Chapter 225: Training Going On
So, in a twist of fate, they somehow ended up engaged, though it wasn’t exactly a smooth journey.
When Thaddeus and Fleur heard the news, their emotions were all over the place. It didn’t help when they saw Cassian’s mother on the screen, grinning like she just won the lottery. That sight sent a sharp twinge through their hearts.
Cassian, the Crown Prince of the Sacred Moonlight Empire, and Arix, who carried the title of the Hope of the Alliance were now officially engaged.
What seemed like a simple engagement was actually much more—a strategic move that tied the two most powerful nations in the galaxy together. This wasn’t just about a wedding; it was about the future of two superpowers, leaving everyone wondering how this new bond would play out.
Even though there was excitement in the air, the actual ceremony was still a good six months away.
While top officials from both the Empire and the Alliance were locked in heated debates over where the couple would stay, Arix and Cassian were reluctantly parting ways at the special training base’s entrance.
As the Empire’s Crown Prince, Cassian couldn’t stick around the Alliance for long. After wrapping up his tasks, he was set to return home. He had hoped to bring Arix along for a visit, but she declined, insisting on continuing her special training, leaving Cassian with a look of quiet disappointment.
"Cassian, the mecha competition is in six months, and you’re leading the Empire’s team. We can’t just focus on having fun. We’ve both got to train hard so we can perform well together in the competition," Arix said, her eyes shining with determination as she clenched her fists.
Cassian sighed as he looked at her, oblivious to the bigger picture. But he decided to let it go. They were engaged now; maybe love would follow in its own time.
After Cassian left, Arix stood there, her hand on the necklace around her neck.
The gemstone, now a brilliant blue, had miraculously repaired itself after Cassian had let a drop of his blood fall onto it. She couldn’t help but wonder what might happen if she did the same. But, worried she might damage the Moon’s Blessing, she pushed the thought aside.
She carefully tucked the necklace away and headed back to the training base.
Her first stop was Kellan’s office to check in and let him know she was okay. Then, she made her way to the second training field.
When Spears, her coach, saw her return, he smiled like he’d been expecting her all along. "You’re back. Feeling better?" he asked gently.
"Yes, Coach. I’m fine now, thanks," Arix replied with a polite nod.
Spears gave her a slight nod in return, his eyes drifting toward the exit of the training field. Today was the final day of the intense seven-day training session. He couldn’t help but wonder how many students had made it through.
Just then, the exit to the Dimensional Training Field burst open, and a flood of special forces soldiers and military students came pouring out.
At that moment, they all looked like they had just endured a month of survival challenge in the wilderness. Their clothes were torn to shreds, and their bodies were covered in wounds.
Some were even missing limbs, with intestines spilling out from their bellies.
The medical robots, who had been waiting on the sidelines, quickly sprang into action. They moved the severely injured as if they were handling cargo. For those with less severe injuries, the robots simply used a healing device, restoring them to health in no time.
There were quite a few injuries.
Arix wasn’t sure about the special forces, but on the military student side, three were missing. She figured they hadn’t made it through the training and had probably been eliminated by the instructors.
Arix didn’t feel particularly sorry for them, considering she had almost been eliminated herself. She scanned the crowd carefully and was relieved to see that her friends were all healthy and unharmed.
Drexel, who had just emerged, immediately began searching for Arix.
After looking around, he finally spotted her standing next to the instructor, looking clean and well-rested, in stark contrast to everyone else.
Drexel was so confused. He assumed Arix must have come out early, which likely meant she had been eliminated.
Feeling sympathetic, he walked over to Arix, patted her on the shoulder, and said, "Arix, you got eliminated, didn’t you? Don’t worry about it; it’s just a competition. I’ll win a championship for you later!"
Arix gave Drexel a confused look, wondering if he was having another one of his moments.
Since Arix didn’t respond, Drexel assumed he was right and sighed heavily.
Arix ignored him, but Spears, who had been watching, suddenly smiled faintly. In a sinister tone, he said, "I heard that, Drexel. If you don’t win a championship, I’ll give you personal training for two weeks."
Drexel’s eyes widened in shock. "Sir, were you eavesdropping?!"
"Eavesdropping or not doesn’t matter," Spears replied. "What matters is that I heard you, and I’m taking it seriously. So, Arix, I’m counting on you!" He patted Drexel’s shoulder, who now looked utterly defeated.
After teasing Drexel, Spears reminded them to meet at 8 a.m. the next day, then left the training field with the special forces instructor.
Arix was about to leave too, but she noticed Drexel, who looked like he had turned to stone. Feeling a bit sorry for him, she explained, "By the way, dear brother, I did NOT get ELIMINATED."
She emphasized each word to make sure he understood.
Drexel trembled, staring at Arix in disbelief, before coughing up blood and fainting on the spot.
A medical robot, seeing Drexel pass out, promptly came over and carried him away.
Arix, watching her brother faint from shock, nervously rubbed her nose.
"Arix."
A voice suddenly called her name, sounding like it came from a demon.
Arix’s face instantly paled, and she quickly ran off in fear.
"Hey, Arix, why are you running? We’re roommates; let’s go back together!" Quinnie called out, confused.
But Arix didn’t slow down. Instead, she ran even faster, fleeing the scene as quickly as possible.
