A Professor of Magic at Hogwarts
Chapter 610: Dinner - (2)

Vernon squinted his eyes.

"Ah, I see. You want to discuss serious matters with me," Felix said.

"You're right!" Vernon turned his head quickly and spoke into thin air, "You've worked at N.E.W.T. Corp, a big company... but look, I'm not that bad either. I'm an excellent sales manager, seen all kinds of people... If someone is plotting against my property or house—"

"Are you insane?" Harry exclaimed. "Me? Plotting against your house?"

"I'm not insane, quite the opposite." Vernon's eyes gleamed with shrewdness as he gritted his teeth. "There have been signs, haven't there? That... that Voldemort guy has been captured, kid, you have no reason to stay here..."

"Vernon," Aunt Petunia shouted from the kitchen door.

"Let me finish! Voldemort has been captured... we're safe now, but this kid insists on staying. Petunia, think about it, why?"

"I want to know why too!" Harry shouted.

Felix cleared his throat.

"It seems there's very little communication between you two. If you had a bit of understanding about the magical world, you would realize that this concern is completely unnecessary; it's just paranoia."

"Paranoia?" Vernon stared.

"Yes," Felix nodded, crossed his legs, and with a wave of his hand, a steaming cup of tea appeared. "My plan originally didn't include answering questions for people, but I can spare a few minutes now because it's easy to explain."

Vernon put on a negotiating demeanor, staring at Felix's face with his small eyes. Aunt Petunia did the same.

"Firstly, this house," he looked around with interest, "is protected by advanced magical spells arranged by Albus Dumbledore, the Headmaster of Hogwarts—you know who he is, right?" His gaze fell on Aunt Petunia, her expression stiffened. "It's simple; as a powerful wizard, he set up intricate protective magic around, tied to familial blood. Its purpose is not only to protect the underage Harry but also to keep you safe."

"The magical effect will last until Harry comes of age. During this time, Harry must stay here for a while each year, not much, just a few weeks."

"Now that Voldemort has been captured, and his followers nearly wiped out, there's no reason for Harry to stay here. Hmm... I can only guess why he's still here, as I'm not the decision-maker: perhaps because Voldemort isn't dead yet, and for caution, it's better not to let the magic expire."

"He can still escape?" Vernon said disdainfully. "In our world—"

"Escapes happen often," Felix nodded, adding. Vernon's face turned red.

"Wizards and Muggles—ordinary people—are similar in some aspects, like emotions; however, there are differences, especially in magical matters. For example, in the topic we're discussing, Voldemort is a quite terrifying dark wizard."

"He's different from the armed criminals you may encounter; he's much more dangerous... for instance, given time, he could easily destroy London."

The Dursley family shivered.

"Don't even think—"

"Regardless of how strange it may sound to you, it's true." Felix interrupted. "Decades ago, he planned to take over the Ministry of Magic and extend his influence into the ordinary world. He and his followers took pleasure in torturing ordinary people. Many of the unsolved mysteries you know were their doings."

"Harry's parents stood up against Voldemort at that time. I don't know if they told you— but they were indeed doing the right thing. Afterwards... there were casualties on both sides, and Voldemort was unstoppable for a while, until he targeted the Potter family—"

"The boy who survived!" Dudley suddenly said, pointing at Harry. "He killed Voldemort."

Two gasps.

"That's a misunderstanding," Felix corrected. "Voldemort didn't die, just—uh, in your terms, suffered severe injuries, had to go into hiding. There's also a misconception, it wasn't Harry who severely harmed Voldemort; it was his mother Lily, who cast a complex protection spell. In simple terms, a life for a life."

"Harry was sent to you, as I mentioned earlier. He's not happy here, and though I have no right to blame you, from a neutral standpoint, I suggest you tone it down a bit. After all, you won't be together for much longer. If Harry's admirers find out..."

Yes, he has admirers. Quite a few.

When Harry comes of age, how he chooses is not my concern; that's his business. But there are some things you need to know..."

"For example, wizards never worry about houses. Take myself as an example, with enough materials, I can build a town in a day. And I do have similar plans, just not now."

The Dursley family stared wide-eyed, unsure if the man in front of them was making things up.

"This is true," Harry said impatiently. "The professor once built a castle over a hundred feet tall in a very short time. It's been two years, and that house is still used as the headquarters of the 'Future World' company."

"Company? Whose?" Vernon asked sensitively.

"Mine." Felix said cheerfully.

"Aren't you that professor from that school?" Vernon quickly inquired, seeming pleased to find a flaw in his words.

"Oh, you have to allow me to have a side job."

Vernon grumbled a bit, looking suspiciously at Harry.

"This kid can build houses too?"

"Harry's talent isn't in that area. I just gave an example; wizards can do many things. For example, on rockets—well, let's get back to the point. Harry has inherent magical abilities; maybe that has caused you some trouble. But he will be an excellent warrior, just like his parents. In some aspects, he has even surpassed them. The downfall of Voldemort is directly related to your nephew."

...

When Harry escorted Felix to the door, he asserted:

"Professor, you're wasting your effort. I swear they won't change in the future."

"You're right, some people are beyond redemption." Felix agreed.

"Then why—"

"I told you, how to deal with family relationships is your own business. I don't intend to change their minds with a few words; it's not realistic. But at least, I don't want my visit to make your relationship worse."

Harry lowered his head in contemplation; the professor seemed to have helped him, but the professor himself didn't admit it.

"Oh, right, almost forgot the main thing. Harry, where does Mr. Bagshot live?"

"Just nearby... why?"

"

Unfortunately, he won't be coming back. Something bad happened... I've been tasked with packing his luggage."

"He, he's dead?" Harry widened his eyes, the image of the frail, sometimes refined, sometimes gloomy old man flashing in his mind. Even though they had spent only a few days together, he already considered him a friend.

"Haha, brilliant deduction!" Felix chuckled. "I'll pass on your 'concern' to him."

Basically, the substantial plot about the Dursley family ends here; it might be mentioned sporadically later or appear in side stories. As Felix said, changing someone with a few words is not realistic; he's just an outsider and shouldn't make decisions for Harry.

In the original work, even scenes bordering on life and death couldn't break through the defenses of the Dursleys, so I couldn't think of more shocking scenes. Therefore, changes can only happen in Dudley.
