A Professor of Magic at Hogwarts -
Chapter 617: Followers of Harp - (2)
"No, I think it's destiny, you see—" he pointed to the introduction of the puppeteer chapter, " 'Puppets' is just a concept. I don't want people to focus only on its materials and crafting techniques. It can be anything, with magic assisting us in work, life, and learning... look."
Not far from here, beyond a mountain, the Diggory family lived next to a modest dwelling, only a few hundred feet apart. The Diggorys had moved due to the impact of war and had found solace in the Weasleys' companionship.
"Your child is excellent, Mr. Diggory."
From the neat and pretty house came the praise from Mr. Zhang's father and Mr. Diggory's hearty laughter.
Cedric and Zhang couldn't stand the scrutiny and atmosphere inside the house, so they stepped outside for some fresh air, whispering to each other as they walked.
"They're really... impatient," Zhang said irritably. She looked at Cedric and hesitated, "You... really don't plan to join the Ministry of Magic?" Cedric shook his head slightly, "I've already rented a storefront in Diagon Alley."
"Diagon Alley?" Zhang said somewhat disappointed, "I thought you would choose Hogsmeade. I still have one more year to graduate."
Cedric smiled brightly, "Don't worry, I won't forget Hogsmeade weekends. The reason I chose Diagon Alley is because Fred, George, and the Sword Castle are all there. It's convenient for research... Do you remember the one-time space capsules? I think they have great potential and match well with my puppets."
They arrived at an old garage.
Fred and George were squatting on the ground, studying something. "How come they're here? Didn't you say they were busy opening a branch?" Zhang asked quietly. "Caught by Mrs. Weasley," Cedric replied in a hushed voice. The twins, with their backs to them, raised their heads. "I seem to hear someone talking behind our backs."
"I just stated the facts," Cedric shrugged, "How's the gnome breeding going?"
"Everything's going smoothly, except they're getting dumber," Fred sighed.
"Maybe that's an advantage, you know, witches like silly things," George said, and Zhang glared at him. "Oh, sorry, I mean pets." In a short while, Zhang's arms and shoulders were covered with shallow pink and purple fuzzballs. They chirped and, as Fred and George had said, didn't look very intelligent.
George gave Cedric a look that said: See, I was right.
Cedric laughed.
"Ginny likes these little guys too," Fred said, "How's the new shop?"
"Opening in a few days," Cedric said, "Besides some previous products, I've also developed a transformative smoke."
"Show us!" Fred and George said in unison.
Cedric took out a teacup from his pocket, shook it vigorously, and then poured it out. A dense, fine mist, like liquid, surged out. They looked like constantly growing crystal clusters, covering the entire workbench.
"They're actually a whole. You'll find it easier to perform transfiguration on them, like this."
Cedric waved his wand, and the crystal cluster-like smoke easily condensed into various shapes. "It has a certain strength. You can turn it into a chair, a simple tent, or various small animals. Even first and second-year students can easily handle it."
Finally, they saw a lifelike Hogwarts castle.
"For transfiguration, you need to have sufficient understanding of the thing to be transformed. This smoke can be of help." Cedric hesitated, "So, this is actually a tool for learning transfiguration."
"Maybe more than that," Fred leaned on his shoulder, "This thing has a lot of uses..."
In the evening, Covent Garden Royal Opera House.
Felix sat in the dim auditorium, listening to a piano concert.
Francois Crutoy performed perfectly, and when he took his bow, the applause thundered through the hall. Despite his calm demeanor, Felix was excited to the point of tears. As the audience left one by one, they were still immersed in the atmosphere created by the music.
Camera flashes made the stage very bright, and a microphone was handed over.
"Mr. Crutoy, may I ask what the goddess and angels in your piece refer to? Or is it your longing for the beauty of life?"
"Do you have a new understanding of religion?"
Crutoy squinted slightly, seemingly seeing a familiar face in the audience. Felix smiled at him.
"Mr. Crutoy?"
"Oh," Crutoy stared at the empty seats, thoughtful, "The two pieces refer to the same thing. If I had to say they differ, perhaps one is what is seen, and the other is what is thought."
"When sorrow comes, may we all encounter angels."
...
Harry received a supplementary book list and, along with it, the Quidditch team captain badge, which he repeatedly examined, feeling extremely excited.
"Anything else you need to buy?" Sirius asked. "Yes!" Harry looked down at the book list, read it over and over, then said in amazement, "Sixth-year Dark Arts Defense, 'Encounter with the Faceless Monster'—"
"Ah, that book is quite famous," Sirius said.
"And also—" Harry swallowed. "And also three other books, 'Muggle Struggles: Starting from a Million Years Ago,' 'How Muggles Think,' and 'Magic in the Muggle World.'"
"Are you sure you didn't make a mistake?" Sirius almost fell off his chair.
"No," Harry said.
Sirius rubbed his chin, "Sounds like the new professor is a crazy admirer of Felix."
