Chapter 80 - 79: Channeling The Future

Chapter 80: Chapter 79: Channeling The Future

"What’s next! What’s next!" Celina asked, jumping on her heels as her face showed full excitement. Despite the workout they had, she was still full of energy as she looked extremely excited to push through the training.

Devon and Celina were the ones who had done the most pushups, with Devon coming at 70 pushups, and Celina stopping at 100. Many were suprised by the absurd amount of strength she had, despite not looking like it, she was easily the strongest among them all, only second to Zoey.

"Celina, would you mind telling me your stats?" Zoey asked, raising an eyebrow.

Celina opened her status window as she nodded, "34 Strength, Vitality 40, 10 Intelligence, and 27 Defense." She said.

’Damn, she got really lucky. Awakening as a peak F-Rank is insanely rare, especially if your parents weren’t Hunters, she practically hit the jackpot starting out.’ Zoey thought, using [Heightened Senses] to gauge her power.

Her aura burned the brightest among everyone around her, as she alone stood out like a brilliant flame. The girl could become a D-Rank very soon if she raised her level, or trained incredibly hard to raise her stats.

"Alright, good work everyone. Once again, the majority did an amazing job, there are improvements that need to be made here and there, but for now, we can move onto the next training session." Zoey said, looking at Devon.

"Devon, could you get a stack of papers and give it out to everyone?" Zoey asked him, confusing him slightly as he wondered what she might need papers for, but he dared not ask, simply nodding as he quickly sprinted to get the papers Zoey asked for.

"What do you need papers for Miss Zoey?" Lana asked, raising an eyebrow as she tilted her head slightly. Zoey smiled upon seeing Lana, as she was also one of the spectacular ones.

Despite not being good physically, she was good in terms of Mana. From using [Heightened Senses], she could see the abundant amount of Mana she had inside her, which could also mean that she had a good Intelligence stat.

’If I had to guess, I’d say that she has somewhere around 20-25, or probably even thirty. If that’s the case, then that’s really good!’ Zoey thought.

"The papers are going to be used for a small test, using this test I will help decide who among you will take on the roles of Mages." Zoey said, flashing a warm smile.

Lana nodded, as she then approached Celina and started to talk to her older sister.

After a minute or two, Devon had returned and handed out papers to everyone. They were simple white sheets of paper, nothing really fancy about them.

"Now then," Zoey said, holding a paper in between her fingers. "Let’s start this test shall we?" Zoey said, as her fingers started to glow blue with her Mana, a small blue aura flaring around her.

Then to everyone’s amazement, the paper in between Zoey’s fingers started to burn from the Mana entering it, quickly becoming ash.

"This is a technique that is to test how good one is in channeling their Mana to a specific point, this is known as Mana Channeling, one of techniques that gets taught at the Academies." Zoey explained, putting her hands behind her back.

"All you have to do is channel the Mana from your body, to the tips of your fingers, and into the paper. This is a simple test that is used to determine on how skilled one is in understanding the flow of their Mana, a test for one’s Intelligence stat." Zoey explained.

"Now, begin." Zoey said, starting the test.

The Hunters started to try their hardest to channel their Mana, as many closed their eyes to try and concentrate. As expected, it’s not as easy made it look out to be, as trying to control one’s Mana and channeling it through a paper was incredibly difficult.

Only Mages with a high Intelligence would have a much easier time doing this, as not only are Mages incredibly proficient with their Mana, but have a higher understanding of it than most Hunters.

The test went on for minutes, and most of the Hunters struggled as they couldn’t do what Zoey just did. Even Celina failed to do this, as while her other stats were high, her Intelligence stat wasn’t.

"I did it." Lana said, holding her paper high as it burned, her fingers glowing blue. Zoey grinned, as she found two geniuses in the midst of the Hunters.

"Good job, Lana." Zoey said, patting the girl gently on the head as she smiled.

"I’m sorry, Miss Zoey. I failed." Celina apologized, her shoulders slumping.

"Don’t worry, you still did good in the other tests. It’s just that you’re not mean’t to be a Mage, but you can be a strong Damage Dealer." Zoey said, as she patted Celina with her other hand, which she found delightful.

’I like head pats from Miss Zoey.’ Celina thought, smiling.

"I did it too!" A voice suddenly shouted.

"Me too!"

"I passed the test!"

Zoey blinked suprised as she looked at the people who supposedly passed the test, their papers were burning and their fingers glowed blue, she was happy, looks like there were more Mages besides Lana here.

"Good! This is fantastic. We already have a good foundation so far." Zoey said, smiling proudly.

"Now then, there’s one last test we’ll be doing." Zoey said as she took a few steps back, getting into a combat stance as she stood tall and imposing.

"The Mages will be excused from this exercise, as we’ll be engaging in a small sparring match." Zoey said.

The Mages don’t have any skills as of right now, so them fighting Zoey wouldn’t exactly be fair. Of course, Zoey was going to hold back immensely in this match, as she was going to use this small match to train the Damage Dealers.

The Hunters were suprised and shocked as they looked at Zoey with wide eyes, fight her? In a sparring match? No way! They’re as good as dead!

Many Hunters were very uncertain, as they feared that they might lose their lives from fighting her. Zoey reassured them that she would be holding back, however, they were still scarred to spar with her, much to her disappointment and frustration.

"Me! Me! I wanna spar with Miss Zoey!" Celina said, her voice full of excitement.

’It’s a shame how she’s the only brave one to take on the challenge.’ Zoey thought with a sigh, but soon smiled as she looked forward to sparring with Celina.

"Alright then, come." Zoey gestured for Celina to step forward, as she watched Celina step closer into the area.

"Everyone stand back." Zoey said, as she ordered for everyone to give them a lot of space.

Once everyone was far away from them, but could still see them, Zoey snapped her fingers as she used [Fireball] to summon forth a ton of fireballs, creating a large ring of flames around them.

Celina was incredibly suprised by the flames, as she felt a bit intimidated by the fires around her. But she was still determined to prove herself to Zoey, for more headpats!

"Stay focused Celina, this is all part of the test. A Hunter is required to adapt to any possible situation, as anything could happen inside of a Dungeon." Zoey said, smiling warmly.

"Miss Zoey, how do you know so much? And why do you address us as Hunters?" Celina asked, bringing forth the question that lingered on the back of her mind.

Zoey grinned, she was expecting this. After all, these weren’t normal terms used in this world, but from her world.

"Believe it or not, but I’m not from this world." Zoey said, putting a finger on her lip as to tell Celina not to tell anyone this. She expected Celina to be incredibly shocked after the words she had just heard, but instead she was utterly amazed as her eyes shined like stars.

"Really!?" Celina asked, her tone full of awe, making Zoey giggle a bit as she received a nod.

"I’ll tell you more after we’re done here today, okay?" Zoey said.

"This training will be used to help you improve during combat, I’ll coach you through it as we practice." Zoey said, as she could read the excitement eminating from Celina’s face. Zoey could tell that she was very curious to learn about Zoey and her world, about Hunters and more, and Zoey would gladly educate her on that.

Hunters in this world weren’t an established part yet, as it wasn’t even a day since Hunters started to appear on this world yet. She would educate everyone on their roles in protecting this world, and since these Hunters were the first to ever appear, she would make sure that they were well equipped for the future.

"Ready?" Zoey asked, getting into a combat stance, the air blowing a fresh breeze around them.

"Right!" Celina said with a excited grin, eager to prove herself, the shine in her eyes intensifying.
