Chapter 195: Saving Thaddeus
A mix of emotions crossed Talrin’s face as he pulled out the blueprint. He knew right away that Arix had sent it. In that moment, he felt grateful that his master had chosen Arix as an apprentice. Even someone as hard to impress as Talrin had to admit, Arix was incredibly thoughtful and a true gem.
Meanwhile, Arix sat staring at the dark screen, feeling a sense of relief. Now, with Talrin’s support, she could work on the Awakened Ware without the worry of getting caught. She decided to reveal everything once she solved her father’s Psychic Incarnation issue.
Determined, Arix wasted no time. She picked up a carving knife and started engraving runes into the Vita Crystal.
The Vita Crystal was essential because it held Vita’s psychic power, symbolizing healing and rebirth. Only an Awakened Ware made from Vita Crystal could awaken a Psychic Incarnation; using a regular Insectoid Core, no matter how well carved, wouldn’t do the trick.
After about half an hour, Arix set down the carving knife, pleased with the results.
The runes on the Awakened Ware began to glow, emanating a sense of spring and renewal just by holding it. However, this was just the first step; the Awakened Ware could awaken the Psychic Incarnation but couldn’t revive it fully.
Arix didn’t hesitate. She pulled out a scalpel from her space and made a swift cut on her palm, letting her blood drip onto the Awakened Ware.
As the golden-tinged blood flowed, Arix felt a swirl of emotions. Though she hadn’t received the complete Divine Beast heritage, she had spent a month contemplating how to revive her father’s Psychic Incarnation, and this method had naturally come to mind.
Sylvana’s blood could revive all spiritual entities.
As the blood covered the blueprint, the Awakened Ware started to emit a bright golden light.
Once she confirmed it was successful, Arix quickly retracted her hand and applied ointment from her Space Button to stop the bleeding.
After treating her hand, Arix picked up the Awakened Ware, now infused with a lot of her blood. She cradled it in her palm, taking a moment to admire it.
Unlike the typical Awakened Ware, this one, enhanced with Sylvana’s blood, had an ethereal transparency and beauty. It looked less like a piece of technology and more like a rare artifact from a mystical world.
The realization of the cost to create this piece made Arix shiver. For the first time, she felt grateful for her background. If she had still been as poor as when she first arrived, she might have ended up as a mining slave in some distant star system. The thought made her shudder, so she quickly shook it off and took the Psychic Ware, leaving her bedroom.
In the living room, Thaddeus, Fleur, and Quillan were anxiously waiting, while Drexel casually munched on an apple.
"Mom, Dad, don’t worry. Arix will be fine," Drexel said, glancing at the overly anxious family. He didn’t see why they were so tense; after all, it wasn’t like Arix was giving her life or something.
"What are you talking about? We’re not nervous," Fleur shot back, as she and the others turned to give Drexel a disdainful look.
Drexel noticed Fleur’s fingers almost digging into the table; Quillan was pacing back and forth, and Thaddeus was looking like he might crush his own knees.
Drexel rolled his eyes and continued eating his apple.
After about ten more minutes, they heard footsteps on the stairs. Everyone turned expectantly as Arix finally came into view.
As Arix went down the stairs, Quillan eagerly asked, "Arix, did it work?"
Both Thaddeus and Fleur looked over, noticing their daughter’s pale lips, their expressions quickly shifting to concern.
Drexel, who had stopped munching on his apple, asked worriedly, "Arix, why do you look so pale?"
Quillan, noticing Arix’s condition as well, quickly moved to check her wrist. However, Arix hid her arm behind her back, smiling reassuringly. "I’m fine, just a bit tired from carving the Psychic Ware," she explained.
Quillan looked surprised but didn’t push further. Thaddeus and Fleur, on the other hand, were clearly worried.
"Arix, go rest. We can wait a day or two," Thaddeus said seriously, concern evident in his voice.
Fleur, feeling Arix’s cold forehead, added, "Why are you still eating? Help your sister to her room to rest!" she scolded Drexel.
"Oh, right, I’m coming," Drexel responded, quickly tossing his apple aside and moving to support Arix.
"No, really, I’m fine, Mom and Dad," Arix insisted, wanting to proceed with the treatment for her father.
But Fleur was having none of it. "I know if you’re okay or not. Go rest, or I’ll have to get strict with you."
Arix, seeing the serious look on her mother’s face, decided not to argue. She knew her mom was truly worried.
As Drexel helped her to her room, Arix turned to Quillan, saying, "Sir, my partner in the Psychic Ware research is Talrin. We developed the Psychic Incarnation together. You can ask him for more details. We’re willing to share the blueprint for this one, which we called Awakened Ware. Wait, let me finish..."
"Alright, got it, now go rest," Quillan interjected, both amused and concerned as Arix was led away.
"Okay, goodbye, sir," Arix waved as Drexel guided her to her room.
With Arix settled, Quillan said his goodbyes to the Kering family and hurriedly left. He immediately bought a spaceship ticket to Mulado, only to realize the journey was too slow. He later switched to a Space-jumper ticket.
While waiting during a transfer on the Space-jumper, Quillan began researching Talrin. To his surprise, he discovered Talrin’s extensive report from the military. He hadn’t expected Arix’s partner to be such a significant figure.
This revelation made things a bit awkward. Quillan had planned to have the Psychic Ware Association collaborate with Talrin on researching the Awakened Ware, but he hadn’t realized Talrin was the head of the New Psychic Ware Association.
The old and new associations were known for their rocky relationship. Quillan felt a twinge of embarrassment for the old association but quickly reassured himself, thinking, "It’s not my problem. I’m just an innocent, powerless director. It’s up to them to figure out how to get along with each other."
With that, Quillan informed the Alliance president, the admirals of the five great armies, and the old Psychic Ware Association about the Awakened Ware, leaving the next steps in their hands.
