A Core Ship From The Start -
Chapter 587 - Chapter 587 Chapter 431 Whos Afraid of Who_1
Chapter 587: Chapter 431: Who’s Afraid of Who?_1 Chapter 587: Chapter 431: Who’s Afraid of Who?_1 It must be said, the actions of this Blasphemous Artifact were incredibly swift.
When Duanmu Huai rushed back to the Hammer of Steel using the elevator, everything before him had completely transformed. What had seemed like a peaceful supply warehouse when he’d departed was now a scene of gore and dismemberment, strewn with mutated entities who had met the same fate.
“Aaaaaahhh!”
Before the elevator could even stop completely, a howl echoed out as a mutated creature abruptly flung open the elevator doors, screaming and flailing its sharp claws at Duanmu Huai. However, Duanmu Huai nonchalantly stretched out his hands, grabbing the creature’s thrashing claws. With a fierce twist, he ripped the claws from the creature’s body, then fiercely jabbed it back at the creature itself!
The claw penetrated the creature’s body effortlessly, propelling both it and the one behind it directly into the wall.
Duanmu Huai calmly stepped out of the elevator, his gaze coldly watching the army of mutated creatures before him. He then opened his mouth to let out an enraged roar.
“Get lost———-!!!”
Along with Duanmu Huai’s bellowing roar, an incomparable Fearful Aura, brimming with destruction and death, exploded from him, instantly engulfing the entire ship. Even Ann, who was standing behind him, felt like her heart had been struck with a mighty hammer upon hearing his roar, making her feel dizzy. Moreover, through her eyes, Duanmu Huai started to appear increasingly colossal. His already towering form was now even more monstrous and terrifying, as if he were a beast ceaselessly lunging and baring its claws, attempting to rip her apart!
And it wasn’t just Ann – everyone aboard the ship felt as if they’d been thrown into a deep sea, on the verge of suffocation!
Luckily, Duanmu Huai reabsorbed his Fearful Aura immediately afterward, and Ann, having spent a significant amount of time with Duanmu Huai, managed to barely recover her senses–her resistance had also gradually increased.
“Phew…… Sir Knight, your move is becoming more and more frightening.”
Patting her chest, Ann also emerged from the elevator, her eyes nervously scanning her surroundings.
“Those monsters…are they dead?”
“They were already dead to begin with.”
Duanmu Huai shook his head, turning his gaze towards Ann.
“You and Ogis go back to the bridge first. I’m afraid that Greiya and Lani can’t hold back the tide alone.”
“You’re going to face the Blasphemous Artifact alone, Sir Knight?”
“This is not like the ground; it will be troublesome if it manages to sneak attack us. You go secure the core area with the bridge crew, leave the rest to me.”
Although Duanmu Huai wasn’t worried about Lani, he was more concerned about Greiya. Given Greiya’s gentle nature, and considering that the Blasphemous Artifact seemed more prone to mental attacks, Duanmu Huai, fortified by his Fearful Aura, could resist its mental offenses. However, he wasn’t sure if Greiya could do the same.
Therefore, in consideration of the typical sisterly bonds or ties depicted in Japanese anime and games, it would be safer to have Ann stay and protect Greiya.
“Alright.”
Ann didn’t protest. On one hand, she was indeed worried about Greiya. On the other, she was aware of her limits–as a Mage, she was better at taking action from the rear, rather than leading a frontal attack. Despite not being strong, these monsters were fast, and the narrow corridors in the cabin didn’t help. If she got ambushed from behind…she wouldn’t even stand a chance to fight back.
So Ann nodded and hurriedly departed with Ogis towards the direction of the bridge. Meanwhile, Duanmu Huai put away his War Hammer and drew his Chainsaw Sword from behind.
“Buzz———-!!”
Accompanied by an intense revving sound and a hum vibrating through his hands, Duanmu Huai cracked a fierce grin.
His favourite moment had arrived!
“Greiya!!!”
When Ann and Ogis hastily made their way back to the bridge, they found the place in ruins. Most of the crew who were operating the warship had been felled, and mutated fragments were scattered haphazardly around. Greiya was standing there, covered in blood, her gaze locked intently ahead.
Noticing Ann and Ogis had returned, Greiya too sighed in relief.
“Ann, are you okay?”
“I’m okay, what about you, Greiya? Are you hurt?”
“No, but these creatures are really tricky to fight… Lani and I are struggling to hold them off…”
Saying this, Greiya shook her head in frustration. Initially, they had intended to aim for the creature’s vital parts, but these monsters completely ignored such attacks. Even piercing their brains and hearts failed to bring them down. This forced Greiya to use her Dragon Roar and Dragon Breath abilities for combat, and Lani even had to employ her Moonlight Greatsword… Overall, although it was a bit alarmed, they had succeeded in protecting the bridge.
“Speaking of which, where’s Sir Knight?”
“Sir Knight has gone after the Blasphemous Artifact alone…”
“Is that alright? These creatures seem really difficult to handle…”
“I think… it should be alright?”
As it so happened, Duanmu Huai was more than alright at this point.
Or rather, he was having a blast.
“Buzz———-!!”
