Chapter 91: Chapter 90: Break the Surface

"A Devouring Shark!!" A panicked shout of one of Zoey’s men shook her out of her suprised state, her eyes widening for a moment before becoming focused once more.

"Mount the cannons! Hoist the sails! Now!" Zoey suddenly shouted, realizing the urgence of the situation.

A Devouring Shark was a frightening beast pirates would rarely encounter on the seas, their sharp and frightening jaws, paired with their incredible swimming speed and magical abilities, could easily tear ships apart with their absurd strength.

The pirates quickly scrambled, moving to their stations. The pirates quickly mounted the cannons, aiming directly towards the rapidly approaching Devouring Shark.

The shark’s body gleamed with a silver and blue shine as they seemingly glided through the water at an insane speed, the sea being torn apart as the beast made their way towards them, it’s eyes glowing an evil red colour.

"Wait for it..." Zoey instructed them, holding up her hand as she observed the Devouring Shark, her heart was racing in anticipation, this beast could spell her doom if she wasn’t careful.

The Devouring Shark leaped out of the water like a missile, it’s huge jaws opened as a powerful vortex of water formed in it’s jaws, swirling and crackling with immense power.

Zoey narrowed her eyes, gritting her teeth as she dropped her hand, dropping the signal.

"Fire!!!" She yelled, her voice reaching everyone, filled with urgency.

The pirates quickly blew the fuses as the sounds of cannons blasting filled the air, cannon balls being hurled towards the mid-air Devouring Shark as a ton of cannon balls slammed into it’s body, knocking it back and interrupting it’s attack as the beast let out a pained roar.

’I need to damage it as much as possible while it’s still mid-air.’ Zoey thought, pointing her hand at the beast as she fired a barage of fireballs at the beast with her [Fireball] Skill.

Flames roared to life as they surged forward and swarmed the Devouring Shark in a dangerous explosion, the sea parting from the devastating impact of the Skill.

"Captain! It’s coming at us again!" Evan shouted, starting to sail the ship as he steered the wheel, the wind pushing their ship forward, but the speed is way too slow to even hope for escaping this beast.

’I don’t have a choice, I have to kill this thing.’ Zoey thought.

"Prepare the cannons again! I’ll keep it distracted!" Zoey said, continuing to blast the Devouring Shark with her [Fireball] Skill, raining down fire onto the beast as it swam towards them.

Because of the large veil of water the Devouring Shark was swiming beneath, much of the explosive power and fire from the [Fireball] Skill was reduced greately.

The Devouring Shark roared as it swam through the ocean and towards their ship faster and faster, landing a powerful slam at the ship.

Zoey grunted as she felt gravity shift from the sudden hit from the Devouring Shark, almost tripping from suprise.

The pirates felt it too, as they were starting to get worried about if fhey were going to be able to kill such a beast feared from across the seven seas.

"Damn it!" Zoey cursed in frustration, looking at the beast below that was swiming around their ship and starting to crash into it, slowly starting to wear the ship’s defenses down.

Zoey took out her sword as she jumped into the sea, her body crashing onto the sea bed as she was instantly submerged under water.

The Devouring Shark continued to hit the ship, even though Zoey had jumped into the ocean to kill the monster, yet the monster didn’t pay her any mind.

’It’s ignoring me?’ Zoey raised a brow, holding her breath as she stared at the Devouring Shark, she needed to get it’s attention, and kill it quickly before the ship gets destroyed.

’....’ Zoey looked at her finger, and then at her blade, it was clear what she needed to do.

Zoey winced as she pricked her finger, blood flowing from the open wound and painting the water red, and immediately, the shark stopped attacking.

The Devouring Shark turned it’s frightening crimson gaze at Zoey, it’s eyes glowed red with an intense hunger, it’s aura turning deadly.

’Here it comes!’ Zoey though, activating [Hardened Will], her aura surrounded by a crimson aura as she instinctively braced herself.

The Devouring Shark lunged forward quickly, rapidly approaching Zoey with murderous intent.

Zoey was knocked back from a tackle by the Devouring Shark, defending herself using her [Stone Carved Shield] as she adjusted to her watery surroundings.

She was at a huge disadvantage, even if she was insanely powerful now after leveling up, she still couldn’t move around well like the Devouring Shark could, so this move was an incredibly risky one, but no other option was available.

’I need to knock it out of the water!’

The Devouring Started to go on a rampage, using many of it’s aquatic abilities to overwhelm Zoey, as she was forced to block all the attacks with her [Stone Carved Shield].

The more she continued to bleed through her pricked finger, the more erratic and frantic the Devouring Shark moved, it’s movements becoming alot more agressive.

Just as the Devouring Shark was about to tackle her once again, Zoey finally readied herself as she was presented with a golden opportunity, her aura flaring up as she utilized [Hardened Will] to it’s maximum, her presence becoming terrifyingly powerful a split second.

BAAM!!!

Zoey upward-slammed her [Stone Carved Shield] hard at the Devouring Shark, knocking it out of the water with an explosive water shockwaves that shook the waters.

’Now!’ Zoey thought, activating [Grace Of The Wind], blasting herself out of the water towards the mid-air Devouring Shark like a bullet.

Zoey took out her [Venom Punisher] spear, and with a powerful stab, Zoey plunged the blade into the side of the Devouring Shark, a roar of pain echoing all around as the Devouring Shark suffered immense pain.

The poisonous effects of the [Venom Punisher], triggering in that exact moment.
