Chapter 62: The Ultimate Plan
Arix enjoyed showing off, but she regretted it later. She wished she hadn’t said anything to Drexel.
After dealing with the third badge point, Arix wanted to give up. But she had already bragged to Drexel.
So, she had to keep trying.
Arix sighed deeply and looked at the fourth badge point on the card.
This badge point was behind the training base.
Arix saw many dirty, injured students coming from the badge point. Her throat felt tight, and she swallowed nervously, scared as she watched each student walk by.
The more she looked, the more frightened she felt. ’Why is a simple competition so dangerous? Why are they looking at me with pitiful gaze?’
Arix felt like crying. She looked away, afraid she would lose the courage to move forward if she kept looking.
The closer she got to the badge point, the more numb she felt.
When she finally reached the badge point and saw the grinning instructor, Arix wore a blank, emotionless face.
"Hey, another one! Don’t look so serious. Don’t worry, this is going to be easy for you," the instructor said with a smile.
If she hadn’t seen all those injured students, she might have believed him.
Later, she realized that the instructors who smiled the most were usually the toughest.
"You just need to walk up this path to the top of the hill. There, you’ll find the guy with the badge. See? Simple," the instructor said sincerely, his face looking honest.
No wonder so many students came here! They must have been fooled by his Oscar-worthy performance, thinking this one was easy
Arix nodded coldly and started up the hill.
The path was eerie and quiet, with only a few crows cawing, making it feel like night.
Arix stayed alert, watching her surroundings.
"Bang!"
"Ouch! It hurt!" Arix gasped in pain as she held her head; she had been hit by a rock.
Before she could check around, more rocks flew at her.
"Damn! Can’t you just wait for a sec?" Arix yelled. She quickly put up a psychic power shield to block the rocks and sighed in relief.
But it would take at least two hours to reach the top, and she couldn’t keep her psychic power up that long.
Arix thought for a moment and started calling Vita in the psychic world.
"Vita, can you help me knock away these stones?" Arix asked.
"Sure," Vita agreed without hesitation.
"I can help too!" Cupid said eagerly, not wanting to be left out.
Arix didn’t want Cupid’s help because Cupid used too much psychic power, even though his attacks were the strongest. She wanted to save her psychic power, so she chose Vita instead of using the psychic power shield.
But she didn’t want to say this directly to Cupid. After thinking for a moment, Arix said gently, "Cupid, let Vita handle the simple things. I’ll call you when it gets tough, okay?"
Cupid, feeling proud as if he was stronger, blushed and nodded. "Okay, Arix. Just call me if you need me."
"No problem," Arix said, relieved, and promised cheerfully.
After calming Cupid, Arix instructed Vita to knock away the attacking stones. Then she quickly ran towards the top of the hill.
Along the way, besides stones, there were deep pits on the ground, choking ropes from above, and various other traps...
After running halfway up the hill, she heard gunshots.
Arix skillfully dodged a few bullets and looked towards the source of the gunshots.
She saw a few figures quickly leaving.
Arix frowned. If she wasn’t mistaken, those people looked like soldiers from the Fifth Legion.
It seemed this badge point challenge was getting more interesting.
Meanwhile, a few Fifth Legion soldiers were discussing Arix.
"Sergeant, this kid is too strong! We can’t stop her at all."
"And her psychic power seems endless. We’ve been draining it for so long, but she’s not showing any signs of exhaustion."
"Yeah, she’s almost at the top. If this continues, we’ll be the first squad to be beaten by a student in history."
"Sergeant, what should we do next?"
The soldiers looked at their sergeant, waiting for his decision.
The sergeant listened to his team and was silent for a moment. Finally, he spoke with a determined and serious look, "It seems we have to initiate the ultimate plan!"
"What’s the ultimate plan? I don’t know about it."
"Yeah, sergeant, when did we get an ultimate plan?"
The soldiers were confused and asked their sergeant.
"The ultimate plan is..." The sergeant said mysteriously, looking at his teammates.
The sergeant suddenly opened his opticomputer. He operated it with a blank expression and said, "The ultimate plan is, of course, to call for backup. Only a fool would keep fighting a losing battle."
The Alliance soldiers were all speechless, watching their sergeant call for backup right in front of them, for the fear of a younger.
For some reason, they all felt like children who, unable to win a fight, had run home to call their brothers and sisters. It was a bit embarrassing, but they didn’t seem to have other options.
The backup arrived very quickly.
In less than three minutes, three young lieutenants silently appeared.
The leader was a young woman with a delicate face, but that pretty face seemed cold. The other two were also young, and they both seemed very dangerous.
When the soldiers and the sergeant saw the backup, they immediately saluted and shouted, "Sir!"
They seemed very respectful; they didn’t underestimate the young reinforcements because of their age.
The three lieutenants returned the salute. Then the only female, Rhea, spoke calmly, "Tell me, why did you call us?"
"Lieutenant, we had a top student. We couldn’t stop her, so we requested your support," the sergeant said, feeling a bit ashamed.
"Oh? Show me her file," Rhea said, her cold eyes showing a hint of interest.
"Yes, ma’am!" the sergeant said. Then he opened his opticomputer and projected Arix’s file as a hologram.
"Huh, it’s Arix. I’ve been wanting to meet her," Rhea said with a cold smile, her face becoming even colder, as if she had met an enemy.
The Alliance soldiers and the sergeant suddenly felt uneasy, as if they had unintentionally brought a serious enemy to Arix.
"Tane, Novak, let’s go!" Rhea said. Then the three of them rushed towards Arix’s location.
The remaining soldiers and the sergeant looked at each other, awkwardly. After a while, one of the soldiers hesitantly said, "I have a feeling this lieutenant wants to settle a personal score with Arix."
"You have a ’feeling’? That expression on her face was clear as day!" the sergeant sighed.
The soldiers exchanged glances. Then one of them curiously asked, "Sergeant, you know something about it, don’t you?"
"I just remembered," the sergeant said, rubbing his forehead, "Arix is the student who sent Captain Cantet to the hospital a few days ago. lieutenant Rhea is his sister, and she’s known for being very protective of him."
Hearing this, the soldiers immediately understood what was happening. They suddenly all felt sorry for Arix.
Meanwhile, Arix was nearing the mountaintop, but before she could celebrate, she suddenly stopped and looked warily in a certain direction.
"Vita, switch to Cupid," Arix thought.
"Okay," Vita said. The Psychic Incarnation around Arix changed to Cupid.
"Arix, where are the bad guys?" Cupid shook excitedly. To others, it looked like Arix was controlling psychic power that swirled around her.
"Just be careful. They’re already here," Arix said. As soon as she spoke, three high-ranking Alliance officers appeared in front of her.
"Are you Arix?" Rhea looked Arix up and down with disdain.
"Yes, I am. Who are you?" Arix asked, confused.
She had sensed a deep hostility even before these people arrived, which is why she had switched from Vita to Cupid. She expected to encounter insectoids, but instead, it was a strange young woman filled with intense hostility towards her.
"Hmph! As long as you’re Arix, that’s all that matters. I don’t want to accidentally hit the wrong person," Rhea said. Then she stopped paying attention to Arix and turned to her companions, "I can handle this alone. You two stay out of it."
Tane and Novak exchanged a glance and nodded, stepping back from the battlefield.
