Volume 14 Chapter 50: The Final
Keith and the others were brought to an open field a few days later. Aidiun explained, "For the finals, you'll all be alone. Please head into your own room; your proctor will come and administer your test. Please have your weapons out as well."
"Understood." Keith looked at the others, "Good luck, you guys."
"Mmhmm!" "You too." Everyone headed into their room. When Keith entered, "Wait a minute, it's one of these rooms?" Recollections started to fill his mind; this was not the first time he entered here. The entrance exams he took; the final exam was against Cadmus and he blasted fire in front of his face. It was still fresh in his mind; that smoke from his hair made it too difficult to forget. If they're making us stay inside her, don't tell me...
Herrick continued to have a grin as he sat in the middle of this white room. He was working out, pumping his muscles, preparing himself. That was when someone entered the room.
"Instructor Tennol? You're going to be my proctor?"
"Mmhmm." She raised her blade, "You'll be facing me in one-on-one combat."
“Eh?” Herrick’s eyes widened when he heard, “I’m going to be facing you?!” His dumbfounded expression displayed how unexpected this situation was.
"Draw your sword." Before the lion had the chance to take it out, a sword came flying at his face! He quickly ducked down, but what he faced next was a knee!
Right in the face.
The lion was sent rolling on the ground. However, he quickly got back into rhythm as he stared.
So we're going to do it like this?
Unsheathing his blade, he dashed at the instructor. The swords clashed with one another, and yet...only one person was sent flying. Herrick's eyes widened, clearly in disbelief at this situation.
He was sent flying again. He had been defeated a couple of times. However, it was more due to technique. However, he had never been sent flying like this! There was recoil, which he could control, but not this time.
A battle of strength. He never expected to be overpowered!
Tennol stood there with a calm countenance. Her body didn't even move from the two's clash, “What’s the matter? Is that all you have?”
“I’m not done!” Herrick charged forward again, which was the same result: he was beaten in two blows! One blow instantly made the lion drop his weapon while the other sent him to the ground! It was such an absurd feeling.
The lion was baffled by this. Herrick glanced up. It wasn't Tennol there; a giant unmoving mountain stood before him.
“Do you think you can face me with all these half-measures?” Tennol frowned.
She's right. Herrick had forgotten who she was. Being an instructor was only one of Tennol's titles. Her original title was that of the demon general. Her power alone sends shivers throughout the other kingdoms.
Herrick got up, “Awrgh!” I have to go all out! There was no need to hold back against her. Not when there was a beast before him!
“Good.” Tennol grinned as she clashed with the lion. With the suddenly added strength, the fight was somewhat manageable. The instructor grinned, "Good instincts for not fully beastifing." The lion hadn't gone full beast mode.
"I can't have my mind blurred out when I'm up against you." Tennol was not only strong but was also smart. She could easily take advantage of his weak points when he beastified.
There was no need to hold back against her. While the two battled, the others weren't faring well either.
"Hah." Faelyn was out of breath; her legs slowly wobbled as she stared at her opponent. But what she saw was only fireworks. Multiple fireballs came flying at her, and she quickly dodged them and created earth walls to cover. However, it was not enough, as each wall was blown to smithereens!
"Student Faelyn, are you going to continue like this? Running away with your tail tucked in." Faelyn raised her spear to try to slash them, but that was the wrong move; it blew up on her face. Each fireball was packed with firepower. Each one was enough to cause her to be sent flying back.
She stared at the professor,
Unfazed. Even after using so much power, there wasn’t nothing at all; this was something that would not do so.
“You're not the only one facing an instructor.” One by one, each S-class student was facing off against a professor. This was something that was devised on the fly.
