A Mate For The Last Lycan -
Chapter 160: LOSING A BET
Chapter 160: LOSING A BET
Zuri lost the bet.
Three days later, Silas was being led to the gallows, accused with the crimes of feeding Great Lunar Kingdom the information of the food supply for their kingdom. His motive was; revenge, because his father was being executed for treason. And now, he committed one. At least, that was what people thought.
However, Zuri and the other people, who knew Silas for a long time, knew better than to believe such accusation.
Knowing Silas, it was more believable if he tried to steal the food supply to be given to his whores. Silas was simple minded and was easily predicted. He wouldn’t be able to elaborate such scheme.
"This is ridiculous. He couldn’t even organize a party, let alone an attack." Rhett furrowed his brows, as he watched Silas wailed and threw tantrum when he was being led to the gallows. It took two warriors to be able to drag him up there. It was even more surprising that he had such strength to fight two warriors. A silver bracelet around his ankle prevented him from shifting into his beast.
Meanwhile, people cursed at him. They blamed him for their predicament and the ruined of food supplies.
"I didn’t do it! I DIDN’T DO IT! I DIDN’T DO IT!" Silas kept screaming until the rope was put around his neck and he lost his footing.
The last thing he saw was the anger from the people that he knew ever since he was little. The people of his own pack. The last thing he heard was their curses, they cussed him out loud. They wished he was rotten in hell with his father.
"He must have deceived the king to lend him the royal warriors and attack his own pack."
"Yes, no wonder he attacked us before, now he attacked our food supplies."
"What a moron."
People was so angry and Dacre relished the moment to announce that Rhett would be the alpha of the pack and people cheered with this news, completely ignoring Silas’s dead body that was still hanged on the gallows.
But, because of their current situation, there wouldn’t be a big ceremony for it. Rhett felt a little bit bitter, yet he couldn’t show it, because it would reflect badly on him.
"I have granted your request to make Rhett as the alpha of the pack," Dacre said to Khaos, who was standing next to him, while Rhett greeted the people, standing in front of them, as he was the new appointed alpha of the pack. "Now, think of a way to replenish the food supply. I will handle the problem with Great Lunar kingdom."
It was only right that as king he should handle bigger issues and the people understood that. Therefore, they assumed Khaos to come up with a plan for their food supplies, even though at first, it was the king, who said he would find a solution of this problem.
However, while the problem with the food was real, the problem with Great Lunar kingdom was not, since there was not an attack from them to begin with.
"Stop sulking," Khaos said, as he approached Zuri in her favorite spot. He followed her scent that led him to this attic. "Are you upset because your brother was killed?" Khaos teased her.
"It’s about time they killed that useless piece of shit," Zuri replied. She was in her snarky mood apparently.
"So?" Khaos caressed her hair and he got more hair loss between his fingers. "Are you upset because you lost the bet?"
"That woman is way wicked than I imagined," Zuri replied, she rested her chin on her knees, as she hugged her legs on the windowsill, while Khaos was standing next to her.
"Don’t be a sore loser."
"Don’t be an arrogant winner," Zuri retorted and Khaos simply chuckled when she made a face.
They stared at the sun set. The winter was almost over, but it didn’t mean they could get the food supply right away. It would be tricky, more so because some of the food supplies had been ruined, they wouldn’t last for a week.
"What are you going to do about that?" Zuri voiced out her concern.
"Do you want to go somewhere with me?"
"Where?" Zuri’s eyes lit up. She didn’t really like to be in this pack, but at the same time, she found familiarity here, a bitter comfort with every nook and cranny that she was familiar with, since she was growing up in this place.
"I don’t know, maybe to Great Lunar kingdom?" Khaos suggested.
"Do you want to form an ally with them?" Zuri narrowed her eyes, she couldn’t follow his line of thought.
Khaos laughed. "I have my own warriors and your brother’s cult, I think I have enough troops under me to topple Dacre." He mentioned about Rhett’s cult with mocking tone.
Obviously, the alpha didn’t trust him and his cult, but they were still useful and could be a valuable piece in his arsenal.
"Don’t you miss Caiden?"
Zuri scrunched her nose. "I like him enough to save his ass, but not to the point of missing him."
Khaos laughed even louder, Zuri couldn’t find anything funny about her answer, but she liked it to see him laugh like this. It sounded genuine.
"You don’t save his ass, Zuri. He is useful that’s why you used him to carry the mission in the Great Lunar kingdom." Khaos lifted her body and she squealed in surprise. He put her down gentle until her feet touched the ground and pressed her body against the wall. "Also, don’t talk about another man’s ass."
"Why? Jealous?" Zuri grinned, she wrapped her arms around his neck.
"If you have seen his ass, there is nothing to be jealous of. It’s laughable actually."
Both of them laughed, they looked happy together.
However, Zuri lost the bet, thus the ritual would be set for her and it happened two days from now. Elijah was surprised when it was Khaos, who requested it.