The rapidly spinning Chainsaw Sword showed no mercy as it tore apart the mutated entity in front of it, splitting it in half. Then Duanmu Huai took a large step forward and swung down the butcher knife in his hand at another mutated entity.
That was the feeling!
Feeling the sensation of tearing apart flesh and severing bones transmitted from his hand, Duanmu Huai’s eyes became hotter. This was one of the reasons he liked to take matters into his own hands – the feeling of personally destroying, killing, ending all life, devouring their souls, burning them, and reducing them to nothingness! At this moment, he seemed to be the supreme being of this world, and the existence or non-existence of all things depended on his will!
“Roar!!!!”
Just as Duanmu Huai broke through another door, a tall mutated entity suddenly appeared from the side, lunging at him. But Duanmu Huai merely shrugged his shoulder, dodging a sharp blade that had grazed past his ear. He swung back with his sword, severing the mutant’s legs and leaving it to topple to the ground.
However, that creature evidently didn’t give up. It thrusted forward, Its body, despite losing both legs, lunged forward like a fish, while its two foreclaws turned into blades aiming for Duanmu Huai’s head. Duanmu Huai easily avoided the attack, circled around to stand behind the mutant, and raised his foot, stomping down fiercely!
“Boom! Boom! Boom!”
Under Duanmu Huai’s ruthless stamping, the mutated entity before him became a mound of bloody, indistinguishable remains in the blink of an eye. He then turned around and continued on his way.
For Duanmu Huai, the mutated entities he encountered along the way were not an obstacle. Moreover, Duanmu Huai could feel an intriguing divine power aura emanating from the tail end of this ship – no wonder, after all his own aura had enveloped the entire warship at this point. Every deity has a distinct and singular aura, much like how different people produce different scents when they pass gas because of the different foods they eat.
Well… more or less.
At present, Duanmu Huai had a decent guess as to the specific power characteristics of this Blasphemous Artifact and its deity.
It should mainly have psychic control capabilities, being able to control completely dead life forms… Hm, the Plague God would not get along with it, but the Obsessive Sin might quite like it.
“Click…”
Just as Duanmu Huai entered a corridor, suddenly the steel door opened, and Ann’s figure emerged from it. At this moment, Ann was covered in blood, gravely injured.
She raised her head to look at Duanmu Huai.
“Ah, Sir Knight, something terrible happened, Greiya… Greiya suddenly attacked us, I …”
But before Ann could finish her words, Duanmu Huai swung out his sword without hesitation. The spinning Chainsaw Sword effortlessly cut Ann’s slender waist into two parts. The young girl then, maintaining her posture of pleading for help, spun and flew backwards, falling to the ground. Even so, the young girl looked up in surprise at Duanmu Huai, raising her hands as if wanting to say something to him.
At this moment, however, Duanmu Huai’s foot stomped down hard without mercy.
“Bang!”
The next moment, the girl trembled, and then turned into an illusion and disappeared, replaced by the wreckage of a mutated entity.
“Trying to deceive with an illusion of such level? You underestimate me too much.”
Duanmu Huai’s actions didn’t pause for even a moment, his heart not perturbed in the slightest, he even felt somewhat amused. It is evident that a Blasphemous Artifact is merely a Blasphemous Artifact, although it possesses a certain level of self-consciousness, its intelligence is extremely limited, likely on par with artificial stupidity. Even though he likes Ann, it doesn’t mean he becomes susceptible in front of all women, right?
His subsequent encounters further confirmed this point.
Aside from Ann, one by one, girls he recognized appeared in front of him, using various excuses in hopes of stopping his advancement.
What left Duanmu Huai most speechless was that Leia was among them——the stupid Blasphemous Artifact probably had no idea why Leia had a good relationship with him, it might have randomly picked someone from his mind to manifest.
What if it were someone else? For example, what happens if he thinks of this……?
“Save me……!”
As expected, the moment Duanmu Huai’s thoughts turned, he saw a sheep turning around the corner, running toward him, and then……he split it in two with a direct sword strike.
Phew, that felt good, he had done something even Big Big Wolf hadn’t been able to do. It was exhilarating.
From this, it’s evident that this Blasphemous Artifact is indeed an artificial fool.
“Clang!”
As Duanmu Huai cut through another corridor and entered a rest area, suddenly, the locker next to him shook. Duanmu Huai turned his head to look at the locker, he opened the door, and saw a cute little girl he’d never seen before huddled inside, gazing at him anxiously.
“You… who are you? Big brother… Daddy… Where’s mommy? What’s happening here?”
The teary-eyed little girl viewed Duanmu Huai with such frailty that it would melt the heart of any tough guy. Duanmu Huai was no exception. He put down the weapon in his hands, reached out, and gently picked up the girl. Then… his fingers suddenly tightened, ripping her apart!
“Whoosh——!!”
Just in the blink of an eye, several tentacle-like things burst out from the girl’s body, reaching out to grab Duanmu Huai’s face. However, they only got halfway before slumping down weakly. Then, the formerly cute girl in Duanmu Huai’s hand became a strange, hideous, baby-like mutant.
“Hmph, just as I thought.”
Duanmu Huai looked at the monster torn in half in his hands, he snorted coldly and threw it away.
What a joke, the girl didn’t cry when she saw her own face?
This one was no ordinary child. He had to strike hard!
