Chapter 64: Sister Gwen

After the training competition ended, the next two days were the much-anticipated weekend rest days for the students.

On Saturday, nearly all the students chose to go to the bedmaker to retrieve their opticomputers. Then, they contacted their family and friends.

Arix also went to the bedmaker and got back her opticomputer. In addition to the one she won from Drexel in the bet, Arix now had two opticomputers.

However, since Drexel’s opticomputer was a bit shady, Arix decided not to use it and instead hid it in her Space Button.

But Arix was overjoyed to see her own opticomputer, treating it like a long-lost girlfriend, even giving it a little kiss.

As for who to contact first?

Arix had already decided—it had to be Sister Gwen and the seven little darlings!

After returning to the dorm with the opticomputer, Arix found that her roommates were all having video calls with their own friends and family. Everyone was considerate enough not to disturb each other.

Arix walked quietly to her bed, sat down, and started contacting Sister Gwen.

First, Arix turned on the opticomputer. Her fingers swiped down the virtual screen for a while before finding Sister Gwen’s contact icon. Arix tapped the video call button.

The ringing didn’t last long. Sister Gwen, far away on Planet Waste, quickly answered the call.

Seeing the familiar, kind face on the 3D virtual screen, Arix beamed and sweetly called out, "Sister, it’s me, Arix."

"I knew! Arix! How was training? Were you good? Did you hurt yourself? Was it tough?" Sister Gwen asked with concern.

Arix patiently answered each question.

Sister Gwen was delighted by the answers but then sighed a bit, saying, "Arix, tell your mom not to send me more stuff. The storage is already full."

In fact, Fleur’s packages were just fine, but Sister Gwen was used to being frugal, so she couldn’t bear to use most of the things, and they just kept piling up.

Arix’s eyes sparkled with amusement. Pretending to be troubled, she said, "But if Mom doesn’t send stuff, she’ll be upset. What should we do? Sister, maybe you could work on using up some of the stuff in the storage?"

Sister Gwen saw right through Arix’s little trick and chuckled, "I’m not senile yet, you little rascal. Fine, fine, let her send what she wants. I will just enjoy it for once."

"That’s the right way to think. We’re not around to take care of you. If you don’t even care about yourself, we’ll be so worried," Arix said, her tone full of affection.

"Here we go, you and your endless reasoning. I can’t win against you," Sister Gwen said with a teasing smile.

"That’s because what I say makes sense!" Arix replied with a playful hum, feeling quite pleased with herself.

Then Arix remembered that she hadn’t seen the seven little ones today and asked with some confusion, "Sister, where are the kids? Why haven’t I seen them today?"

"They’re still in class next door," Sister Gwen replied, her tone softening as she talked about the children.

"That’s fine, studying matters most. I’ll see them next time." Arix continued chatting with Sister Gwen for a while longer before ending the video call.

Arix spent the rest of the morning video chatting with her family. When her roommates went to the cafeteria for lunch, Arix hesitated for a moment before clicking on the icon for her puppy friend.

In no time, the 3D virtual screen lit up, and Cassian’s voice came through.

"Arix, how have you been lately?" Cassian asked with concern.

"Not good. The training is tough and exhausting, and there are no fluffy creatures to cuddle," Arix complained, hinting at something.

"Poor you. Why don’t you come to the Empire? I’ll take care of you, and you can cuddle with me," Cassian joked, but there was a hint of seriousness in his tone.

Arix burst out laughing at his words. "You don’t have to sell yourself like that."

"So, will you come?" Cassian asked hopefully, as if he had a tail, it would be wagging.

"No, I actually like the Alliance. How about you come to the Alliance? I’ll take care of you. I can groom you and give you massages every day. What do you think? Want to consider it?" Arix said, raising an eyebrow playfully.

"I’d love to, but I can’t leave the Empire right now. Unless you’re not afraid of being chased, how about we elope together?" Cassian’s eyes sparkled with excitement.

Hearing the word "chased," Arix’s smile froze. She suddenly remembered that the guy on the other end was the crown prince of the Empire. If she really ran off with the future Alpha, it wouldn’t just be a matter of being chased. There could be a full-blown war between the Alliance and the Empire.

The more she thought about it, the more horrifying it seemed. Arix shuddered and quickly said with righteous conviction, "Cassian, we are the pillars of the Empire and the Alliance’s future. We can’t abandon our responsibilities for our own needs! That would be wrong!"

Arix’s passionate speech left Cassian stunned. But thinking about his countless citizens, he realized Arix was right.

"Arix, you’re right. I was being narrow-minded," Cassian admitted seriously.

"It’s okay. Admitting your mistakes and correcting them is the greatest good," Arix said, breathing a sigh of relief as she realized she had successfully talked Cassian out of his crazy idea.

Inwardly, she patted herself on the back. She had just preserved the peace between the Empire and the Alliance!

"Your Highness, Your Majesty is looking for you," the voice of the Minister of Internal Affairs suddenly sounded outside Cassian’s room.

"You should go," Arix said considerately, not waiting for Cassian to speak first.

"Alright, Arix, goodbye," Cassian said reluctantly.

"Goodbye," Arix replied before ending the video call.

Staring at the darkened screen, she felt her stomach rumble with hunger. Deciding not to contact anyone else for now, Arix got up and headed to the cafeteria.

After eating, she returned to her dorm and started watching a live stream by a mecha maker.

As usual, Arix couldn’t help herself when she got excited or saw something interesting during the stream. She showered the streamer with gifts, causing her support to flood the chat. Before she knew it, Arix had become the top supporter for several novice mecha builders.
