called a ninja apologised for her friend’s behaviour.

"Yeah, we didn’t want to come greet you as you seemed to not want to interact with people but, John wanted to anyways because of his currently high libido." The man who was their tank I assumed based off of his full, bright white plate armour and his shield. Based on the colour of his armour, he might be a paladin.

"It’s okay. I’m glad there are at least some reasonable people in your group." I responded kindly.

"Haha! Well, that lot are usually pretty good when it comes to anything, but as I said, when their libido is like this, their IQ drops significantly." The paladin explained.

"I see..." There was a momentary pause before I spoke back up and asked, "Mary said you were headed to a dungeon, correct?"

"That’s right. We felt a tremor from here, and although it wasn’t that big, we decided to go and check it out and visit the dungeon while we’re there." The ninja woman answered.

Seeing that they were likely headed to where I just came from, I decided to inform them of the situation there, "Oh... Well, I hate to say it, but the dungeon has been conquered."

"Ah, unfortunate. For them I mean." The paladin said in a regretful tone whilst pointing at the three people that were still arguing. "Well, if that’s all, we’ll be heading on back to the town."

"Yes, thanks for telling us about the dungeon by the way. Saves us a trip there and back." The ninja thanked before the two of them went back over to their party to tell them everything.

I took this opportunity to get out of here, slithering away from them and making my way round the outside of the city.

As I was leaving, I could hear John, I think, screaming at me to get back here, so I sped up. I took a glance back and could vaguely see the rest of their party laughing at him.

I smiled lightly before I sighed, knowing that I wouldn’t be able to experience such comradery again. I just couldn’t bring myself to have such a deep relationship with others. Not after everything I’ve been through.

I turned back to face the lands ahead of me, and gazed up at the sun, seeing that it was getting low.

Looking back down, I could see lands that stretched out far and wide. I suppose this would be a good chance to properly test out my new speed. Actually, perhaps I should just increase it and my Stamina. It would certainly help me get home faster. Yeah, let’s do that.

’Good, that’s all my points spent, now I just need to try out these new stats.’

And so, I shot out into the distance with a burst of vigorous speed, unlike anything I’d experienced before, the wind rushing by me as I sped off into the horizon, not looking back even once.
