Chapter 25: An Invasion

In the VIP box, Adrian frowned and said, "It’s been almost half an hour, when will it be the turn for the bio-mecha?"

Arix checked the opticomputer on the coffee table and comforted him, "Just three more events to go."

Cassian scrunched his brow, feeling an unexplainable sense of crisis urging him to leave with Arix, but looking down at the noisy auction below, he thought he might be overthinking it.

"Cassian, what’s wrong? Are you feeling okay?" Arix, noticing Cassian’s troubled expression, pulled him into a hug, concerned.

Cassian pursed his lips and just held onto Arix, silent.

He knew Arix was really looking forward to the last auction and didn’t want to disappoint her because of his own feelings.

After looking at Cassian for a while, Arix still felt worried and said to Cirilla, "Cirilla, Cassian feels unwell, I’m going to take him home."

"Arix, I’m fine, the bio-mecha is almost up. Let’s wait to see it before we leave," Cassian said, shaking his head reluctantly.

"Yeah, Arix, the next one is the exclusive mecha. It’s a pity to leave now," Cirilla also tried to persuade them.

But Arix, seeing Cassian’s pale face, could no longer care about the mecha. All she felt was worry. "No, let’s see it some other time."

"Alright then, you and Cassian head back first. Adrian, you escort Arix home. I’ll stay and handle the auction of the bio-mecha," Cirilla said.

She had the task of securing this Star-Class bio-mecha for her family. Thus, she could only ask Adrian to send them home.

"No problem." Adrian had already been impatient, so he agreed quickly.

Arix thanked Cirilla, then followed Adrian out of the box.

Outside the box, in a corner unnoticed by the three, a fist-sized wormhole was rapidly expanding.

From the depths of the hole, a dense, harsh buzzing of insectoids could be heard.

Back in the box not far from the wormhole, Cirilla was alone, intently watching the auction podium downstairs, oblivious to any anomaly.

Meanwhile, the atmosphere at the auction had reached its peak with the appearance of the bio-mecha.

People shouted and raised their bids frantically, unaware that danger was approaching.

Arix and Adrian exited the auction venue and reached the parking lot. Just when they were about to get into the car, a piercing alarm sounded from the auction hall.

"What’s happening?" Arix hadn’t figured out what was going on when Adrian, looking terrified, suddenly yelled, "Sis!"

Adrian then said hurriedly, turning pale, "Go ahead, Arix. I need to go back and save my sister!"

Without waiting for Arix’s response, he ran back toward the auction hall, too fast for Arix to stop him.

Arix’s expression darkened. Even though she didn’t know exactly what had happened, Adrian’s reaction told her that Cirilla was in danger.

"Arix, there might be a wormhole inside the auction hall," Cassian finally understood what that vague sense of crisis was.

After all, he had once fallen into a wormhole and survived by the skin of his teeth; he was not mistaken about that feeling.

"How could this be? This is the center of Hecaris," Arix’s face turned pale instantly.

Wormholes are narrow tunnels in the universe connecting two different times and spaces, inhabited by at least one Star-Class insectoid and countless Planet-Class or lower insectoids.

The appearance of such a wormhole in the planet’s center city could bring a disaster akin to the end of the world.

"Cassian, I need to go and block that wormhole. Stay in the car and don’t run around! Wait for me to come back," Arix put Cassian in the car and instructed firmly before she turned and ran toward the auction hall.

She came from a family of soldiers; she could not abandon ordinary people in danger, especially when a friend was inside.

Cassian reached out his hands, trying to stop Arix, but his short, chubby arms couldn’t even catch the edge of her coat as she turned.

Watching her running farther away, Cassian’s pupils suddenly contracted, and he yelled frantically, "Arix! Come back!"

Arix, who had already run into the auction hall, didn’t hear Cassian’s shouts amid the chaotic screams for help.

At that moment, she was running against the crowd into the auction hall.

Finally, she saw Cirilla and Adrian standing in front of the wormhole. They were releasing all their psychic powers to form a barrier, seemingly trying to block the wormhole.

But the wormhole was too large, and many insectoids were still escaping through the gaps.

Fortunately, there were some people that Arix could detect a military demeanor in front of the auction podium. They were also fighting desperately to prevent the insectoids from escaping the hall, tearing the insectoids that crawled out from the cracks.

Even Amara, who looked elegant and beautiful, was slashing insectoids with a dashing grace. However, the incessant attacks from the insectoids gradually made her struggle. It did not diminish her beauty; instead, it added a worn charm to her appearance.

The stunning sight of a beautiful woman in battle stirred up the blood of all the males present, and they showed no fear even in the face of the endlessly crawling out insectoids.

"I’d die here today and it’d still be worth it with Amara by my side. What do you say, Hank?" a man roared with bravado.

"Hah, I wonder if I could take Amara out for dinner after this is over?" Hank, somewhat familiar with Amara, didn’t forget to flirt with her even amidst the fight.

Amara responded with a charming smile and solemnly announced to everyone, "After this is over, I, Amara, will treat all the brave men here to a dinner party, and we won’t go home until we’re drunk as a skunk."

"Alright! Amara, you have my word. We’ll definitely get rid of the bugs and drink with you like a fish," Hank laughed heartily.

He then focused back on the incessant insectoids in front of him and roared, "Everyone, did you hear that? Lady Amara will take us to a party after this is over. How can you not give it your all? Charge!!"

"Go!"

"Kill them all!"

A resounding echo of agreement burst forth around him.

Some were struck down or even killed by the insectoids, but not a single person stepped back.

They understood that behind them were countless unarmed civilians. If they retreated and were defeated, allowing the insectoids a chance to escape, it would cause irreparable disaster to countless civilians outside.
