Chapter 176: Meeting a God Again

I placed my hand onto the orb and at first nothing happened. Of course, nothing happened because I needed to imbue my will into it first. So, I did that.

And as soon as I did, my vision turned white.

I wasn’t surprised by something like this at this point, I’d experience it so many times by now.

And when I opened my eyes, I wasn’t surprised to find myself in front of Loki. I was however, surprised to find that the area looked like some kind of tentacle nest.

"Uhh..."

"Oh this? This is just a representation of the dungeon itself, if you were wondering." Loki explained aloofly.

"Okay, but why tentacles?" I asked as I sat down on a chair that was prepared for me along with some tea. I also noticed that my voice was fixed in this place, and wasn’t a broken mess.

"Eh, this is just what first appeared and I was too lazy to change it." Loki explained apathetically.

"So what am I doing here this time? And what’s with those slimes? Why did they bring me here, and what’s the point of this place?"

"Whoa, slow down girl. One question at a time." Loki berated me. "To answer your many questions, I had these slimes brought here, or at least, I had one bring you here, but for some reason, they seem to have multiplied. Something that not even I expected them to do."

"Wait, you don’t have control over them?" I asked in confusion.

Loki sighed and said, "Sadly, I do not. I gave them the order to bring you here, but what they did and how they did it was up to them. The fact that they multiplied is beyond me, I’ve never seen anything like it in this new world."

"So, why did you ask them to bring me here?" I inquired.

"To give you an apology gift for failing my end of the deal." He explained.

I looked at him sceptically. "This doesn’t seem like something you would normally do for people."

"True, and there’s a special reason that I’m making an exception for you. As normally I would just brush it off as them not being specific enough, but I don’t wish to anger your father." He explained casually before his tone became a bit more grounded, "So I’m compensating your loss with this dungeon."

I was caught off guard by that explanation. "What? What do you mean by compensating me for my loss? And what do you mean by saying that this dungeon is my compensation?"

"Jeez, I said slow down, one question at a time." Loki sputtered again. "But to answer, your father was angry with my first interaction with you. To be honest, I only did that because of what you did with that dungeon core. But he seemed upset even when I explained the situation."

"Then, when the ring failed to protect, your father basically coerced me into giving you a new core as compensation. What you do with it though is up to you, you can use it to create another magic item or do something completely different. You could even leave it as is for all I care. I’m just here to gift it to you on behalf of your father." Loki finished explaining.

And as soon as he did, tears started flowing from my eyes as I was overwhelmed by sadness and happiness. Sadness because I’ve been subconsciously trying to supress those painful memories and anything relating to them. And happiness because my father is watching out for me.

"Ehh... Is something wrong? Was it something I said? Please tell me, I don’t want your father of all people angry at me." Loki asked in concern for his own wellbeing.

I managed to stutter a response, "D-Don’t m-mention th-that past t-to me."

"O-Okay? I won’t mention our deal again then. But your father still wants me to give this to you, even without the past he paid me greatly for it so you’re getting it anyways." Loki rambled with a hint of disinterest.

"R-Really?" I asked in between my tears.

"Yeah, I wasn’t inclined at first since even though I have control over dungeons, that doesn’t mean I can just create them willy nilly. Most of them I just oversee the forming of whenever they happen to keep the other gods happy, I rarely make one for myself, even rarer that I make one for others. That is, unless they pay me. And you father has paid me with a substantial amount and the promise of being free from his wrath." Loki explained nonchalantly.

"..." I didn’t say anything as I wasn’t sure whether or not to be thankful to him for this, as the reasons behind it were both sincere and also selfish to some degree.

"I can see that you are at a loss for words. That’s fair, I can see why someone like you is like this in this situation." Loki seemed to sympathise with me. "Welp, since that’s over, might as well give ownership of this dungeon to you." But as soon as that sympathy appeared, it disappeared. "By the way, little suggestion, but when you get older and want to find a place to call your own, you could perchance turn this dungeon into your home. You don’t have to, this is just in case you can’t find one or don’t know what else to do with this dungeon."

I stared at Loki with an incredulous look.

"What? Don’t look at me like that. Your father was the one that made me do all this. If not for him, you wouldn’t be here right now, would you?"

"Father..." I muttered longingly.

Loki seemed to be put off by my dissonance towards the situation.

"Uhh... Eh? What?" Then out of nowhere, he was startled by something. "Er... One moment, your father wants a word with me." And with that, he suddenly vanished, leaving me alone in this rather off-putting room.

I was startled by the sudden change in Loki’s demeanour. It seemed like he was startled by something or other.

It seemed like I would soon find out as he soon returned with a slightly perturbed expression.

"Soo... Your father wants to talk to you and has forced me, with another generous donation to my pockets, to basically cast an exact replica of each other through me, that would act and say whatever you say to the other side, allowing you to converse with your father."

"... What?"

"I’m going to turn into the image of your father and do and say everything he does and visa versa."

"Oh. Wait, really?" I asked as I started to tear up even more.

I saw as Loki’s image started to transform into a two metres two tall magenta skinned demon with long, curved horns coming out of his forehead and ruby red eyes that glittered like real gemstones.

He had a warm smile on his face as he teared up also.

"Hello my princess." He said warmly in his sweet masculine voice as he opened his arms up for a hug.
