Chapter 1247 - Chapter 1247 Chapter 843 Dark Race

Chapter 1247: Chapter 843: Dark Race Chapter 1247: Chapter 843: Dark Race In the end, Duanmu Huai couldn’t hold out any longer and explained part of the situation–of course, he concealed the fact that his avatar in that world was a young girl, and as for the parts he really couldn’t clarify… luckily Lumiaire had a sharp mind, and after her explanation, the girls finally got somewhat of an understanding.

“It turned out to be sixty years spent together in the future…”

Ann nodded in agreement.

“It really is wonderful; time can also be used like that, I want to try it too.”

“You better not try, it would be troublesome if you can’t come back.”

Duanmu Huai didn’t have the ability to control time; his traveling to the past and future was completely initiated by the system, he didn’t have the capability to time travel himself.

“But, Mr. Knight, didn’t you mention that Chaldea has that technique called… Spirit Particle Conversion?”

“That’s a tool used for transferring to anomaly points, not for time traveling.”

The Spirit Particle Conversion of Chaldea was actually about using anomaly points as anchors, throwing out a beam of spirit particles to connect to it, and then transporting people there. It only felt like traveling to the past or future because anomaly points lie on the timeline, but it wasn’t really that at all–if there isn’t an anomaly point, there’s no going back.

“That so… how boring…”

After hearing Duanmu Huai’s explanation, Ann was somewhat speechless.

“I thought I could return to the past and then play around with you, Mr. Knight, for a hundred years.”

“I’d love that too… if only such a good thing were real…”

Duanmu Huai silently rolled his eyes. If he really had such an ability, why wouldn’t he find a secluded corner to hide for a few hundred years…

“Alright, alright, if there’s nothing else, go back to whatever you were doing.”

“Okay…!”

After hearing Duanmu Huai’s words, the others naturally went back to their respective homes to carry on with their activities. However, just as Duanmu Huai took another sip of his coffee, intending to continue reviewing his documents, a knock sounded at the door, followed by Mary entering once more.

“What is it, Mary?”

“It’s like this, Mr. Duanmu…”

Hesitating for a moment in front of Duanmu Huai’s inquiry, Mary asked:

“I would like to ask, within the jurisdiction of the Tribunal, do vampires and werewolves count as… Alien Creatures?”

“Huh? What happened?”

“Actually… during a mission I was performing…”

Under Duanmu Huai’s puzzled gaze, Mary recounted the events she experienced.

As mentioned before, Mary’s world was one where Cthulhu Evil God Cosmos Race creatures roamed the streets, and Duanmu Huai, when he was an investigator in that world, had encountered similar situations more than once. After returning to the Tribunal, the world’s affairs were left to the maid monster and Mary. Since Mary possessed the Golden Pupil, and also had honed her abilities at Faelun, coupled with the enhancement of the Tribunal, dealing with some common monsters was essentially no problem.

However, what troubled Mary was a recent request from a special department — as said before, there was an official investigation department in that world, although they seldom appeared, mainly responsible for cleaning up after investigators or assisting investigations on certain cases that turned out to be supernatural phenomena.

It was a special department from Europe that approached her, hoping she would help handle an incident involving vampires and werewolves.

The problem was that the vampires and werewolves they encountered weren’t solitary individuals. According to the special department’s report, both vampires and werewolves were highly organized, and their numbers were at least several hundred, possibly even thousands.

Of course, the issue wasn’t the quantity, but that in that world, vampires and werewolves were mortal enemies, engaging in brawls wherever they met, regardless of time and place, whether in subway stations, hotels, parks–just brawling upon sight.

Just fighting would be one thing, but these monsters were disturbingly modern–grenades, shotguns, automatic rifles firing, fighting like it’s a world war.

How could the government tolerate this?

Of course not.

But they were no match.

Vampires moved in the darkness, nearly impossible to find, and werewolves’ infectivity was very strong; moreover, these creatures were elusive, you obviously can’t announce on TV that vampires and werewolves are fighting and we’re going to round them up, so please, ordinary citizens, stay safe at home.

In reality, these conflicts between vampires and werewolves were often disguised as gang shootouts by the authorities.

But you can’t have gang shootouts happening everywhere.

What would the state of national security be in that case?

And Mary had been invited to go.

Resulting in her directly getting beaten till she fled in panic–the other side simply didn’t fight with any sense of honor, just shooting with automatic rifles, Mary alone couldn’t withstand the attack from so many vampires and werewolves; not fleeing would have gotten her killed early.

But Mary wasn’t foolish. I can’t beat them alone, but can’t I call for reinforcements?

So Mary came back to call on people.

The only problem was she wasn’t sure whether vampires and werewolves counted as Alien Creatures under the Tribunal’s jurisdiction… which was why she came to seek guidance from Duanmu Huai.

Because Mary remembered that Bambi was a vampire too, but she ran around the Tribunal without anyone caring…

“Vampires and werewolves, huh…”

After listening to Mary’s description, Duanmu Huai pondered for a moment.

“Do they transform?”

“Ah, yes.”

While speaking, Mary opened her personal terminal and then displayed a video, in which two groups of people could be seen confronting each other. Soon, the leader of one group opened his mouth and roared angrily. His mouth stretched quickly, his body became hairy all over, and his body swelled up, transforming into a huge werewolf in just moments.

