A Nobody to a Trillionaire: The $100 Trillion Vault Changed Everything -
Chapter 52: A Game
Chapter 52: A Game
Without wasting a second, Kieran pulled out his phone and called Amanda.
When she picked, he ordered:
"Gather the boys who have recovered from their injuries and track down the location of Mrs Jackson’s two sons. I have a hunch Cade will go for them instead."
Because he understood the game — Cade would take the chance of abducting the people Mrs Jackson value most and use that to lure her to him.
Deep inside a thick forest, the red powered bike sped through to the front of a lone white villa. Cade Jones pulled over right away before the villa, disembarking it slowly.
Two suited men recognised him immediately and pulled out their guns. But he stepped slowly closer, raising his hand high up to show he didn’t come to hurt.
Only if that were true.
As quickly as he fooled them enough to reach closer, he seized the hand of one of them, thrashed him in the ground after already seizing his pistol too. He would have been gunned down by the other guy if he hadn’t immediately ducked to grab his waist and slam his back to the ground... And that was a lucky move for his gun to fall off to the ground.
As soon as Cade jumped off him, he blasted both guys in the forehead, their blood spraying on the dirt-free white villa wall.
He met more, but the result was the same. They were experienced folks, that was for sure, but how unfortunate of them to be opponents with him.
They themselves weren’t looking that confident when they attacked him... And he wished he could spare their lives too because he had got most of them on his team before. But it couldn’t be helped... It was either he kills them or gets killed himself.
He soon found the person he was here for — Felix Jackson — in the spacious, circle-like lounge. But wasn’t calm or nonchalant as he thought he would be — besides, the riches always want to hold to their charisma like a police holds to worthless rights.
Instead, Felix was behind two more guards holding short sticks, each one filling the space enough such that their young master is kept safe.
But... that was not an option anymore when he had stopped being the victim.
Cade aimed the gun at one of the guards. "I’m sorry..."
Maybe... Someone else would soon say that to him too?
Just as he was about to pull the trigger, he heard a loud yell from behind him... He turned with slightly parted lips, but it was too late as a lady he recognised stabbed the side of his knee with a knife.
The captain gasped out loud, limping backwards till he thrashed in the ground. He gritted his teeth as the pain shot through his knee, blood sipping out if it and his hands retracting from it and pinning down on it at the same time.
But most importantly, the person who just stabbed him was the tall, track-suited lady before him — Linda. She was on his team too, and was even arrested with him recently.
Guess Mrs Jackson only took care of him and bailed the other.
Linda shuddered, the bloodied knife trembling in her hand too. "I am sorry..."
Felix Jackson shouted from behind the two guys, to Linda, "Finish him off now that he can’t move! Do it!"
The moment Cade looked back at the guy’s and Felix, they drew back with gritted teeth. Why? Because he still had the gun with him.
Tears streamed down Linda’s face as she apologised, "Please forgive me. We just must protect the young master..."
Surprising everyone, Cade rose back to his feet. Not only that, but aimed the gun at the trio. He then said to Linda in a slightly weak tone,
"Don’t be sorry. You were just doing it to survive."
Glancing back forward, he pulled the trigger at the two guards, blasting their heads with two shots. Felix breathing came out sharply as he felt the warm blood on his face. His chest pounded.
And finally, Cade aimed back at Linda too. He had said, "And I must kill you to survive too. Forgive me," then — bang! — he made a difference on her by shooting her chest, not her forehead.
Perhaps, he took that as a last respect? Killing his teammate just because he had to play it safe?
Not so different from the one who killed her sister — that was what Felix grunted about which earned him a punch in the abdomen.
Cade walked him out to his red Bugghati, took the key from him and locked him in the trunk. He soon slid into the driver’s seat and got the car’s engine running. Just then, he texted Mrs Jackson that,
"Get to the Ivory Port soon or see pictures of your dead son online."
And with that, he held the steering. But just as he was about to drive away, something crossed his mind. And the next second, he stomped outside to start looking around the car, rubbing his palm between the tyres, underneath the car and everywhere till he pulled out something stuck right beneath the car.
He mumbled as he looked at the circular chip. "Are trackers the new trend or something?"
But instead of throwing it away, he stuck it back there. *Come find me if you can do anything at the end* — that was what he was pulling, wasn’t it?
Then he drove off the holiday villa.
Minutes later, a black van arrived from inside which men up to ten came out from — Kieran’s secret thugs. They rushed around only to gather back at the front, holding their waists and sighing out of frustration.
"That bastard has taken the guy," was what the leader, for now, lamented about.
He was leading the gang temporarily as the real leader was still in coma.
But right at that moment, one of them rushed to a guard they had thought was dead like others, since he was shot, and in a pool of blood... But the guy was still breathing.
As all of them gathered around him, the guy weakly pronounced,
"Don’t ... hurt... the young master."
But the leader bent and mumbled, "This can’t be helped."
Everyone had something in their mind as they saw him move his hand towards the guy, but maybe they were just overthinking — the leader just checked his chest pockets and everything and pulled out his phone. He put the guy’s finger on the fingerprint port and unlocked the phone. As expected, there was a tracker app on his phone... When he launched it, he found a list of tracked people from where Felix Jackson was, too.
They all gathered around the leader as he pressed the name, only for them to see a red marker constantly moving on a straight line, on the map. Definitely, they had found him.
’Beats me why a random guard is tracking him,’ the leader thought. But putting that aside, he said to the dying guard, "I’ll help you," and stabbed his chest, putting him to a final rest.
Everyone gaped at him. But that was all about it. The real business was stopping the bastard from killing Felix Jackson — as ordered by their boss, Kieran Holland.
As their van sped out of the forest, the leader called Kieran to notify him,
"We have got them tracked. Following it closely now... Could be a trap, but we just have to see."
Kieran replied over the phone, at the same time getting on a bike too in his basement, "Excellent. Forward the reading to me."
After disconnecting the call, Kieran put on his bike helmet, in a tightskin tracksuit. Perhaps going into the psychology class at the hospital back then wasn’t that bad. Because, it says a lot about why he wants to intervene in this and also what actions he would take. If Cade Jones kills Mrs Jackson, he wasn’t wrong for he was settling whatever scores was between them. That was from Cade’s point of view.
But from the point of view of others Cade himself had killed too, it wasn’t too bad if Kieran hands him over to the police.
And if he resists?
"... I will kill him by myself."
Maybe it was time he stopped being generous when everyone around him are playing a game of life and death. Maybe... No one is really doing anything bad.
Kieran’s phone beeped with the map update from the gang, and soon... He sped out of the garage as the automatic door slid rolled open upwards.
