Chapter 77: Chapter 76: Dawn Of Hunters In An Apocalyptic World

The wind blew past her as Zoey continued to lie on the ground, unconscious and exhausted from the trials she had faced during this Trial. The air was calm, despite the destroyed surroundings that lied everywhere, and the ruined corpses of the deceased zombies.

Suddenly, a portal manifested infront of her, pulsing with Mana as waves of it leaked through, similar to that of a Dungeon Entrance. The portal was going to take her back to her reality, but Zoey was unconscious, and so it remained infront of her.

Her body started to glow in a bright blue aura, subtle at first, but soon growing stronger, burning brighter.

The Mana around her burned like a flame, but it didn’t harm her, it was a strange phenomenon.

The flames of Mana around exploded, ringing out in every direction, blowing away the zombies in a devastating explosion. Their bodies disintegrated as they made contact with the flames of Mana, becoming ash as they were blown away in the wind.

The sky also underwent change, as in the next moment, the dark and ash filled sky, completed with a crimson sun, completely changed.

The sky became blue and vibrant, the ash and constant smell of destruction fading away as if it were never a thing in the first place. The crimson and fiery sun, shining gold and as beautiful as it originally did.

The world was going back to how it used to be, however, the swirling portals still remained in the world, beginning to release Mana as the pulsed through them.

-------------

At an abandoned warehouse, David, Devon, and the rest of the residents residing in the mansion, were currently inside. People cowered in the corners of the place, trembling in fear.

They were lucky to find a safe place admist the chaos, the monsters were still rampant and only grew stronger as time went on.

They held strong faith in their protector, Zoey, but as they saw the magnitude of enemies she was going up against, many thought she had already died. There was no way for her to actually take on so many monsters, especially when she was by herself, it was basically suicide.

However, others like, David, Devon, Lana, and Celina, all had strong faith in Zoey. They had personally seen the wonders a woman like her could do, her strength seemed limitless, there was no way she could fall against the Apocalpyse, as they truly believed her to be their saviour.

"We’re all gonna die...we’re all gonna die..." A man, looking more terrified than he had been in his entire life, muttered out loud as he hugged his knees. His face was pale, body trembling uncontrollably, looking as if he had just lost his mind.

"No, we’re not." Celina said, her face full of determination as she stood tall. Even admist the chaos, she had hung onto hope, as she knew that if there was anyone that could save them from the hell that had descended upon their world, it was Zoey.

David stood by her, holding both their hands, Lana standing on his left, and Celina on his right. He had to be there for his children, but seeing Celina so determined, admist all the chaos outside, made him truly proud of the daughter he had raised.

"You’re a fool!" The man yelled, startling everyone nearby as they jolted in shock from his words.

"There’s still hope! Zoey will save us!" Celina said, clenching her fists.

"This world is doomed, even a being like her has her limits. Do you really think she’ll be able to take on all those monsters? Why do you think she told us to run away?

It was to buy us time! She knows that she isn’t going to survive that battle, so she intentionally stayed back to buy us some time. She’s probably dead as we speak."

The man said, scoffing as he looked away, his face full of anger as he thought he knew of the grim fate that awaited them.

Celina clenched her fists tighter, her teeth grit, as her body trembled with anger flowing through her body. No, there was no way, she wouldn’t believe it. Zoey couldn’t die, someone of her strength wouldn’t fall to such monsters.

"She’ll survive...I just know it." Celina said, tears unknowingly streaming from her eyes. For if Zoey couldn’t survive, then none of them would.

"Celina..." David said, placing a hand on her shoulder as he dropped to one knee, wiping the tears off his face.

"You’re right, Zoey wouldn’t die, she’s too strong not to. I’ve seen her display her powers myself, someone like her wouldn’t go down that easily." David said, pulling her into a hug as he calmed her down, patting her head gently.

"That’s right, there’s still hope for us in this broken world. She’s given us food, protection, what more could you ask for? She personally went out of her way to take care of us, couldn’t you be more grateful?" Devon asked the man, his face full of disgust.

"All of that won’t matter...we’re still going to die." The man said, burying his face into his knees.

"Why you-!" Just before Devon could say anything, a powerful gust of wind burst through the closed doors of the warehouse.

The cold, blue air startled the many people as the air immediately fell upon them, suprising many people as they wondered what was happening.

"What was that! Is everyone alright?" Devon asked, checking on everyone as he scanned the place.

Everyone nodded, it was a brief strange occurence, but they were fine, nobody was hurt, and that’s what mattered most.

Just then, Celina and Lana were seeing something strange in their vision. Their eyes wide with shock, as they saw a luminous blue panel floating right before their eyes.

[Ding! Enough Mana Has Been Accumulated!]

[Starting System Installation...]

’W...what is this?’ Both Lana and Celina subconsciously shared the same thought, dumbfounded by what they were currently seeing infront of them.

"Lana, Celina, what’s happening? Are you both okay? You both look pale." David asked, worried about his daughters as he saw them staring into the distance with wide eyes, as if they had just seen a ghost.

"Something’s happening!?" A voice broke the suffocating silence, as he too was experiencing what the siblings were.

"I see so something in my vision!"

"A blue screen appeared infront of my eyes!"

"What’s happening! Am I going crazy!?"

Many of the people in the warehouse started to experience a weird phenomenon about a blue screen appearing in their vision, suprising many of the people that still didn’t see the notification. However, they could tell that something definetly happened, as their bodies felt a little strange.

"Look outside! The sky is clearing!"

"Is it over? Is the Apocalpyse over?"

The man who didn’t believe in Zoey looked around, confused. There was no way right? The Apocalpyse? Actually over? Have these people lost their minds? He shot up to say something, but before he could, many people rushed towards the doors and quickly opened them, seeing the new world before them.

The destruction of the city was still evident, however, the bright sun and the clear sky filled them with joy as many rejoiced upon seeing the world restored to it’s former glory.

Many people bowled out in tears, others hugged each other, the monsters were gone, the threat was lost, but questions still lingered.

How is Zoey? Is she still alive?

And especially....

What were the swirling lights infront of them, pulsing with a strange energy. Upon seeing the Dungeon entrance, many people were terrified as they didn’t know what it was, as these were one of the signs of the apocalypse starting.

"It’s...not...over?" A voice asked, looking at the portal confused.

David didn’t pay the chatter of the people in mind, he had somewhere to go to, fast. He quickly climbed into one of the jeeps that they used to drive here, climbing into the driver seat as he started the car immediately.

"Daddy...where are you going?" Celina asked, looking up at her father in confusion.

"I’m going to check up on Zoey, wait here, I’ll be right back." David said, about to drive.

"Wait! Take us with you!" Lana asked, running up to the car.

David looked at his daughters with a sigh, he knew that they too wanted to see if Zoey was okay, and urgently wanted to come with him. Their faces showed that they wouldn’t take no for an answer, so he couldn’t help but willingly surrender.

"Alright, get in." David said.

Lana and Celina exploded with joy as they quickly got into the car, and they drove off, speeding towards the mansion grounds.

David’s heart raced as he drove, he seriously hoped that Zoey was still alive and that nothing bad happened to her, as he was forever grateful to her for saving his life, and more importantly, the lives of his daughters.

"Please...be alive." David muttered, his voice cracking slightly.

-----------

They arrived at the mansion grounds, and they were surprised not to find a single body of a zombie or monster anywhere. David quickly started looking for Zoey, and his eyes widened immediately as he spotted her lying on the ground, unconscious.

"ZOEY!!!" He yelled in shock, jumping out of his car as he urgently ran towards her.