On the other side, the blond man also twisted his body, and then a pair of wings emerged behind him, while his head also started to elongate and distort, turning into a monstrous creature with eerie features.

Well, at least they don’t look like humans.

“It’s not just these.”

Mary hesitated for a moment and continued.

“We have also received a request from the Far East, saying there is a group of humanoid cannibalistic creatures, similar to ghouls, rampaging in the city, needing to be eliminated…”

This is where Mary’s issue lies; these humanoid monsters, similar to humans in appearance, make her uncertain if it’s correct to classify them as alien creatures.

“Of course.”

However, in contrast to Mary’s doubt, Duanmu Huai’s response was very calm.

“Their existence poses a threat to humanity itself and could even endanger the survival of humans. In fact, compared to alien creatures, these internal mutants are more dangerous. Therefore, they must be completely eliminated, not one left!”

“But isn’t Miss Bambi a vampire too?”

“She isn’t contagious, and her skull doesn’t mutate, so she’s safe.”

Duanmu Huai shrugged his shoulders.

“Remember, whether the skull can mutate is always the only criterion for the Tribunal to judge whether or not someone is human. If Bambi could transform and elongate her face like those vampires, I would have killed her long ago.”

While he spoke, Duanmu Huai pondered for a moment.

“Alright, this time I will lead a fleet to your place to completely eliminate these freaks.”

“Do we need to deploy the fleet?”

It must be said, hearing Duanmu Huai’s decision made Mary jump–she certainly knew how powerful the Tribunal’s fleet was.

“Actually, compared to alien creatures and demons, these beings are the toughest to deal with.”

Duanmu Huai spoke while tossing the documents he held to one side.

“On one hand, they possess great strength, far exceeding normal humans. On the other hand, they pose a hazard to humans themselves–you must have heard plenty of stories about vampires and werewolves.”

Mary nodded; these were well-known legends.

“Horse Maidens don’t drink human blood or turn others into Horse Maidens, neither do girl Demon Beasts; their existence does not contaminate human genes and they’re considered a controllable danger among the subhuman races. But vampires and werewolves are different; they can secretly transform humans through various means, contaminating the pure genes of humanity, converting them into inferior alien beings. Such heretic actions must not be allowed and must be stopped and eradicated.”

In fact, by the standards of the Tribunal, Horse Maidens and girl Demon Beasts are classified as safe subhuman races, whereas Elves, similar to devils and demons, are considered subhuman races that can contaminate human genes.

After conducting tests on the Horse Maidens and other girl Demon Beasts, it’s found that if a Horse Maiden mates with a human, the male offspring are always human, while the female offspring are always Horse Maidens; there are no hybrids. Similarly, other girl Demon Beasts can also only give birth to girl Demon Beasts, not hybrids.

From this aspect, these races at least ensure gene purity.

But Elves are different; Elf-human hybrids produce Half-elves, just as human hybrids with demons and devils produce Taiflin. By the standards of the Tribunal, both Half-elves and Taiflin are considered impure, weakened sub-species resulting from contaminated human genes.

Strictly speaking, Taiflin are a bit more severe, clear for cleansing on sight, whereas Half-elves are still within an acceptable range–at least they are not cleansed immediately on sight.

In Arkham City, owned by the Tribunal in the Faelun World, they strictly follow this procedure–humans are allowed in, Elves and Half-elves are allowed under consideration, Dwarves may enter depending on the situation, but Taiflin or Dark Elves, upon sighting them, just open fire.

What? You say that there might be good Taiflin and Dark Elves out there?

What does that have to do with me? The Tribunal’s duty is to protect humans, not justice.

Do you understand the concept of human supremacy?

“Of course, the trickiest part is that they can use human language, human expressions, and interact with humans.”

Duanmu Huai snorted coldly, looking at Mary.

“If a ghastly girl as big as Bambi with wounds all over, crying in front of you said she didn’t want to die, would you have the heart to let her go?”

“Uh……”

Mary suddenly found herself at a loss for words; honestly, she absolutely couldn’t bring herself to harm a child.

“But in cutting down the weed, the roots must be removed. To the Tribunal, these are just disguises of those monsters, whether vampires, werewolves, ghouls, or any other monsters. No matter how human-like they appear, their nature is still monstrous–they are killers, man-eaters, remember this is important. It is their nature, just like a young lion, cute as it may be, you cannot persuade it to eat grass instead of meat.”

At this point, Duanmu Huai clenched his fist.

“Therefore, even if it is an infant, the Tribunal will not hesitate to eliminate it.”

“………”

Hearing Duanmu Huai speak, Mary turned pale and swallowed hard.

“Any more questions?”

“So…….when do we leave?”

Mary placed her hand on her chest and took a deep breath, feeling her heart pounding. As an educated young woman, Duanmu Huai’s remarks were truly shocking; even though Mary had already known about the Tribunal’s stance, seeing everything so candidly still made her feel…nervous and uneasy.

“The sooner the better, how about now? I also want to get some physical activity anyway.”

Duanmu Huai stood up and stretched, tired of signing documents at his desk since his return to the Tribunal.

It was time for him to go and crush a few skulls to relieve some stress.
