Chapter 118: The Morning of the Wedding

The palace was alive with a sense of urgency and joy that permeated every corner, from the grand halls to the servants’ quarters.

Servants hurried through the grand halls, carrying linens, floral arrangements, and trays of food, while musicians practiced melodies that would later fill the grand ballroom.

The atmosphere was electric, filled with anticipation and a touch of nervousness.

Today was a day of celebration, the royal wedding of Prince Kaelix and Prince Eirik, and the entire kingdom of Zephyros buzzed with excitement.

In his dressing chambers, Eirik sat before a tall mirror, his usually serene expression replaced by a mix of anticipation and nervousness. His long white hair cascaded around him like a waterfall, carefully braided with silver threads, while his purple eyes seemed to sparkle with a blend of joy and anxiety.

The room was bustling with attendants, each focused on their tasks, adjusting the intricate layers of Eirik’s wedding robes, styling his hair, and ensuring that every detail was perfect.

The air was thick with the scent of fresh flowers and the faint, comforting notes of distant music. Yet, despite the joyful hum of preparations, Eirik’s heart pounded with an unsettling mix of emotions, joy, anxiety, and the heavy weight of the future that lay ahead.

Eirik couldn’t help but fidget slightly, adjusting his collar and tugging at the sleeves of his robe.

He was surrounded by family, all watching him with a mix of pride and the bittersweet realization that their little brother, cousin, and friend was taking a significant step forward.

Julian, had been unusually quiet this morning. He was often the lively one, always quick with a joke or a teasing comment, but today his eyes were misty, barely holding back tears.

He kept adjusting Eirik’s collar even though it was already perfectly straight, his fingers trembling slightly. "You look...stunning," Julian said, his voice thick with emotion. "I can’t believe you’re actually getting married today."

Eirik chuckled softly, though his eyes glistened. "I can’t believe it either."

Julian pulled him into a tight hug, holding him a little longer than usual, as if reluctant to let go.

Lucian, stood beside them, his usual nonchalant expression softened by pride and a hint of sadness.

He squeezed Eirik’s shoulder, offering silent support while he struggled to maintain his composure.

"Don’t let this go to your head," Lucian said with a smirk, masking his own feelings. "But you look absolutely breathtaking today. Kaelix is lucky to have you."

Eirik laughed lightly, though tears were already pooling in his eyes. "Thank you, Lucian. That means a lot."

Theron, their eldest brother, stood nearby, arms crossed with his usual composed demeanor. But today, even Theron’s stoic mask cracked. He smiled tightly, trying to suppress his emotions. "We’re all proud of you, Eirik. You’ve grown into someone... remarkable."

Eirik swallowed hard, touched by Theron’s words. "Thank you, Brother."

Their cousins, Ella and Theo, lingered near the door, their expressions filled with warmth and affection. Ella stepped forward, giving Eirik’s hand a reassuring squeeze. "We’re all so proud of you. Just breathe, okay?"

Theo nodded, his gaze softening. "And don’t forget, you’ve got all of us right behind you, cheering you on.

Eirik nodded, feeling comforted by their presence, but there was still a longing in his eyes. "I wish Uncle Cedric was here," he murmured, his voice tinged with sadness.

There was a pause, a shared silence that spoke volumes. Uncle Cedric’s absence was felt deeply by them all.

Theo stepped forward, his expression serious yet warm. "Don’t worry, Eirik. When we get back to Valeidio, I’ll drag him to visit you if I have to"

Eirik laughed, a genuine, light-hearted sound that eased some of the tension in the room. "I’m holding you to that, Theo."

Just then, the door opened once more, and King Xavian and Queen Morgana entered, their regal presence filling the room. The siblings and cousins stepped aside, giving way to the King and Queen as they approached their son. Morgana’s eyes were misty with unshed tears as she gazed at Eirik, her expression a blend of pride and melancholy.

"My beautiful boy," she whispered, her voice thick with emotion. She reached out, brushing a stray lock of hair from his forehead.

"You’ve grown into such an extraordinary man, and we couldn’t be prouder of you."

Eirik’s eyes filled with tears, and he tried to blink them away, but a few escaped. "Thank you, Mama. I just... I hope I make you proud."

King Xavian stepped forward, and wrapped his arms around his son in a rare, heartfelt embrace. "You already have, son. And today, you make history. Just be yourself, and everything will be perfect."

