Volume 15 Chapter 4: A Surprise For The Parents

"Persimmon jam." Alfia's eyes were locked on the delicious blue jar. Out of the group, she quite liked the fruit's taste. She could eat it consistently since her mana capacity was huge.

The others stared at the other jams with relish.

Keith rolled his eyes as his lips curved upwards. “Yes, yes. Now let’s go package them up.” Besides cooking it, packaging was required. A bunch of ornaments appeared on the table.

“You’re prepared for everything, huh?”

“Do we have to do this?” Herrick grumbled as he just wanted to eat the jar himself.

"Of course, you’re handing it to your parents. You’ll need to make it presentable.” Despite his words,

"I'm eating it for myself!" "Yeah!"

"..." So selfish. Why does their greed spike when it comes to food? I'm not starving you guys. Despite their words, they followed with decorating the jar.

“Good, say so myself.” Carolyn marveled at her work. A silver and cute ribbon was tied to the top of the jar.

“Eri did well?” Eri raised her jar, which was filled with ribbons and tiny gems. Keith patted, “Mmhmm. It's adorable.”

"Here." The jar was directed to him.

"Hmm?"

"For daddy."

"..." Keith stared at her in a daze.

"Did I hear someone's heart skipping a beat?" Scarlet jeered.

"Cough, Cough." Keith coughed before hugging Eri, "Thank you so much, Eri. I will give you this." Keith handed over one of his jars to her. He couldn't let the girl lose one.

"Thank you!"

The next day, Keith headed over to the section to set up. As he grilled, “Everyone, I won’t be here for two months! I’ll be heading back to my city!” The moment he had said this,

“What?”

“For two months!”

“Boss, that’s way too long!”

Two months was quite long! How could he spring this up out of the blue?! That was when Keith added, “There's no need to fret. Diana will be replacing me while I go on vacation.” The great spirit of nature was a perfect substitute.

“...”

“We’re going to miss your cooking, Child.” Virel and Arolina came together. This was the same with Thalia and Julius. The two couples were having a little double date.

"Ahh, you don't have to worry about anything. Your children prepared something for you." The moment that was said, the parents locked onto their children, “Dear, what do you have?”

“...” Carolyn looked away, not daring to look at her parents. Julius and Thalia continued to stare at her.

Muriel raised a box full of jars, “Father, Mother, these are for you. I made jam at Keith’s home to bring back as a gift.” She didn’t hide it at all.

A smile formed on Virel's face as he patted his daughter's head, "Thank you so much." They tasted the condiment when they visited Keith's mansion. However, the jam his daughter made would taste even more special.

“...” That’s what's supposed to happen. A happy family that loves one another. The same couldn't be said on the other side; two people continued to stare at their daughter. They probably continued until she broke. Now that the item was on full display, it was time to get some answers.

“Daughter, were you going to hide this from us the entire time?” That smile on the king's face said everything you need to know. One princess shivered in place, "Of course not, Father! I made a bottle for you and mother." She quickly pulled out two jars of jam.

"...Only two?" Julius glanced at his one jar and then at Virel, who had six in his arms. The math didn't check out. Where did the other four go?

"Y-yes. I only made two jars of jam." Sweat slowly trickled from her forehead.

"..." Thalia could only hold her forehead. Like father, like daughter. These two are so greedy for food.

“Aunty, please take this.” Keith then handed over a bag. Inside, there was more jam.

"Keith, there's no need for you to do this." Thalia was taken aback. Even though she looked displeased, she was okay with one jar.

"It's fine, Aunty. I accounted for you." Sophia and Thalia. He made extra for the two. Sophia was obvious. Thalia was like a second mother figure to him; she always acted kind and sweet towards him.

“Keith.” Thalia smiled as she patted his head, “At least my son-in-law is thoughtful.” She glanced at her daughter; her eyes were daggers stabbing at her daughter. However, Carolyn glanced away, trying to get out of it by whistling.

Julius muttered, “What about me?!” Thalia was the only one who got a jar from him!

“Because Aunty is kind.”

“And I’m not?!”

“No.” Keith shook his head, “Almost all the other times, you just ask me for food.” There was a difference between them.

“...”
