Chapter 171: Stay Healthy
Arix heard the voice and turned her head in confusion, realizing her mentor was right behind her.
"Sir, what did I miss?" she asked sincerely.
"Your psychic power conflicts with the energy of the Insectoid Cores, so your patterns can’t coexist with the cores," the mentor explained directly, sounding regretful.
"Conflicts?" Arix thought deeply.
She remembered when she was learning to make Star-Class potions. Back then, the psychic power of the Insectoid Cores always avoided her approach, but she had used Cupid’s psychic power.
Just now, she had used Cupid’s psychic power to carve and reorganize. ’What if I use Vita or Sophia’s power instead?’ she wondered.
Arix’s eyes lit up. She pulled out a bunch of Insectoid Cores from her space button. Without a word, she picked up her carving knife and got to work quickly.
The surrounding students groaned, "She’s starting again!"
The mentor wanted to say more but seeing Arix so focused on carving, he stayed silent and watched.
As Arix was about to complete the pattern, forming a diagram, the surrounding students, expecting the usual explosion, sighed and covered their ears.
But after a while, there was no explosion.
They looked puzzled for a moment, then widened their eyes in disbelief at Arix. ’Has she actually made a Psychic Ware?’
The entire class, including the mentor, stared at Arix’s palm in shock and confusion. There lay an Insectoid Core with a complete diagram—no, it was now a Psychic Ware.
However, Arix didn’t seem to care about this highly anticipated Psychic Ware. She casually tossed it aside and started carving other Insectoid Cores as if addicted.
Gradually, the number of Psychic Wares increased. When Arix made the third one, the mentor’s face stiffened, and his body trembled. He thought she was a failure before, but now her talent seemed terrifying.
A typical Psychic Ware Master took several days to carve one Psychic Ware, even when fully focused. But Arix? She made one every ten minutes, faster than an assembly line!
As the mentor’s mind roared, the bell for the end of class rang. Arix snapped out of her trance. But the next moment, she saw stars. She felt so tired as her energy was completely drained.
Arix’s fingers trembled as she picked up the five newly carved Psychic Wares, a satisfied smile spreading across her face. Then, under the admiring gazes of everyone around her, she completely fainted.
The students and the Psychic Ware mentor were stunned for a second before a wave of shouts and the scraping of chairs filled the room.
A moment later, everyone in the classroom, now fully aware of what had happened, scrambled to carry Arix to the school nurse.
The commotion in the Psychic Ware Department quickly caught the attention of the rest of HMA.
Gunder, the president, was in his office handling official duties when he heard that Arix had fainted. He immediately stood up in a panic, rushing towards the medical center while nervously praying, "Please, nothing must happen to her!"
In the hospital room, Arix lay on the bed, looking pale. Two doctors stood by her, checking her condition.
Outside, Gunder and Marlone shot icy glares at the mentor from the Psychic Ware Department.
The mentor, who had just sent the students away, stood off to the side, looking nervous.
"Valtor, explain," Gunder said with a smile, but that smile didn’t reach his cold eyes as he stared down the mentor.
Marlone didn’t say a word, but the fierce look in his eyes was enough.
Valtor swallowed hard and quickly bowed, apologizing. "President Gunder, this is all my fault. I’m sorry. I was too shocked to stop Arix from continuing to carve the Psychic Ware."
Gunder narrowed his eyes. "If I remember correctly, she is just a freshman. How could she shock you?" he asked suspiciously.
Marlone added in a harsh tone, "Arix had never touched Psychic Ware before. You’ll need a better excuse."
Valtor felt wronged but kept silent. He handed over the five pieces of Psychic Ware and showed them a video of Arix making them.
This video was originally meant to surprise his teacher. Now, it was proof of his innocence.
"You’ll see I’m not lying," Valtor said, sharing the video.
After watching the video, Gunder and Marlone exchanged disbelieving looks, finally understanding Valtor’s shock.
Gunder thought for a moment, then addressed Valtor. "Although you didn’t do it on purpose, your carelessness put her in the medical room. Your salary for this month is cut, and your year-end bonus is halved. These penalties will go to compensate Arix. Do you have any objections?"
"No, no," Valtor replied, feeling relieved. His mistake wasn’t severe but significant enough in the military school.
With the President’s decision made, Marlone had no objections either, though he still looked unhappy with Valtor.
Valtor felt guilty and tried to blend into the background.
Seeing this, Marlone snorted and turned his attention to the hospital room, ignoring Valtor.
They waited a bit longer until the door opened again.
The school nurse stepped out, taking off her gloves, and said, "She’s fine. She just overused her psychic power. I gave her a bottle of psychic power healing potion, and she’s almost fully recovered."
"Thank you," Gunder and the others said gratefully.
"Go in and see her. I have other things to do," The nurse nodded slightly and left with her assistant.
Marlone, and Valtor walked into the room.
Arix was awake, staring sadly at the ceiling. She couldn’t escape it... She had drunk the psychic power healing potion... and only she knew how what it was made from.
A tear rolled down her cheek, taking with it her sense of personal hygiene.
When Marlone came in, he saw Arix looking pale and weak. He immediately walked over, worried, and asked, "Arix, how do you feel? Are you okay?"
"I’m fine, just a little tired," Arix replied weakly with a forced smile.
"That’s good. You scared me badly," Marlone said, patting his chest with relief.
Arix looked at Marlone’s strong, bear-like build and smiled without saying anything.
After the three took turns expressing their concern, they prepared to leave.
Before leaving, Gunder took out the five pieces of Psychic Ware and handed them to Arix. His voice was full of pride but also a bit of reproach. "Arix, you are the most talented and hardworking student I have ever seen, so please stay safe. Take care of yourself next time, understand?"
"Thank you, President Gunder. I understand," Arix nodded obediently.
"Rest well. We’ll be going now," Gunder said, and the three left the room together.
"Thank you for the visit," Arix half-lay in bed, waving at them.
After watching them leave, Arix looked down at the Psychic Ware in her hand. She had carved these using Sophia’s psychic power. However, she hadn’t tried using Vita’s psychic power yet.
Arix took out her carving knife, but then she remembered the President’s words. After hesitating for a moment, she put the knife away.
’Never mind, I’ll try it later,’ she thought, lying back down to rest.
There were mecha and soldier classes in the afternoon, so she needed to rest well now.
While Arix’s hospital room remained calm, the outside world was in an uproar.
Especially in the Psychic Ware community, where the big shots were almost fighting for the chance to teach at HMA.
At the Mulado Psychic Ware Master Association, after watching the video of Arix creating Psychic Ware, almost all the Grandmasters wanted to take her as an apprentice.
Knowing that Arix was also the one who invented the psychic power healing potion, they were completely amazed.
Arix’s talent, strength, and background aside, her incredible innovation ability alone was enough to make them eager.
God knows what more powerful inventions she might create in the future. Being her teacher would be a great honor.
The more the Psychic Ware Grandmasters thought about it, the more excited they became. They all gathered in the association’s office, arguing like old men and women at a marketplace.
"Thrynn, how long has it been since you last carved a level-three Psychic Ware? And you still have the nerve to compete for an apprentice?" shouted an elderly man with white hair and a beard, his face red with anger.
"That’s still better than you, the playboy teacher. How many apprentices have you taken on? Can you even teach them all?" Thrynn retorted with a snort.
"Stop arguing, everyone. I’m the most talented here, so I’m the best fit to be Arix’s master," Bryndel chimed in, joining the heated discussion.
"Bah, you’re the least qualified one!" the white-haired old man and Thrynn turned to him simultaneously, shouting in unison.