The moment was thick with unspoken emotions, and Eirik felt both comforted and overwhelmed by the love surrounding him. For the first time that morning, he felt a surge of calm.

Meanwhile, in another chamber across the palace, Kaelix was also preparing for the most important day of his life.

His attendants moved around him, fastening the last clasps of his ceremonial armor, which was adorned with intricate designs symbolizing his royal llineage

Kaelix’s usually confident demeanor was strained, his mind racing with a mix of excitement and apprehension. The reality of his impending vows weighed heavily on him, and though he was determined, a small part of him couldn’t help but feel nervous.

Queen Elena watched him closely, her eyes filled with pride. She adjusted his cuffs and brushed an imaginary dust off his shoulder.

"You look magnificent, son. You’re finally taking a step that will not only shape your future but the future of our kingdom."

Kaelix smiled faintly, trying to mask his nerves. "I just want to make sure I do everything right, Mother. For Eirik."

Elena cupped his face gently, her eyes searching his. "You already are. And I’m so proud of you."

King Reagan entered, his presence commanding as always. He nodded at Elena, who stepped back to give father and son a moment. Reagan approached Kaelix, his expression serious yet warm.

He placed a firm hand on Kaelix’s shoulder. "You’ve been trained for many things, my son, but today is not about duty or battle. It’s about love. Make sure you see Eirik as your partner. Your equal. Love him fiercely. Protect him with everything you have."

Kaelix met his father’s gaze, feeling the weight of responsibility settle on his shoulders. "I will, Father. I promise."

Reagan clapped Kaelix on the shoulder. "Good. Never forget my words."

Kaelix nodded, feeling bolstered by his father’s words. He watched as his parents exited the chamber, leaving him alone for a brief moment. Just as he was about to collect his thoughts, his cousins Darren and Lysander burst in, full of energy and mischief.

"Congratulations, cousin!" Lysander exclaimed, clapping Kaelix on the back. "Today’s the big day. Ready to become a married man?"

"Look at you!" Darren exclaimed, giving Kaelix a once-over. "All dressed up and looking like a proper prince. How does it feel, huh? Nervous?"

Kaelix rolled his eyes but couldn’t suppress a smile. "A bit. But mostly excited."

Lysander smirked, leaning against the wall. "Excited, huh? Is that for the wedding... or the wedding night?"

Kaelix shot him a glare. "Seriously? You two are unbelievable."

Darren laughed, pushing Lysander aside as he made exaggerated gestures with his hands. "Don’t worry, Kaelix, if you need any tips on how to, you know, position Eirik properly, we’re more than happy to give a demonstration."

Kaelix’s face turned bright red as Darren pantomimed a ridiculous pose, while Lysander doubled over in laughter. "I do not need instructions from either of you," Kaelix said, half mortified, half amused.

But Darren wasn’t done teasing. He stepped forward, striking another dramatic pose and gesturing as if giving a lesson. "Now, you’ll want to start with a soft approach, don’t scare the poor prince away."

Kaelix groaned, burying his face in his hands. "Please, stop."

Lysander joined in, laughing as he added, "And remember, communication is key. Ask him what he likes..."

"Enough!" Kaelix cut them off, though he was laughing despite himself. "You two are impossible. Honestly, what kind of cousins did I get stuck with?"

Darren gave him a playful nudge. "The best kind. Now, seriously, Kaelix, we’re happy for you. And we know Eirik is too. Just... don’t overthink it. You’re going to be fine."

Kaelix felt a rush of affection for his cousins, their teasing lifting some of the weight off his shoulders. "Thanks, guys. I appreciate it. Even if your advice is... questionable at best."

The three of them laughed, the sound echoing through the chamber.

"Just don’t faint when you see Eirik. He will even be more breathtaking in wedding robes." Darren added with a smirk.

Kaelix chuckled, his nerves easing with each playful jab from his cousins. Despite their teasing, he knew they meant well. "Get out before I change my mind about inviting you to the wedding."

Lysander raised his hands in surrender. "Alright, alright. But we’ll be watching, and we expect you to dazzle everyone."

As his cousins left, Kaelix took a deep breath, feeling the last of his anxiety slip away. His family’s support had bolstered his spirits, and now, more than ever, he was ready to take this next step with Eirik.
