Chapter 154: Symbol Of Unity

Chapter 154: Symbol Of Unity

A quiet afternoon in Valeidio was interrupted by the arrival of a messenger from Zephyros.

The royal family had been going about their usual routines when a servant hurried into the throne room with a letter in hand, marked with the seal of Zephyros.

Queen Morgana and King Xavian, seated together, exchanged puzzled glances before Xavian nodded for the servant to approach.

The queen took the letter, her brow furrowed in curiosity as she broke the seal. The moment she began reading, her expression shifted from confusion to surprise, then to pure delight.

"Eirik is pregnant!" she exclaimed, her voice trembling with excitement. She clutched the letter to her chest, her eyes shining with tears of joy. "My baby... he’s going to be a father."

King Xavian, who had been quietly watching her reaction, leaned forward. "Pregnant?" His tone was one of disbelief, but when he saw the happiness radiating from his wife’s face, a slow smile spread across his own. "That’s incredible news."

Lucian and Julian, who had been lounging near the windows, sprang to their feet at their mother’s words. The twins exchanged grins, their excitement mirroring their mother’s.

"Pregnant? Our baby brother is going to be a father?" Julian laughed, walking over to snatch the letter from their mother’s hands. He scanned it quickly, then nudged his twin. "Lucian, can you believe it? Eirik actually did it. And so soon!"

Lucian smirked, shaking his head in mock disbelief. "I guess we underestimated him."

The twins’ older brother, Theron, entered the room just as Julian was handing the letter back. He raised an eyebrow at the commotion. "What’s going on?"

Julian grinned widely. "Eirik’s going to be a father. He’s expecting."

Theron’s face lit up with a grin of his own. "Really? That’s wonderful news." He glanced over at their parents, who looked thoroughly pleased.

Julian turned to his father. "We should send word to Theo and Ella!" He suggested eagerly. "They’ll be thrilled to hear about it."

Lucian nodded in agreement, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "Absolutely. They’ve been stuck at the border. But this will brighten their day."

King Xavian nodded in approval. "Yes, send word to them. They’ll be overjoyed."

The twins exchanged knowing smiles and immediately called for a servant to prepare a message for their cousins, eager to share the joyful news.

"A child," Xavian mused, leaning back in his chair, a rare smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "A grandchild, a symbol of unity between our kingdoms. Wonderful! "

Theron, smiled warmly at his father. "It is, Father. This will strengthen the bond between Valeidio and Zephyros even further."

The king’s eyes gleamed with satisfaction. "You must make sure Lord Cedric knows as well. Your uncle would want to hear of this."

Theron bowed his head. "Of course, Father. I’ll send word to him immediately."

The joy in the air was palpable, and even the usually formal atmosphere of the palace felt lighter as the royal family absorbed the news of Eirik’s pregnancy.

But it was Queen Morgana who felt the greatest surge of emotion. She had always doted on Eirik, her youngest, and now the thought of him becoming a father filled her with overwhelming joy.

However, the joy was bittersweet.

Queen Elena, Eirik’s mother-in-law, was still unconscious, battling the effects of Nyrax Syndrome, and Morgana knew how much Elena would have been so thrilled by this news.

"I need to see Elena," Queen Morgana said softly, as she rose from her seat. "She needs to know about this."

King Xavian placed a hand on her arm, his eyes filled with understanding. "Go. She’ll wake soon. And when she does, she’ll have something beautiful to live for."

Morgana smiled sadly, nodding before leaving the room. Her heart was heavy with the weight of hope and sorrow as she made her way through the palace halls to the chambers where the Zephyros queen was resting under the careful watch of Valeidio’s finest healers.

As she entered the room, the soft light filtered through the high windows, casting a gentle glow over Queen Elena’s pale face.

Morgana stood beside the bed, her heart aching for the woman who had become not only her ally but her family.

The queen’s breathing was steady, though her eyes remained closed, her body still weak from the illness that had nearly claimed her life. Yet, there was a clear difference, a subtle improvement in the color of her skin, a faint strength in her pulse. The treatment was working.

Morgana gently adjusted the blankets around Elena, her touch tender as if she were caring for her own child. She sat beside her, smoothing the silver strands of hair from Elena’s face, and then leaned in, her voice soft but filled with emotion.

"Elena," she began, her voice breaking just slightly. "Eirik... he’s going to be a father. Our kingdoms will soon welcome a grandchild, a new life... Your grandchild."

Morgana paused, her gaze fixed on the sleeping queen’s face, willing her to wake, to hear the news that would surely bring her joy.

"I know how much you wanted this," she continued, her voice growing stronger. "You’ve always talked about grandchildren, how you couldn’t wait to hold them in your arms. I need you to wake up, Elena. I need you to get well so you can be there for them... for him."

Her heart swelled with hope as she squeezed Elena’s hand gently, her eyes filling with tears. "We need you," she whispered. "Your family needs you."

For a long moment, Morgana sat in silence, the weight of her emotions pressing down on her, before she finally rose to her feet. The healers would be arriving soon to check on Queen Elena, and Morgana knew she needed to leave them to their work. But as she left the room, she cast one final glance over her shoulder, her heart full of hope and quiet determination.

"We’ll be waiting for you, Elena," she whispered before closing the door behind her.

As Morgana left the room, the healer passed her in the hallway, ready for Elena’s daily checkup. The queen watched the door close behind her and sighed, silently praying that Elena would wake before the birth of her grandchild.
